'MobLand' stars Pierce Brosnan and Anson Boon tease what the future might hold for their characters after season 1 finale

Yahoo03-06-2025
Pierce Brosnan and Anson Boon share their thoughts on what they hope the future might hold for their MobLand characters.
The two performers also share their differing takes on who really runs the Harrigan empire.
With the finale setting up fresh threats for a potential second season, Brosnan and Boon speculate on who among their criminal clan they should fear most. This article contains spoilers for season 1, episode 10, "The Beast in Me."
Following 10 episodes filled with butchered body parts, booby-trapped cars, and more corpses than you can shake a buzzing chainsaw at, it's a little surprising both Conrad Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan) and his grandson/son Eddie (Anson Boon) survived MobLand's entire first season unscathed.
But like any good crime family worth its weight in cement shoes, the Harrigans aren't wasting time counting their lucky stars, but are anxiously moving onto their next big score. With that in mind, Entertainment Weekly spoke with both Brosnan and Boon about what the future might hold for their characters, who the most dangerous member of their dysfunctional clan is, and, most importantly, who really wears the pants in the Harrigan household.
Addressing that latter query, specifically whether Conrad truly believes he is in charge over his his wife Maeve (Helen Mirren), Bronson quickly sets the record straight: "Yes, of course he does."
But he also stresses there's much more to the Conrad-Maeve dynamic than a simple pecking order. "It's kind of a malevolent, merry dance that they've played all their lives. They both have a passionate lust for the dangers of life, and they repeat the same toxic dance that has now reached a point that it's out of control."
He continues, "But he trusts no one, and he certainly doesn't trust her. He may say that he does…but he loves her. They love each other."
While Boon credits Conrad with being as "successful" as he is "formidable," his character's unique relationship with the family matriarch ultimately sees him placing her at the top of the Harrigan hierarchy. "She's really stirring the pot, and Eddie is the only one who's given a front-row seat into the inner workings of what she's doing. Maeve is absolutely pulling the strings and twisting this family at every turn."
Maeve's powerful position – coupled with Eddie learning she's not actually his grandmother in the finale – also makes her one of the series' scariest characters, according to Boon. "He's related to her in the same way that Seraphina [Mandeep Dhillon] is, and look how she treats Seraphina. So what is she gonna do to Eddie? Does he continue to trust her or not?"
Given Maeve and Conrad's quite different, though equally complex, relationship, Bronson sees his on-screen wife as less of a threat than his conniving offspring. "They're all time bombs waiting to go off. Kevin, [Paddy Considine's] character…he's got so much venom in him, so much hate. I think Anson is pretty lethal, pretty badass. But they're all ruled by hate, self-loathing, narcissistic, mangled lives."
As Boon points out, Harry (Tom Hardy) also has Eddie's number, a fact that could see him looking over his shoulder as he claws his way up the crime family's food chain. "I think it really scares him in that scene, when [Harry] confronts Eddie about him sleeping with Gina. That one little line that he gives at the end, where he says, 'Yeah, you're gonna run this family one day. And when you're on that cliff, I'll be right next to you and I'm gonna push you off,' That's more terrifying than any punch ever could have been, so I think at that moment he's most scared of Harry."
Torn between who future-Eddie should fear most, Boon continues with a chuckle, "But then the level of confusion he has towards Maeve when he finds out he's not related to her, but she says they're gonna be the king and the queen…I think that is absolutely terrifying as well. It will be interesting to see what decisions he makes."
Of course, fans will need to wait for a yet-to-be-announced second season to find out who'll be gunning for who. If a follow-up season plays out anything like the first blood-soaked batch of episodes, Brosnan believes no one is safe. "You never knew where it was going. Near the end, we were just waiting for the scripts to come in. They would come in really close to the wire, so it was always a surprise to see who was still in the picture."
The actor has no insight into possible future storylines – or violent exits – but won't rule out Conrad occupying a body bag. "I think it's entirely possible," he says with a laugh. But based on Conrad's crotch-grabbing, season-capping strut, Bronson believes his character is looking toward a brighter outcome. "The future is golden for him. He's gonna get out of prison and hunt down the little s—bags who did him injustice."
Boon's character's future is more uncertain, especially seeing as Eddie disappeared from the Harrigan safe house around the finale's midpoint. But the actor has an idea of what he hoped happened to him after almost murdering his mum. "What he needs to do is go for a long walk in that forest, while he's working his way away from the safe house, and just clear his head and try to work out his next move. Is he gonna trust Maeve, like he has done for the whole of his life?"
Regardless of what Conrad and Eddie's futures hold – and who they should fear most – Brosnan enthusiastically replies, "100 percent, absolutely!" when asked if he'd be game for reprising his role for a second season. "It's so much fun," he says. "It allows you to play so many different levels." And speaking collectively for the cast, he concludes – like a true Harrigan – "I think everyone's in it for the crack, as they say in Ireland!"

