Sena protests against Prithviraj Chavan for advocating term ‘Sanatani terrorism'
Chavan's pronouncement sparked protests by the Shiv Sena in Mumbai and Thane. In Mumbai, one such stir was held in Parel, where Shiv Sena activists tried to barge into the Congress headquarters at Tilak Bhavan. The police stopped them a few metres away, and this led to heated arguments between the two. Most of the protesters were women leaders and activists, who said they wanted an apology from Chavan and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Rahul Gandhi for 'insulting the Hindu religion'.
A statement released by the Shiv Sena said that the Congress' 'narrative' of 'Hindu terrorism' had received a 'major blow' after the NIA court acquitted all seven Hindu accused in the Malegaon bomb blasts case. 'Despite this, leaders like Prithviraj Chavan continue to use terms like 'Sanatan terrorism' and 'Hindu terrorism', which is an insult to Hindus,' read the statement. 'The Shiv Sena condemns these remarks. It also criticises the Congress ideology of appeasement. By using the terms 'Hindu terrorism' and 'saffron terror', leaders like Sushilkumar Shinde, Prithviraj Chavan, Digvijay Singh, P Chidambaram and Rahul Gandhi are defaming Hindus.'
Chavan had explained his stance in an interview to a news channel. 'For us 'bhagwa' (saffron) is a holy word,' he said while referring to the Malegaon verdict. 'It is a symbol of the struggle for independence. It was also the colour of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's flag. Instead of using 'saffron terrorism', terms such as Hindu terrorism, Hindu fundamentalism or Sanatani terrorism should be used.'
The former CM also declared that the 'country's first terrorist' was Nathuram Godse. 'The first terror act of terror in independent India was conducted by Nathuram Godse. He assassinated Mahatma Gandhi. Which religion did he belong to—or did he change his religion after killing Gandhi?' remarked 79-year Chavan sardonically.
In response, Shiv Sena president Eknath Shinde, who was in Thane, declared that all Hindus were good people. 'Chavan's remarks are condemnable, as Hindus or Sanatanis never do injustice with anyone,' he told reporters. 'Hindus are tolerant. Chavan has insulted the Hindu and Sanatan religion and he will have to pay the price for it.'

The Supreme Court has ruled that the process was fair. Every time a decision goes against Rahul Gandhi, he questions the judiciary. But when a verdict favors him, the court becomes 'super'. This double standard must stop.' Commenting on the voter roll discrepancies in Mahadevapura, Surya questioned the sudden uproar. 'If the issue has existed for years, why protest now? It's clear—Congress wants power. Rahul Gandhi is unable to mentally accept that PM Modi has led the country successfully for 10–11 years. Power once belonged to them. They can't handle the people's verdict, and hence continue to attack the judiciary, Lokpal, and other institutions.'

Kishan Reddy slams Cong for betraying BCs, pushing Telangana into debt
New Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 7 (UNI) Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Telangana, accusing it of betraying Backward Classes (BCs), mismanaging the state's economy, and indulging in diversionary tactics to hide its failures. Speaking to the media in the national capital on Thursday, Kishan Reddy alleged that the Congress party, both before and after coming to power, has consistently deceived the people of Telangana. "They came to power on the back of tall promises — six guarantees and 420 sub-guarantees — all of which remain unfulfilled. Instead, they've taken loans just to repay existing debts, and brought the state to the brink of economic collapse," he said. He criticised the Congress leadership — naming Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Rahul Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi — for what he called empty rhetoric and political theatre. 'After failing to deliver, they are now making meaningless allegations against the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to deflect attention from their incompetence,' he remarked. On the issue of BC welfare, Kishan Reddy came down hard on the Congress, accusing the party of making false declarations in the name of various communities. 'They promised Rs 1 lakh crore for BCs, of which Rs 40,000 crore should have been spent by now. But nothing has been done,' he said. Highlighting the government's failure to conduct a comprehensive BC survey, the Union Minister criticised the exclusion of large swathes of Hyderabad. 'Calling such an incomplete effort a great survey is shameful. They reduced the BC count and are trying to include religious groups under BC quotas — an injustice to genuine BC communities.' He warned against attempts to create unrest by pushing religious-based reservations. 'Is this the Telangana model? Deceiving BCs and doing politics in the name of religion?' he questioned, adding that in the last GHMC elections, despite 50 BC-reserved seats, 31 were won by non-BCs, raising questions about the fairness of the reservation system. Kishan Reddy compared the Congress's corruption to that of the previous BRS government. 'If KCR turned the state into a private company with wholesale corruption, Congress is indulging in retail corruption,' he said. He also condemned derogatory remarks made by a Telangana woman minister about the President of India, demanding an unconditional apology from Sonia Gandhi. 'This is not just political indecency — it is an insult to every woman in this country.' Kishan Reddy pointed out that Congress has historically wronged the BCs — from ignoring the Kaka Kalelkar and Mandal Commission reports to now attempting to dilute BC reservations. 'The BJP, on the other hand, has given constitutional status to the BC Commission and 27 per cent reservation in higher education,' he added. Targeting Revanth Reddy's recent remarks, he asked, 'You call Modi a converted BC — are you a converted Chief Minister of Congress?' He questioned the Congress's hypocrisy on caste recognition and reservations, reminding that it was Congress that listed Modi's community as BC during its tenure. Ridiculing the Congress's national ambitions, Kishan Reddy said, 'They dream of removing Modi and making Rahul the PM. This is the same Rahul Gandhi under whose leadership the party has lost three consecutive Lok Sabha elections and disappeared from many states.' The Trump administration had first announced a 25% tariff on Indian goods on August 1, and followed it up almost a week later with an additional 25%, targeting India's oil trade with Russia. Reacting sharply, Kharge said the Modi government had failed to protect India's economic interests. "India's national interest is supreme," Kharge said, slamming the Centre for what he called a "clueless" foreign policy. He added, "Trump's 50% Tariffs comes at a time, when our own diplomacy is disastrously dithering." Kharge also recalled how India had handled tough phases in the past with dignity. "From the threats of 7th fleet to the sanctions of Nuclear tests, we have navigated our relationship with the US with self-respect and dignity," he said. President Trump signed the executive order for the extra 25% tariff on Wednesday. The first 25% tariff will come into effect from August 7, 2025, while the second round will begin 21 days later.
