New 'RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 10' bracket rules and point system twist explained
RuPaul introduced new rules for the returning queens on All Stars 10.
The contestants will be divided into three brackets that will whittle down to three stars each.
A new point-based twist was introduced at the end of the episode, which could change the game. You thought drag queens were good at math? Guess what, Mimi, they're not — but RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 10 changed the rules for its new bracket-style tournament anyway, and threw in a numbers-based point system twist to top it all off.
Friday's premiere episode saw RuPaul sprout a mustache as he sat at the panel in boy drag to deliver news of the format's rules to returning queens Aja, Bosco, DeJa Skye, Irene the Alien, Olivia Lux, and Phoenix, all of whom comprised the first of All Stars 10 three separate six-queen groups.
"In the preliminary rounds, no one will be eliminated," RuPaul told the contestants. "Instead, you'll be competing for points. At the end of this three-episode bracket, the three all-stars with the most points form this bracket will advance to the semi-finals, where you will face off against the top-three all-stars from the other brackets."
In essence, only three queens from each six-queen bracket will advance to the next round, where the queens will compete until they're whittled down to a final two.
"In the final lip-sync smackdown for the crown, the top all-stars will battle it out for the grand prize of $200,000. Yes, honey, that's a lot of full-coverage foundation," RuPaul continued, while season 9 and All Stars 3 alum Aja reacted with excitement: "Baby, we're going to have to fight to the death,' the New York City queen exclaimed.
Ru elaborated further on the scoring system, telling the queens that points will be distributed several times per episode. The top two queens of the week will get two points each, and that pair will then lip-sync for the overall victory that comes with an additional point and a $10,000 tip.
As usual, though, Ru wasn't done there.
"There is more. An additional four points will be awarded each episode. But, more on that later," Ru teased to the shocked queens at the top of the premiere.
Later, after a metal-themed music challenge, Aja and Irene were named the top queens of the week. Upon deeming Aja to be the top all-star, RuPaul expanded upon the point system's extra layer.
"All-stars, with great power comes great responsibility. Each week, the bottom four queens will each receive one point, but here's the twist: You can't keep the point for yourself," Ru told the girls. "You must give it away to the all-star you believe is the MVQ: the Most Valuable Queen of the week. I'll leave it up to each of you to decide which all-star deserves your MVQ point."
Ru then reiterated that at the end of the first three episodes, three queens among the group would be eliminated before the second bracket entered the Werk Room to compete on episodes 4-6.
In an exclusive group interview with Entertainment Weekly (above), the cast reacted to the format change with a range of emotions, with some using it as a chance to playfully jab their sisters, and others seeing the changes as an opportunity to develop new strategies that haven't been seen on the show in the past.
"For a lot of girls, this was the first time they ever felt like they were [in the] top six, and it showed, and I loved it,' Aja joked, while season 14 finalist Bosco said she feels the AS10 competition is a "more fair experience going into All Stars" that equalizes the competitors, after some queens are on their third (Aja, Jorgeous, Cynthia Lee Fontaine) and even fourth (Ginger Minj) seasons.'I think being in a smaller group, there's more chance to focus on everything.... you're able to keep your eye on the girls a little bit more," season 13's Tina Burner added. "I can watch every one of them and all the shady s--- they're trying to do, and know who to not talk to and who to keep at a tender distance.'
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 10 continues Fridays on Paramount+.

