Shots fired after girl gets bitten by dog in Dayton

Dayton Police were called to the 300 block of Delaware Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. on reports of shots fired.
Lt. Eric Sheldon said officers got to the scene and took everyone involved into custody as they investigated.

Investigators learned that an 11-year-old girl had been bitten by a dog. This led to an argument that escalated to shots being fired between two groups.
'No one was struck by this reckless gunfire, however multiple homes and at least one vehicle were struck,' Sheldon said.
The child was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries from the dog bite.
Three people were arrested. A 17-year-old boy was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center for obstructing official business, failure to disclose, carrying a concealed weapon, improperly discharging a firearm, and felonious assault.
Two men, 21 and 20 years old, were booked into the Montgomery County Jail on felonious assault and improperly discharging a firearm charges.
Six firearms and other pieces of evidence were found during the investigation.
The case remains under investigation by the Dayton Police Department's Violent Offender Unit.

Georgia daycare worker charged in child abuse case
A Georgia daycare worker was arrested and faces multiple charges, including child cruelty. While many details weren't released, police arrested daycare worker Yvette Thurston, 54, the same day. 'Questioning the incident was an inconvenience for the person in custody for the horrible acts she did, and also the pastor, while watching the video footage,' the father said. A Canton woman was arrested after allegedly leaving her puppy to die in a hot car while she went shopping. Woman leads GA deputies on 140-mph chase, uses blinker to follow move over law
Georgia deputies arrested an Ellenwood woman accused of leading them on a high-speed chase. But deputies say there was one law that she appeared to follow. The Jones County Sheriff's Office released dash camera video of the Aug. 12 chase they said involved Demetric Bazi. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Sgt. Travis Walker pulled over Bazi, who had multiple warrants for her arrest, on Ga. 57. As Walker and another deputy were talking to her, she took off in her BMW 528i. Walker got back into his patrol car and went after Bazi. Speeds reached up to 140 mph, according to the dash camera video. Walker performed a PIT maneuver to end the chase, but Bazi took off again. Walker eventually caught up to Bazi. During the second part of the chase, the video showed Bazi use her blinker to follow the move over law for a driver who was on the side of the highway.
