Madi Prewett Comments About Spanking Spark Backlash

Cosmopolitan3 days ago
Bachelor star Madison Prewitt and her husband Grant Troutt are facing backlash for podcast comments they made about plans to spank their daughter, Hosanna.
Per Page Six, fans have accused the couple of appearing "giddy" over the thought of spanking their child, especially since Grant said it would be "hilarious" when they started to implement corporal punishment.
"The Lord's discipline is always off of the heels of disobedience or sin," Grant said. "So think about it, when you have a child, you don't just discipline them for being good and obeying you, right? Like, if Hosanna obeys us, we're not like, 'Come here, girl, come here. Alright, pull 'em down, get that — you know — Mama, get her.'"
Grant added, "Which will be hilarious by the way, when we start spanking Hosanna. Which we will, on the record, because the Bible clearly says, 'Folly is bound up in a child, but discipline drives it far away.'"
Madison (aka Madi) then chimed in with "It also specifically says discipline with a rod. Well some people could say, 'You can discipline them with time outs.' Hold on, it says with a rod."
There are a loooootttt of comments and reaction videos addressing these comments, and TLDR: people aren't thrilled.
As a reminder, Madi competed on Peter Weber's season of The Bachelor, briefly dated him, and then the relationship ended—in no small part because Peter's mom Barb was not here for it.

3 Shakespeare One-Liners That Nail It

Shakespeare was a master of the English language, and we owe to him over 1,700 new words, which were either entirely invented by him (for example, 'lonely'), combined existing words in novel ways ('bedroom'), added prefixes or suffixes to existing words ('dauntless'), or simply changed the function of the traditional part of speech ('elbow' as a verb). Even personal names were invented by him—the name Jessica, for example, is recorded as first appearing in 'The Merchant of Venice.' This incredible linguistic fluency was, of course, one of the reasons why he was, and is, considered such a great poet, and why he remains the most widely quoted writer in the English language (though the Bible remains the most quoted source). It is easy, therefore, to quote ringing passages from his plays or poems.

‘Perfect Match' Season 3: Which Couples Are Still Together?

One of the most chaotic reality dating shows is back! The first six episodes of Perfect Match season three have just dropped on Netflix and it's just as messy, hilarious and full of heartbreak as the previous two seasons. But which couples are still together? The Netflix reality show brings together a bunch of singles from a variety of different reality shows. Usually it's just Netflix originals, but this year they've invited cast members from Love Island, The Bachelor, and other shows too. In each episode the cast must chose who to match up with and the following day they compete in a challenge. The winning couple from the challenge then gets to head to the boardroom where they can send themselves or their fellow cast members on dates with newbies. And then when everyone is back in the villa after various dates they must then choose who to match up with that evening. It leads to a lot of couple swapping and the dumping of many contestants. However, throughout the show there's been some strong couples, and right now as of the first six episodes airing there's five couples. So who is in a couple right now? And which matches are still together IRL? Here's what you need to know. Relationship status: Still together Ok so technically at the end of episode six Olly is in a match with Justine, however, we already know that Olly and AD are now engaged and expecting a baby together. The pair shocked the reality TV world, when back in March earlier this year the couple announced they were engaged, as we had no idea at the time they were even dating. However, it was shortly announced later that they appeared on Perfect Match together. At the start of the series they instantly connected and were all over each other. However, after building a strong connection, the beginning of episode six shocked viewers when Nick Lachey turned up. He revealed Daniel and Lucy had been given the task of who to send home and it was decided that AD and Freddie should leave. AD and Olly both seemed extremely upset by the decision, but it lead to Olly going on a date with two women—Justine and Olivia. He ended up rematching with Justine. However, given we know he and AD are now engaged and expecting a baby, we reckon she'll return to the house at some point. Relationship status: Still together (we think) Lucy and Daniel have been together from day one. However, it hasn't always been smooth sailing. They've had some high highs, including a very spicy bondage date, but they've also had some low lows. At one point during the season Daniel called Lucy 'embarrassing' which naturally caused her to get upset and doubt their connection. Despite this however, the pair chose to match again at the end of episode six with Daniel apologizing. Lucy acknowledged that while it was a painful moment she didn't want to throw their connection away after one argument. Relationship status: Still together (we think) Who would have thought Too Hot To Handle's Louis would be in one couple for the whole show? As of the end of episode six he's been with The Ultimatum's Sandy for their entire time in the house. They matched on day one and have continued building a strong connection. There's been some bumps in the road, including one of Louis' other interests Alex saying she would be up for a threesome, which Sandy was not down for. And in episode six the pair had one of their most dramatic moments when Louis called Sandy out for getting to know one of the other guys. They ended the episode matching but not on great terms. Louis then apologized to Sandy when they were in bed together and so now they seem to be on a better track. Relationship status: Still together (we think) Would it be a dating show without Love Island's Scott? No of course not. The Islander entered the house after being chosen for Rachel to go on a date with. It's still pretty early days for these two but they seem to have a good connection and chemistry, and neither seem interested in getting to know anyone else. Could we see Scott end a show in a couple? Relationship status: Still together (we think) Madison and Jalen are the newest couple to make a match. They got together after Madison's previous match Freddie was chosen to leave the house after Lucy and Daniel had to send someone on a date and that meant their current match had to leave. Madison was devastated when Freddie left but has been getting on pretty well with Jalen so far, so maybe he is a better match for her? Perfect Match is available on Netflix right now.

