Hamilton was too greedy over the top of the hill with the kerb, with all four wheels going just over the white line and costing him dearly.
The British 40-year-old had the pace and was on track to finish in seventh, which would have comfortably seen him through to Q2.
On his team radio, Hamilton said: "Is everything okay?"
To which his race engineer Riccardo Adami said: 'Track limits at turn 4."

Hamilton asked: 'Am I out?"
Adami finished with: 'Yeah, lap time is deleted.'
It comes after he qualified in 18th for the sprint race on Friday before finishing the race today in 15th.
He spun off track in the sprint qualifying after locking up, leaving him unable to complete his lap.

He said: 'I spun… There's not much to say.
'Tomorrow's a new day. Obviously I'm massively frustrated… Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.'

Hamilton's woes in Spa came after the British driver held crunch talks with Ferrari chiefs ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix.
Hamilton prepared documents and held a number of meetings following his fourth-place Silverstone finish.
He remains without a Grand Prix podium after 12 races, although he did win the China sprint and finish third in the shorter Miami race.
Ferrari has not won a title of any kind since the Constructors' Championship in 2008, while their last drivers' title was with Kimi Raikkonen in 2007.
Hamilton said: "The team have had amazing drivers - Fernando [Alonso], Sebastian [Vettel] - and yet they didn't win a title with Ferrari.
"I refuse for that to be the case with me, that's why I am going the extra mile. If you take the same path, you get the same results."

Five reasons why Ford Ranger's new plug in hybrid is the best pick-up truck the firm has EVER made

We easily covered 1,000 miles and I didn't get a numb bum once POWER RANGER Five reasons why Ford Ranger's new plug in hybrid is the best pick-up truck the firm has EVER made Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) I'VE been everywhere in this motor over the last ten days. Three hours north to Penrith for a top-secret job with M-Sport. You'll read about that another time. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 Ford's petrol/electric combo makes Britain's No1 pick-up even more practical, keeping the same carrying and towing power as a regular Range Credit: Supplied 3 Inside, you feel safe and properly comfy, with acres of cabin space for four people and their kit Credit: Supplied 3 It can glide along silently for 20-odd miles without waking the petrol engine Three-and-a-half hours west to Llangurig for another cool story. Five hours south to West Wittering beach. And more places besides. Here's what I learned. A pick-up truck has to be the most useful invention after a fork. I came across many farmers doing farmer things on my travels. Builders carrying building stuff. Bikers with bikes in the back. Some bloke towing a climbing wall. Two more with boats. Ranger XL pick-up is totally brilliant and my new favourite Ford - it's proper comfy, pulls like a train and best bit is the price Coastguards patrolling the beach. All of them using their pick-up trucks as tools. They probably didn't realise I was testing the first Ford Ranger with a plug-in hybrid. Because you just wouldn't know any different. Unless you spotted the two filler flaps. The thing is, this petrol/electric combo makes Britain's No1 pick-up even more useable. It has the same minerals as a regular Ranger in terms of carrying stuff and towing things. But it's got more torque and an e-mode. So it can glide along silently for 20-odd miles without waking the petrol engine. Plus, you can use it to power work tools. Bosh. Obviously, the most efficient way to charge the 11.8kWh battery is with a plug. Speak to Ford nicely and they'll fit a home charger for a tenner. KEY FACTS: FORD RANGER Price: £40,841 exc VAT Engine: 2.3-litre petrol plug-in hybrid Economy: 28 mpg 0-62mph: 9.2 secs Power: 281 hp Top speed: 105 mph CO2: 71g/km Out: ???? But I recharged the battery on the go by pressing the 'EV Charge' button. It sucked up 19 miles of electrons for use later. And I still averaged 32mpg – trumping the official 28mpg. Although admittedly I wasn't doing any heavy lifting at the time. 'Auto EV' is the default mode that uses both power sources for as long as it can to make life as smooth as possible. By the way, the 2.3-litre engine is lifted from the Focus ST. The ten-speed auto from Mustang. So proper kit. Other observations. The cabin. You feel safe up here, properly comfy, with acres of cabin space for four people and their kit. We easily covered 1,000 miles and I didn't get a numb bum once. The upright touchscreen is a doddle to use. That shelf in front of the passenger seat is great for storing phones, sunglasses, sweets and receipts. Sometimes it's the little things that please. To conclude, then. Ford hasn't just ticked boxes by adding a plug-in hybrid to the Ranger line-up. I'd say it's the best pick-up truck Ford has ever made.

‘It's complicated…I made different choice' – Single Lewis Hamilton, 40, opens up on love life and plans after retiring

LEWIS HAMILTON has opened up about making a "different choice" to prioritise "winning" in his Formula One career above all else. And that includes relationships, with the legendary Brit cementing his name as one of the best F1 drivers of all time. 6 Hamilton, 40, hasn't gone public with a girlfriend since his famous relationship with Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger. After having an on/off romance that spanned seven years, the former couple eventually called it quits in 2015. Hamilton 's love life has since been unclear, with the F1 star winning four of his seven world championships since their split. Most recently, rumours that he was dating pop singer Raye were sent into overdrive after her latest appearance in the Ferrari garage at Silverstone. But, in an interview with French publication RTBF, Hamilton said he has long since parked his love life, something which is 'very complicated' to balance these days. Put to him that it must be hard to also have a private life on the side, Hamilton replied: 'Yes, it's very complicated, especially in today's world. 'I see other drivers and I wonder how they manage it. Some have children, are married, have girlfriends. 'I went through that when I was in my twenties. I've made a different choice: I've decided to maximise the time I have here because it's shorter than you think. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK 6 'I don't want to have any regrets, or think that I could have given more.' The Ferrari driver added: 'Over the last ten years, I've concentrated on my performance. And when I retire, I'll be able to do what I want. Lewis Hamilton gives lucky F1 rival a lift home on his private jet 'I'll be able to devote myself to other things without constraints. 'As long as I'm competing, I'm concentrating on my health, my well-being, my mental health and my driving technique. 'I want to be the best engineer I can be and the best team-mate too. That's my main objective: I want to win.' Interestingly enough only TWO F1 drivers currently on the grid are fathers, with Max Verstappen recently joining Nico Hulkenberg in the dad's club. Hamilton mostly wants to win a record eighth world title with Ferrari, after joining the Scuderia from Mercedes at the end of last season. He added: 'My dream is to win a title with Ferrari. It's been a long time since that happened. 'Ferrari has all the ingredients to win, you just have to put it all together. That's what I'm trying to do behind the scenes with Fred Vasseur and the team.' 6 But Hamilton has suffered a challenging start to life as a Ferrari driver. His wait for a first podium with the team is ongoing while Charles Leclerc has pulled off that achievement five times this year, including at the most recent Belgian Grand Prix. Hamilton has done plenty of that, his tally of 105 Grand Prix wins unmatched, while he holds the title record alongside Michael Schumacher. Hamilton has also been in r umoured relationships with other celebrities in the past, including singer Rihanna, Rita Ora, Barbara Palvin, Winnie Harlow and Danielle Lloyd. In 2023 he was romantically linked with Colombian singer Shakira, but their relationship never went past the friend zone. 6
