Manchester City reduce Premier League ticket prices for 2025-26 after fan protests
Ticket prices had led to supporter protests at City in recent months and prompted their April decision to freeze prices for the upcoming campaign.
Earlier that month, many of the club's supporters boycotted the opening of their Premier League fixture against Leicester City.

Fans gathered outside the Etihad ahead of the match with the banner 'MCFC — For the love not the money', while hundreds did not enter the stadium for the first nine minutes of the match, causing them to miss Jack Grealish's opening goal after one minute and 49 seconds in the fixture.
City say they have taken the decision to reduce price bands for 2025-26 following consultation with fan network City Matters.
Matchday prices for lower category games will, depending on seat selection, vary between £30 and £50 while the highest category matches will be between £40 and £60.
In a statement, City say that by way of comparison, their derby against Manchester United will see lowest-priced tickets reduced by 43 per cent from 2024-25, while higher priced tickets are down 22 per cent.
City Matters said they 'warmly welcome' the news, which they believe will make the side's games more 'accessible' for fans.
'Through our dialogue with the club, the matchday pricing reductions, season ticket price freeze, release of new season tickets, and flexi gold season ticket fee adjustments highlight the value of fan voices through City Matters,' the fan group said.
'This announcement shows the club's commitment to City Matters and is a positive end to this season and our working relationship.'
The group added they were looking forward to 'continued engagement and transparency with the club' in future seasons.

Kiara Romero, who's set to begin her third season at Oregon this fall after making a run to the quarterfinals of the 2025 U.S. Women's Amateur, has been named winner of the Mark H. McCormack medal, the United States Golf Association and R&A announced Wednesday. The McCormack medal is given to the leading female player in the 2025 World Amateur Golf Ranking. Lottie Woad won the award last year. Romero receives exemptions into the 2026 U.S. Women's Open at Riviera Country Club and the 2026 AIG Women's Open at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in England, provided she remains amateur. 'It's an incredible honor to win the McCormack Medal,' Romero said in a release. 'This is a really nice reminder of how far I've already come in my golf career. I know how special winning this medal is, and I hope I can follow in the footsteps of the inspiring players who have won it before me.' Through two seasons at Oregon, she has risen to be arguably the best player in school history. As a sophomore, she was one of the finalists for the Annika Award after winning the Big 10 individual championship and the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional. The 2023 U.S. Girls' Junior champion also set a record for lowest final round by an amateur in a U.S. Women's Open, shooting 5-under 67 at Erin Hills earlier this year. How Tesla's Cybertruck could keep UK homes running for days
A Tesla could soon be used to keep the lights on in your home, or even to sell power back to the grid. Tesla cars could soon function as an effective "battery" to supply British homes with electricity as the electric vehicle (EV) maker's new energy venture also allows homeowners to sell surplus energy back to the grid. Elon Musk's company is plotting to enter the British energy market and supply households in the coming months. Tesla has sought approval for an energy licence and reportedly hopes to start supplying energy to homes and businesses in England, Scotland and Wales by next year. Tesla has been involved in the UK energy market since 2020, when it was granted a licence to be an electricity generator. How could a Tesla power a home? In the US, the group has been an electricity supplier for the past three years in Texas, where it supplies electricity via Tesla Electric. The company's "Powershare" technology means households that own one of Tesla Cybertruck models can essentially use their EV as a power source for the home. The process is referred to as V2X – vehicle-to-everything. Because of the sheer size of batteries in EVs, homeowners can effectively "store" electricity in their Tesla. When a power outage is detected, Powershare automatically provides back-up electricity for the home. The Cybertruck, for example, is capable of delivering 11.5 kilowatts of continuous power and is able to meet the energy needs of an average home for three days. The vehicle also has multiple 120V and 240V outlets, which can be used to power devices needed for, say, camping trips. Or even to turn the car into a remote workplace. Paired with other technology – such as home batteries - V2X could allow homes more control over how they buy and use electricity. Households in Texas have also been able to lower their electricity bills by powering a vehicle at night when electricity is cheap, and then using it to run home appliances during the day. What other functions might Tesla bring to the UK? Tesla Electric offers cheap, renewable energy, managed through a mobile app and is built particularly for people who own a Tesla Powerwall home battery or a Tesla vehicle. With Powerwall, consumers are encouraged to buy electricity at night and sell electricity back to the grid when prices are high – this means that the grid is more stable, and customers with Powerwalls can profit. Tesla currently offers Powerwall via energy provider Octopus in the UK. With multiple homes selling electricity to the grid, it works as a virtual power plant, which helps to support the grid at peak times. Tesla says: 'A virtual power plant (VPP) is a network of distributed energy sources such as homes with solar and battery systems, working together as a single power plant. The combined energy of these sources is used to support the electrical grid.' Tesla also sells solar panels, which can be used to top up Powerwall batteries. Declining sales across Europe The news comes amid a backdrop of waning demand for Tesla's electric vehicles across Europe in recent months. New car registrations in Britain and Germany more than halved in July from a year earlier. Some have argued Musk's political support for Donald Trump has impacted sales. However, it is also the case that competition has also increased. Sales of EVs made by China's BYD, for example, rose nearly five-fold in Germany and over four-fold in Britain in July. Nonetheless, industry figures showed an almost 60% plunge in the number of new Tesla registrations in the UK in July, compared with a year earlier. In further bad news for Musk, on 1 August a jury in Florida found Tesla liable to pay $243m (£180m) to victims of a 2019 fatal crash of an autopilot-equipped Model S. Jurors in the Miami federal court awarded the estate of Naibel Benavides Leon, as well as her former boyfriend Dillon Angulo, $129m in compensatory damages plus $200m in punitive damages, according to a verdict sheet. Tesla has said it will appeal the decision, which could encourage more legal action against the company.