'Golden Bachelor' Mel Owens breaks silence on 'insensitive' age cutoff controversy

The incoming "Golden Bachelor" Mel Owens is speaking out about the controversy surrounding his cutoff age comments. In June, the NFL veteran-turned-lawyer and father sparked backlash when he revealed he would eliminate any of the dating show's female contestants aged 60 or over – even if they were there for the right reasons. But Owens, 66, clarified his comments and apologized to Bachelor Nation fans in a Glamour magazine interview published Friday, Aug. 1. Owens – who admitted that he now knows his belief "was incorrect" – told the outlet that "my friend called me from Michigan. She's 65, and I went to school with her, and she's an attorney and a hot shot for the Big Ten in administration," adding that he "didn't know she's also a big fan" of "The Bachelor." The new 'Golden Bachelor' Mel Owens says he will 'cut' any woman older than 60 "She said to me, 'Mel…no. What are you doing?' She goes, 'I'm reading all about it.' I didn't know that it hit that hard. She goes, 'You've got to right the wrong.' So I listened to her," Owens told Glamour. "That's how I found out, basically." He is set to star on Season 2 of the ABC reality TV dating franchise's male edition for older contestants, succeeding the inaugural lead Gerry Turner, who also sparked backlash for offscreen behavior. When asked by Glamour why he decided to go on a show called "The Golden Bachelor" if he didn't want to date women over 60, Owens said it was "because I didn't know anything about 'The Golden Bachelor' ages." "I'm thinking, to me, the age range was 45 to 60," the ex-linebacker told Glamour. "That's my age range. I'm thinking that's the gold years for me." Despite this, Owens said he "apologized to the women on the show." "When I first walked in, I addressed it. I apologized to them," Owens added. "I said, 'It was unfair, insensitive. I want to earn it back. Just give me the chance.' And hopefully, these last two weeks I earned some of that back." Owens also said that his season's contestants' ages are "60, 65, maybe 70," and they gave him a hard time about his comments. Why Mel Owens' age cutoff comments garnered backlash Owens first stirred fan outrage in a June 4 interview on the "In The Trenches" podcast, hosted by Jon Jansen for the University of Michigan Athletics (where Owens attended college). "It's blind up until they get out of the limo. But they asked me, 'What's your preferences?' So, I just said 45 to 60, just being honest," Owens shared. A post shared by The Golden Bachelor (@goldenbachabc) Who is the new 'Golden Bachelor'? Meet Mel Owens, the Season 2 leading man "And then the process went, and I was selected, right? And then we had lunch with the executive producer. I said, 'you know, if they're 60 or over, I'm cutting them,'" Owens said. "Oh Mel, you can't, you know, this is not the 'Silver Bachelor.' It's the 'Golden Bachelor.'" Owens said the executive producer told him not to "worry about it" and the women were still "going to be hot." The former NFL first round draft pick also garnered controversy for other comments: "Well, I don't think they're (there are) going to be artificial hips or wigs there, right?" he asked on the same podcast. "Because I know there's amazing women out there." When does the 'Golden Bachelor' 2025 season air? Season 2 of "The Golden Bachelor" premieres Wednesday, Sept. 24. Originally a Michigan native, the Los Angeles Rams alum now lives in Orange County, California, and works at a local law firm. Contributing: Amaris Encinas
