Wisconsin football blue-chip 2026 recruiting target predicted to choose a Big Ten rival
This past Monday, one of Wisconsin's top class of 2026 targets received a 247Sports crystal ball prediction favoring a Big Ten rival. That is Rockford, Illinois, native Messiah Tilson, who is predicted to commit to Greg Schiano and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
The prediction came from the 247Sports staff collectively and was given with a 'medium' confidence level.
The recruiting service lists Tilson as a four-star recruit. He's specifically ranked as the No. 434 player in the class of 2026, the No. 39 safety and the No. 11 recruit from his home state. Tilson visited the Badgers back on April 23. His other scheduled or completed visits are to Illinois on April 11, Iowa on April 18, Kentucky on June 3, Rutgers recently on June 6, Minnesota on June 13 and Kansas on June 20.
Tilson choosing the Scarlet Knights would be a major loss for the Badgers, who felt fairly confident for most of his recruitment. The prediction is noteworthy, as the 247Sports staff has yet to miss a prediction (20-for-20) during the 2026 cycle.
The Badgers haven't had as much success to start the 2026 cycle as they experienced in 2024 and 2025. The program did have a strong first official visit weekend, already with five converted commitments. While potentially losing out on a defensive back prospect like Tilson is not ideal, several of Wisconsin's top targets remain on the board.

The top-rated prospect is also still planning trips to the Ohio State Buckeyes, LSU Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks. Advertisement But when talking about Tennessee, Gray added there's nothing he doesn't like. 'I enjoyed everything,' Gray told Brown. 'Just being around the players was kind of the biggest thing. That was the next step in this recruitment process, and everybody was great.' According to the On3 Industry Rankings, 247Sports and Rivals, Gray is the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the 2026 class. Based on the 247Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 2 interior offensive lineman and second-rated Virginia prospect for 2026. Gray is also the No. 28 overall recruit in the class. Ruckert was asked by the New York media what it means to be playing with his college teammate again, and was excited more for the team than himself. "Any time you get a chance to reconnect with one of your teammates, whether it's in the League or college, it's great,: Ruckert told reporters. "I'm excited where we're going as a team and the culture we're setting, and I think he's (Fields) perfect for that role, and just these last couple of weeks to get back on the same page and get our timing right with all the guys. It's been special to be a part of that, but also kind of get the other guys rolling and continue to grow as a unit." If you are an Ohio State fan, there aren't too many storylines that jump out more than what Fields does in New York. If he can use his athletic gifts the right way and still find a way to stay poised and present in the pocket, we could see a budding star coming to light just a little later than we thought. The transfer portal dictates how college football rosters are shaped today, with UNC being a prime example heading into its 2025 season. Knowing you have one of the greatest coaches of all time coming here, it wouldn't have been smart for me to leave.' With no J.J. Jones or Nate McCollum, expect to see Shipp earn starting minutes in 2025. Joining Shipp in the wideout room are Michigan State transfer Aziah Johnson, Colorado transfer Adrian Wilson and Washington transfer Jason Robinson Jr., while the likes of Javarius Green, Chris Culliver and Paul Billups are 2024 holdovers.
