‘Surrender or face elimination', MP CM warns Maoists
Balaghat: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav gave clear warning to the Maoists, saying 'they must surrender otherwise, they will be eliminated'.
The Chief Minister made this remark while addressing a programme in Balaghat.
He said that the Madhya Pradesh government has taken a pledge to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to make the country LWE-free by 2026.
'The Maoists must surrender, otherwise they will be eliminated. There is no room for LWE on Madhya Pradesh soil,' the Chief Minister said during the event in Balaghat.
Highlighting the success of ongoing anti-LWE operations in the state, he said that Balaghat which was once listed among the 12 most Maoist-affected districts, has been removed from that list.
'Thanks to the government's resolve and the hard work of the police, Balaghat has now been reclassified by the Centre into a less critical category. It could happen because of our security forces,' Yadav said.
During the programme, the Chief Minister honoured 64 security personnel (Police, Hawk Force, and Special Armed Forces), who were granted out-of-turn promotions for their involvement in recent Maoist encounters in Balaghat district.
Chief Minister Yadav also honoured 37 brave police personnel, who made the supreme sacrifice, stating that 'death is inevitable, but let it be one that makes the nation, the state, and society proud'. He stated that under Home Minister Amit Shah's guidance, anti-Maoist operations are being intensified across the country.
Madhya Pradesh Police are being equipped with modern weapons and technology to strengthen this campaign.

Manipur tense after Meitei member's arrest; Local group declares 10-day shutdown
IMPHAL: Tensions escalated across the valley districts of Manipur following the arrest of Asem Kanan, a member of the Meitei group Arambai Tenggol, by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Guwahati, on Sunday. In a press release, CBI said: 'Kanan was arrested on Sunday at Imphal airport for his involvement in various criminal activities linked to the 2023 Manipur violence. His family has been informed of the arrest.' The statement also mentioned that CBI is investigating cases related to the Manipur violence as per the directive of the Supreme Court of India. 'Due to the prevailing law-and-order situation, the trial of these cases has been shifted from Manipur to Guwahati,' it said. CBI further confirmed that Kanan has been transported to Guwahati and will be produced before a competent court for police remand. According to police officials familiar with the matter, Kanan was arrested along with four other Arambai Tenggol members on Saturday from Imphal. However, the CBI's official statement confirmed only the arrest of Kanan. Meanwhile, violent protests erupted in Imphal city. Hundreds of demonstrators blocked major roads using burning tyres, wooden planks, and other debris. Security forces fired tear gas shells, mock bombs, and live rounds to disperse the crowds. Amid the chaos, a 13-year-old boy sustained serious injuries to his leg, reportedly from a tear gas shell explosion. He was evacuated to a nearby hospital. From Saturday evening to 5.30 pm Sunday, at least 11 people were reported injured in connection with the unrest, with the situation continuing to deteriorate in the evening. Security forces have been deployed at key locations across Imphal, including Palace Compound in Imphal East, and Keishampat Bridge, Moirangkhom, and Tiddim Road stretching up to Imphal airport in Imphal West. Arambai Tenggol on Saturday announced a 10-day statewide shutdown demanding the unconditional release of the arrested volunteers. Additionally, a women's group from Khurai in Imphal East issued a stern warning, demanding that 'all MLAs currently outside the state return to Imphal and form a new popular government by 6 pm on June 10.' The group declared that any MLA who fails to return by the deadline will not be allowed to re-enter the state. As of 5.30 pm Sunday, the situation remained highly volatile in the valley districts, with security on high alert and public anger mounting.

Maha: Fadnavis releases entrepreneur Dr Chaudhary's book in Pune
Pune, June 8 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday released Dr Pramod Chaudhary's book, "Pailatiravarun... Tar As Zhaal", which chronicles the latter's entrepreneurial journey. Speaking at the book release ceremony held at auditorium of COEP Technological University, the Chief Minister praised Dr Chaudhary's work in the ethanol sector, describing it as a form of national service by a visionary entrepreneur. He recalled that when the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government was at the Centre, the initiative to increase the ethanol blending percentage had begun, however, in the midst the Vajpayee government left office, causing the topic to be put on the backburner and delaying the ethanol mission. After the Narendra Modi government came to power in 2014, the ethanol topic gained momentum again, he said and pointed that Dr Chaudhary reviewed the ethanol policy, provided suggestions that were incorporated into it and since 2017-18, progress has accelerated. He noted that blending 20 percent ethanol with petrol has resulted in savings of over Rs one lakh crore in foreign exchange and informed that ethanol is being used in aviation fuel and predicted that vehicles will run on biofuels in the future. Fadnavis highlighted the potential for creating a policy to make current plastics biodegradable, which could lead to the development of industries based on this technology. He mentioned that Dr Chaudhary had prepared a report on creating a Compressed Biogas (CBG) project using agricultural waste, rice waste and Mahua flower waste in Gadchiroli.