'MobLand' stars Pierce Brosnan and Anson Boon tease what the future might hold for their characters after season 1 finale
Pierce Brosnan and Anson Boon share their thoughts on what they hope the future might hold for their MobLand characters. The two performers also share their differing takes on who really runs the Harrigan empire. With the finale setting up fresh threats for a potential second season, Brosnan and Boon speculate on who among their criminal clan they should fear article contains spoilers for season 1, episode 10, "The Beast in Me." Following 10 episodes filled with butchered body parts, booby-trapped cars, and more corpses than you can shake a buzzing chainsaw at, it's a little surprising both Conrad Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan) and his grandson/son Eddie (Anson Boon) survived MobLand's entire first season unscathed. But like any good crime family worth its weight in cement shoes, the Harrigans aren't wasting time counting their lucky stars, but are anxiously moving onto their next big score. With that in mind, Entertainment Weekly spoke with both Brosnan and Boon about what the future might hold for their characters, who the most dangerous member of their dysfunctional clan is, and, most importantly, who really wears the pants in the Harrigan household. Addressing that latter query, specifically whether Conrad truly believes he is in charge over his his wife Maeve (Helen Mirren), Bronson quickly sets the record straight: "Yes, of course he does." But he also stresses there's much more to the Conrad-Maeve dynamic than a simple pecking order. "It's kind of a malevolent, merry dance that they've played all their lives. They both have a passionate lust for the dangers of life, and they repeat the same toxic dance that has now reached a point that it's out of control." He continues, "But he trusts no one, and he certainly doesn't trust her. He may say that he does…but he loves her. They love each other." While Boon credits Conrad with being as "successful" as he is "formidable," his character's unique relationship with the family matriarch ultimately sees him placing her at the top of the Harrigan hierarchy. "She's really stirring the pot, and Eddie is the only one who's given a front-row seat into the inner workings of what she's doing. Maeve is absolutely pulling the strings and twisting this family at every turn." Maeve's powerful position – coupled with Eddie learning she's not actually his grandmother in the finale – also makes her one of the series' scariest characters, according to Boon. "He's related to her in the same way that Seraphina [Mandeep Dhillon] is, and look how she treats Seraphina. So what is she gonna do to Eddie? Does he continue to trust her or not?" Given Maeve and Conrad's quite different, though equally complex, relationship, Bronson sees his on-screen wife as less of a threat than his conniving offspring. "They're all time bombs waiting to go off. Kevin, [Paddy Considine's] character…he's got so much venom in him, so much hate. I think Anson is pretty lethal, pretty badass. But they're all ruled by hate, self-loathing, narcissistic, mangled lives." As Boon points out, Harry (Tom Hardy) also has Eddie's number, a fact that could see him looking over his shoulder as he claws his way up the crime family's food chain. "I think it really scares him in that scene, when [Harry] confronts Eddie about him sleeping with Gina. That one little line that he gives at the end, where he says, 'Yeah, you're gonna run this family one day. And when you're on that cliff, I'll be right next to you and I'm gonna push you off,' That's more terrifying than any punch ever could have been, so I think at that moment he's most scared of Harry." Torn between who future-Eddie should fear most, Boon continues with a chuckle, "But then the level of confusion he has towards Maeve when he finds out he's not related to her, but she says they're gonna be the king and the queen…I think that is absolutely terrifying as well. It will be interesting to see what decisions he makes." Of course, fans will need to wait for a yet-to-be-announced second season to find out who'll be gunning for who. If a follow-up season plays out anything like the first blood-soaked batch of episodes, Brosnan believes no one is safe. "You never knew where it was going. Near the end, we were just waiting for the scripts to come in. They would come in really close to the wire, so it was always a surprise to see who was still in the picture." The actor has no insight into possible future storylines – or violent exits – but won't rule out Conrad occupying a body bag. "I think it's entirely possible," he says with a laugh. But based on Conrad's crotch-grabbing, season-capping strut, Bronson believes his character is looking toward a brighter outcome. "The future is golden for him. He's gonna get out of prison and hunt down the little s—bags who did him injustice." Boon's character's future is more uncertain, especially seeing as Eddie disappeared from the Harrigan safe house around the finale's midpoint. But the actor has an idea of what he hoped happened to him after almost murdering his mum. "What he needs to do is go for a long walk in that forest, while he's working his way away from the safe house, and just clear his head and try to work out his next move. Is he gonna trust Maeve, like he has done for the whole of his life?" Regardless of what Conrad and Eddie's futures hold – and who they should fear most – Brosnan enthusiastically replies, "100 percent, absolutely!" when asked if he'd be game for reprising his role for a second season. "It's so much fun," he says. "It allows you to play so many different levels." And speaking collectively for the cast, he concludes – like a true Harrigan – "I think everyone's in it for the crack, as they say in Ireland!" Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

Everything we know about Tina Romero's queer 'glam-gore' zombie film, 'Queens of the Dead'
Gear up, queens! A new zombie apocalypse film is on its way — but this one is putting LGBTQ+ characters front and center. Tina Romero is set to carry on the horror legacy of her father, George A. Romero, with a zombie flick of her own, Queens of the Dead. The horror-comedy project was announced last summer, promising a "genre-smashing, glam-gore thrill ride through the zombie apocalypse." "The zombie apocalypse is such a rich sandbox to play in when it comes to social commentary. I can't be my dad's daughter without making an attempt at saying something with zombies," Romero told Entertainment Weekly. "It's very much not a film he would make, but it is using his vocabulary and is playing by his rules. As far as the queer element, on one hand, I just feel like the gays need a zombie film. It's time that we get to have a big gay zombie movie." Are you hyped yet?! Here's what we know about the movie so far: See on Instagram According to the official Instagram page for the film, Queens of the Dead "follows an eclectic group of drag queens, club kids, and frenemies who must put aside their personal dramas and use their unique skills to combat the brain-thirsty undead when a zombie apocalypse breaks out during their drag show in Brooklyn." See on Instagram Queens of the Dead boasts a stacked cast of comedy and queer faves. Katy O'Brian, Jaquel Spivey, Tomás Matos, Margaret Cho, Jack Haven, and Cheyenne Jackson are leading the charge, with Riki Lindhome, Tom Savini, Eve Lindley, Dominique Jackson, Nina West, and Shaunette Renée Wilson among those rounding out the cast. Romero directed the film, which is based on a script she co-wrote with Erin Judge. See on Instagram Most of the scenes for Queens of the Dead were filmed at a warehouse in New Jersey, with some additional shots taking place in Bushwick in Brooklyn. According to O'Brian, the location wound up helping the crew pull in favors from a larger production that had recently wrapped up filming in New York, The Bride! "Our budget was not big, and people really were doing this out of the love for the project. I think it really shows," she said. "Our hair and makeup department pulled in some favors and got all of this zombie stuff." See on Instagram There is not currently a trailer publicly available for Queens of the Dead, although it seems likely one will drop soon. See on Instagram Queens of the Dead has its official world premiere slated for June 7, 2025, at the Tribeca Film Festival. It's unclear yet as to whether the film will ultimately get theatrical distribution or go straight to streaming after running the festival circuit — let alone when that might be — but we'll keep our fingers crossed for sometime in 2025!

The Black Phone became a box office hit upon its 2021 release, with several critics praising its thrilling tone and the rare villainous turn from Hawke, 54. "I've always had this theory that when you teach an audience how to see the demon inside you, they don't unsee it for the rest of your career. Jack Nicholson can be playing an accountant and you're still waiting for him to explode like he did in The Shining," Hawke said in an Entertainment Weekly interview at the time. "But I realized I'm on the other side of 50 and it's time to put a new tool in the tool kit. Villains might be my future." Black Phone 2 is in theaters Oct. 17. Read the original article on People
