Former Splitsvilla contestant Khushi Mukherjee has once again found herself at the center of a firestorm, not for her television stints, but for her bold fashion choices that continue to spark outrage and online debate. The actress, now more known for her revealing appearances than her acting roles, recently went viral for stepping out in a golden halter-neck outfit that featured a backless cut, a plunging neckline, and a thigh-high slit. While her paparazzi photos instantly went viral, they also ignited a new wave of criticism on social media.
As she posed confidently for cameras, an uncomfortable moment unfolded when an elderly passerby made a crude remark suggesting she wasn't wearing underwear. The incident, captured on video, quickly drew backlash from both sides—some slamming the man for his comment, while others echoed his sentiments, shaming Khushi for her attire. However, Khushi responded with unflinching candour in an interview with Viral Bollywood.
'Kya aapne dekha tha ki maine chaddi pehni thi ya nahi? Of course, koi chaddi ke bahar toh nahi nikalega, right?" she said, addressing the speculations directly. 'Maine thong pehni thi, aur maine uski strip upar karke rakhi thi." She made it clear she was aware of what she was wearing and was unbothered by the judgemental glances.
Dismissing concerns that she looked uncomfortable in her outfit, Khushi added, 'Hawa chal rahi thi—kya main poora udaake show karti? Main usko sambhal rahi thi, main uncomfortable feel nahi kar rahi thi. Phir bhi mera 'oops moment' click ho jata hai." She went on to say that she's always conscious of what parts of her body she is showing and maintains control of her image.

But it was her emotionally charged statement that perhaps struck the loudest chord: 'Logon ke andar itna poison bhar gaya hai… kya chahte hain? Main suicide kar loon? Main nahi karungi. Shayad log meri wajah se kar lein, par main nahi karungi. Main yeh sab isliye karti hoon, kyunki mujhe farak hi nahi padta." Her words laid bare the emotional toll of constant online vitriol, while simultaneously reaffirming her defiance.
Meanwhile, her appearances have triggered reactions beyond just trolls. Sasural Simar Ka actress Falaq Naaz indirectly criticised Khushi in a recent video, questioning why the government remains silent on such bold public appearances when it penalizes acts like feeding stray animals. Without naming Khushi directly, she asked, 'Aise logon pe penalty kyun nahi hai?"—drawing a controversial comparison that only fuelled the already heated conversation online.
Khushi Mukherjee continues to challenge the boundaries of public decency as defined by conventional norms, and in doing so, forces a complex debate on freedom of expression, trolling, and societal double standards.