Scream star Jasmin Savoy Brown has said that she hopes the franchises's 'Core Four' will be reunited someday, despite her former co-stars Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega not returning for the upcoming seventh installment. "I can't imagine making this movie without Melissa and Jenna," Brown said in a new book, Your Favorite Scary Movie: How the Scream Films Rewrote the Rules of Horror by Ashley Cullins (via Entertainment Weekly). "It won't be the same. On the flip side, I do care about this character so much, and I care so much about the people that care about her. I hope that someday – even if it's 20 years from now – the Core Four gets back together on screen." Savoy Brown has played Mindy Meeks-Martin since 2022's Scream. Making up the rest of the Core Four is Mindy's twin brother Chad (Mason Gooding), their friend Tara (Ortega), and Tara's older sister Sam (Melissa Barrera). Alongside Savoy Brown and Gooding, the cast of Scream 7 includes Neve Campbell's return as Sidney Prescott, along with Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and David Arquette as Dewey Riley – despite his character meeting an untimely end in 2022's Scream. And he's not the only one: Matthew Lillard, who played Stu Macher in the first Scream movie, and Scott Foley, who played Roman Bridger in Scream 3, are also both returning for round seven despite both their characters dying in previous installments. Scream 7 arrives in theaters on February 27, 2026. In the meantime, check out our guide to the other upcoming horror movies to add to your watchlist. Solve the daily Crossword

