AFC South team expected to sign RB Nick Chubb
Former Georgia Bulldogs running back Nick Chubb is close to finding a new home. He is expected to sign with the Houston Texans on a one-year deal, according to Ian Rapoport. His physical is still pending.
Chubb was a five-star running back when he was recruited by the Georgia Bulldogs in 2014. He would go on to have one of the most legendary careers by a Georgia running back ever. Through four seasons, he ranked second among all running backs in yards (4,769) and touchdowns (44) in school history.
Chubb's injury concerns popped up in 2015, when he tore his PCL, MCL, and LCL against Tennessee. Despite the injury, the Cleveland Browns selected him 37th overall in the 2018 draft.
Early on, Chubb looked like he could be one of the greatest running backs of all time. In his first five seasons, he totaled 6,341 yards and 48 touchdowns on just 1,210 attempts. He had more yards than Pro Football Hall of Famers Tony Dorsett, Edgerrin James, Jerome Bettis, and Thurman Thomas did through their first five seasons.
Unfortunately, injuries caught up with him again. He suffered a torn MCL in 2023 vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football. That took him out for the rest of the 2023 season and six games of the 2024 season.

When he came back, he wasn't the quite same running back, but he still showed flashes of his immense talent in a two-touchdown game against the Steelers on Thursday Night Football in Week 12.
Unfortunately, against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14, he suffered a broken foot. With his contract expiring in 2024, Cleveland did not re-sign him.
Chubb now is expected to join a crowded backfield with solid veteran Joe Mixon, youngster Dameon Pierce, and fourth-round pick Woody Marks.

Cavaliers guard Darius Garland had surgery Monday on the injured left big toe that hampered him during Cleveland's exit from the playoffs. The Cavaliers said the procedure was performed by Dr. Nicholas Strasser at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, in consultation with team physician Dr. James Rosneck and Dr. Bob Anderson. The All-Star guard missed the final two games of the regular season and four games during the playoffs with the injury, which was described as a sprain. "Definitely wasn't myself. It was pretty uncomfortable but trying to do everything to win the game. It was frustrating because I wasn't 100 percent," Garland said after the Cavaliers lost to the Indiana Pacers in five games in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Garland is expected to spend 4 to 5 months going through a progression of treatment and rehabilitation before resuming basketball activities by the start of training camp. Garland averaged 20.6 points and 6.7 assists during the regular season to help the Cavs finish atop the Eastern Conference. In just five playoff games, he dropped to 18 points and 5.2 assists per game, and while Cleveland won the two games against the Miami Heat that Garland sat out due to his toe, he also missed two of the four games that the Cavs dropped to the Pacers in the conference semifinals. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — U.S. midfielder Tyler Adams will miss Tuesday night's friendly against Switzerland because of a foot injury. 'I hope it's not a big issue,' coach Mauricio Pochettino said Monday. 'I think we can manage in a good way and rest him a few days and then see if he can be ready for the Gold Cup.' Adams played the second half of Saturday's 2-1 loss to Turkey. The Americans open the CONCACAF Gold Cup against Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday. They already are missing are Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, Tim Weah, Antonee Robinson, Sergiño Dest, Yunus Musah, Folarin Balogun and Gio Reyna. Some are hurt, some want time off and some will be at the Club World Cup. The U.S. will be trying to avoid its first four-game losing streak since dropping five straight in 2007. Pochettino praised goalkeeper Matt Freese, who made his debut against Turkey in place of Matt Turner, the U.S. starter since 2022. Turner did not play for Crystal Palace after March 1. 'He was very, very good,' Pochettino said. 'Things that he needs to prove? Of course. But he needs to play and needs games with the national team. ... He has amazing potential.
