North Carolina could bring back iconic uniform for 2025 football season
Will the Tar Heels bring back an iconic uniform? The excitment around the North Carolina Tar Heels' football program is at an all-time high as they get ready to usher in a new era under Bill Belichick. As the legendary head coach begins his first season with the program, many are hoping he can turn things around. There will be a lot of attention on the program nationally as well. Belichick is obviously a big name in the business and landing a head coach like him was huge for the program. It also opened up the door for new opportunities in terms of revenue and fun ideas for the program. That includes the return of a classic uniform possibly this season. Per Taylor Vippolis of Inside Carolina, the Tar Heels have placed an order for the 1980's throwback uniform, hoping to wear them this year. The Tar Heels brought back the navy uniforms a few years back which ended up being a hit. This classic uniform is a fan favorite, donned by Lawrence Taylor among other Tar Heel legends. Bringing it back would be a HUGE hit with the fanbase and with Belichick's ties to Taylor, it makes a lot of sense. There's no word on if these were approved or what games they would wear them for but I can't see why they would say no. Let's hope we get to see these at some point this season. Texas A&M's tough 2025-2026 SEC basketball schedule has been revealed
Texas A&M's 2025-2026 basketball season will be the first for new head coach Bucky McMillan, who is just one player away from entering his inaugural campaign with a 15-player roster that is talented enough to compete for an NCAA Tournament bid. This summer, the new roster has been hard at work, getting acclimated to the speed and intensity of McMillan's system. After five seasons leading the Samford Bulldogs, McMillan is entering the toughest conference in college basketball, as the SEC has dominated the landscape in both recruiting and NCAA Tournament success. His new roster has enough star power, including former Texas Tech/Creighton guard Pop Issacs and Indiana transfer forward Mackenzie Mgbako, who are expected to lead the Aggies in several categories. On Wednesday, Texas A&M's SEC schedule was released, and, similar to last season, the Aggies will be challenged from start to finish. Thanks to TexAgs for the graphic, the Aggies will kick off the 2026 SEC season against LSU at home, before facing Auburn on the road, Oklahoma at home, and then two consecutive road games against Tennessee and Texas. Outside of LSU, who should be improved, but not considered one of the top teams, Auburn, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas could all be ranked in the Top 25 at this time. Texas A&M will also face Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, and Vanderbilt on the road, which is quite the gauntlet for any first-year head coach. However, the Aggies are expected to be one of the top-scoring teams in the conference, so defense and rebounding are the fundamental questions that will be answered once the season begins. Two Iowa football stars named preseason All-Americans
The Iowa Hawkeyes are littered with talent up and down their roster on offense, defense, and special teams. With a veteran presence, as they carry most years, the Hawkeyes retained some key contributors for another year and are seeing them receive proper notoriety. Two of those key pieces returning are kick and punt return specialist Kaden Wetjen and offensive lineman Gennings Dunker. Both are expected to continue their success at Iowa with big years in 2025. Wetjen and Dunker helped Iowa win games in 2024, and the same will be expected from them this year. With the expectations on them, both of the Iowa stars have been named Sporting News preseason All-Americans. Both were named to the second team. Kaden Wetjen flashed his magic last year for Iowa on special teams. The return specialist put on a show when he touched the ball and made opponents pay for kicking it to him. Wetjen returned 26 kickoffs, averaging 28 yards per return with a touchdown, and returned 26 punts for 12.6 yards per return with another touchdown. Gennings Dunker figures to be a staple on an Iowa offensive line that could be the catalyst of their success this year. He enters his fourth year with the program with 34 games and 25 starts under his belt. His experience and dependability will be called on by Iowa's offense all season long.