Mark Hamill totally forgot he acted in this movie role

Mark Hamill forgot the force of this movie. In 1992, the actor, 73, had a small role in the adaptation of Stephen King's 'Sleepwalkers.' However, decades later, Hamill doesn't remember playing Sheriff Jenkins in the horror drama. 'I totally forgot,' the 'Star Wars' actor admitted to Entertainment Weekly. 'If I remember right, Mick Garris, the director, asked me, 'Could I do a small role?' I loved him so much, and I thought, 'I've gotta do it to help him.' I don't even know if I got paid, but I totally forgot about it. If there's not a premiere of a movie, sometimes they'll slip through, and I don't see 'em. I think I eventually saw it, but it was so long ago, I can't remember much of it.' Advertisement 7 Mark Hamill in 'Sleepwalkers.' Columbia Pictures In the project, Brian Krause and Alice Krige starred as Charles and Mary Brady, respectively, shape-shifters who are looking to feed on local virgin girls. 'I don't remember the plot; I don't remember who I played. I should probably look it up,' Hamill continued. 'I've always been a Stephen King fan, and if it came out after 'The Shining,' because that's one of the first things I ever saw. I remember I saw it in Westwood, [Calif.,] the very first week it opened. I walked directly from the theater to a bookstore and went home to read, 'What the Hell Did I Just Read?'' Columbia Pictures The upcoming film is based on King's 1979 novel that follows the contestants of a grueling and deadly annual walking contest. Hamill plays a military leader in totalitarian America. 'The real heart and soul of the picture is their experiences in these extraordinary circumstances,' he said of the characters, 'their highs, their lows, their triumphs, their tragedies, the alliances, the rivalries. That's what the movie's all about.' Advertisement King has been serving screams for decades. 7 Mark Hamill as Sheriff Jenkins. Columbia Pictures The author's 1974 book 'Carrie' was the first of many to be adapted to the big screen. The 1976 film was directed by Brian De Palma and starred Sissy Spacek and John Travolta. 'I liked De Palma's film of Carrie quite a bit,' King said in an interview with Cinefantastique. 'The attitude of the film was different from my book; I tended to view the events straight-on, humorlessly, in a straight point-to-point progression, while I think De Palma saw a chance to make a movie that was a satirical view of high school life in general and high school peer-groups in particular. A perfectly viable point of view.' Advertisement He added, 'Sissy Spacek was excellent, but right behind her – in a smaller part than it should have been was John Travolta. He played the part of Billy Nolan the way I wish I'd written it, half-funny and half-crazy.' 7 Alice Krige, Madchen Amick and Brian Krause in 'Sleepwalkers.' ©Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection Hamill, meanwhile, first rose to fame playing Luke Skywalker in George Lucas' 'Star Wars' films since 1977. Rumors swirled that the actor quit the franchise after he told in May that he 'had his time' with the beloved sci-fi series and that 'they should focus on the future.' 'I am so grateful to George for letting me be a part of that back in the day, the humble days when George called 'Star Wars' the most expensive low-budget movie ever made,' shared Hamill. 'We never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that.' 7 Mark Hamill in 2018. Getty Images for NET-A-PORTER 'But my deal is, I had my time,' he continued. 'I'm appreciative of that, but I really think they should focus on the future and all the new characters.' A month later, the 'Wild Robot' star set the record straight. 'It's not like they said, 'Please come back.'' 7 Mark Hamill speaks onstage. Getty Images for HISTORY 'I don't want to make a big PR pronouncement like 'This is my decision,'' he added. 'I'm just saying that it really felt like a conclusion. My character was given complete closure. I died, ironically by overdosing on the Force, I might point out.' Hamill's character dies at the end of 2017's 'The Last Jedi.' They can do Westerns, mysteries, comedies, whodunits, anything within that realm of 'Star Wars.''

KJ Apa's Dating and Relationship History

If you're already watched The Map That Leads to You, then chances are your first question (after where are the tissues??) is: Are KJ Apa and Madelyn Cline dating IRL? The onscreen chemistry between the two actors (and tbh, the off-screen chemistry as well) is so magnetic that you might just think the two are a real-life the actors aren't doing much to dispel the rumors, either. As KJ told Cosmo during his August 2025 interview, 'I'm not going to lie, I fell in love with Madelyn on this movie in many ways that, one, are part of my job, and two, happened because she's an amazing person. You lean into it because it's fucking fun, and it's life, and I like feeling great.' Okay!! That said, a relationship between KJ and Madelyn hasn't actually been confirmed (plus, KJ was recently linked to another blonde actress...). So who has KJ actually dated over the years? Let's dive in. Though the relationship was never confirmed, KJ was once rumored to be romancing his I Still Believe costar, Britt Robertson. The two first crossed paths on the set of A Dog's Purpose in 2017, and in July 2019, they sparked dating rumors after they were spotted looking cozy at Entertainment Weekly's Comic-Con party. At the time, an insider at Us Weekly claimed the two actors could also be seen 'leaning in and kissing each other,' but nothing else was heard about the maybe-romance after this. After months of rumors, KJ went public with French model Clara Berry on Instagram in February 2020 —and just a little over a year later in May 2021, they announced that they were expecting their first child together. Their son was born in September 2021, and the following month, KJ raised eyebrows when he referred to Clara as his 'wife' (!!) on Instagram. Sadly, the two didn't last. In February 2024, Clara broke the news during a fan Q&A on IG, telling a fan 'no' when asked whether she and KJ were still together. Take this one with a grain of salt, because there is zero evidence supporting In August 2025, DeuxMoi responded to a fan question that asked, 'You mentioned someone you thought KJ Apa was was that?' The answer: Landman star Michelle Randolph. Again, I have no evidence of this, but I support it nevertheless!!
