Bharat Bhushan Ashu urges Aam Aadmi Party volunteers not to vote for party
Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu, on Saturday, wrote a message for volunteers of the
Aam Aadmi Party
(AAP) on his official Facebook page, asking them to take a stand for themselves as their own party leaders "ignored them."
Ashu wrote: "Today, my message is especially for my friends in the Aam Aadmi Party. It is for all those common workers of the AAP who have given their blood and sweat to the party for the last eleven years since you joined the party for the first time in 2014. You made the govt in 2022. You got the party a record victory with 92 seats. This is unparalleled. It was all because of you. But, what have you gained?"
He added, "You know better than me how the Rajya Sabha seats were "distributed" among those who were never in politics but were big businessmen with deep pockets.
And the remaining seats were distributed among people from Delhi. Now another seat, which is represented by a Punjabi, is up for grabs, irrespective of the electoral outcome on June 23, by another Delhi leader, Kejriwal Sahab."
Ashu asserted that most of the positions which could be given to workers were given to AAP workers from Delhi and other states. "My appeal to all of you is to ensure that you do not vote for AAP this time. Show your anger and resentment. It is not that I am talking about my own interest alone. If you don't vote for AAP in this by-election and when the AAP candidate gets defeated, only then will the AAP leadership realise that it needs to take care of the Punjabi workers also," he stated.

Mohammad Azharuddin's son follows father's footsteps, joins politics; named Telangana Congress General Secretary
Mohammad Azharuddin's son has followed his father's footsteps and has entered politics. Mohammad Asaduddin is among the 69 general secretaries, appointed to the Telangana Congress earlier this week by the party leadership. Asaduddin has also featured in Ranji Trophy matches, and will now enter politics, just like his father. The appointment of Asaduddin, who is also 35-years-old, took place after Hyderabad's Jubilee Hills seat became vacant, after MLA Maganti Gopinth's death on Sunday due to a heart attack. It also led to speculation that Asaduddin could be a contestant representing Congress for the polls. Then in November 2023 Telangana elections, Azharuddin was also the Congress nominee from Jubilee Hills, and he lost to Maganti of the BRS by a margin of 16,337 votes after he got an early lead against the sitting MLA. While speaking to The Print about getting a Congress ticket, he said, 'I don't know what's in store for me. My dad is still active in politics. Let's see.' He was formally associated with the Congress since the 2023 polls, and was also actively involved in his father's poll campaign, organising rallies mohalla meetings etc., across the constituency. 'All I can say is that despite the disappointing loss, I stayed strongly connected with the people in Jubilee Hills, taking up their issues,' he said. In the past, he has also served as the Youth Congress' sports cell secretary in Telangana. He is also a graduate in law and is married to tennis player Sania Mirza's sister Anam Mirza. On Tuesday, Azharuddin wrote on X, 'A proud and emotional moment for me as my son, Mohammed Asaduddin, steps into his official role in public life as the General Secretary of the Telangana Congress.' 'I've seen his commitment to people, his passion for service, and his sincerity up close. May he stay grounded, focused, and guided by the values that truly matter. Wishing him all the very best as he takes on this responsibility.'

Was Asim Munir invited to attend the US military parade? White House clears the air amid backlash
The White House on Sunday firmly denied reports claiming that Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, was invited to attend the grand US military parade. "This is false. No foreign military leaders were invited," a White House official was quoted as saying by The Hindu, pushing back on speculation that Munir was among the international figures asked to join the high-profile event. The denial comes amid political backlash in India due to the media reports. The Congress party called it a 'diplomatic setback' for India, more so in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. The grand military parade that President Donald Trump had been wanting for years barreled down Constitution Avenue on Saturday with tanks, troops and a 21-gun salute, playing out against a counterpoint of protests around the country by those who decried the US leader as a dictator and would-be king. The Republican president, on his 79th birthday, sat on a special viewing stand south of the White House to watch the display of American military might, which began early and moved swiftly as light rain fell and clouds shrouded the Washington Monument. 'Every other country celebrates their victories. It's about time America did too,' Trump declared in brief remarks at the parade's end. During the event, the president praised the strength of the military's fighting forces and said US soldiers 'fight, fight, fight and they win, win, win' — putting a new twist on a line that Trump regularly delivered during his 2024 campaign rallies after he survived an assassination attempt. Anti-Trump activists, including civil-rights groups and labour unions, organised the nationwide protest under the banner of 'No Kings,' denouncing what they say are Trump's authoritarian tendencies — and the parade being held on his 79th birthday. Major demonstrations took place in Philadelphia, the cradle of US independence, and in Los Angeles, where the opposition to immigration raids prompted Trump to seize control of California's National Guard and deploy US Marines.
