MakeMyTrip launches GenAI-enabled trip planning assistant

New Delhi, Aug 7 (PTI) Online travel services provider MakeMyTrip on Thursday launched a multi-lingual GenAI-enabled trip planning assistant, helping users at every stage of travel planning, from discovery to fulfilment.
The new GenAI trip planning assistant is a notable upgrade to the existing AI agent, Myra, and will make the experience seamless and conversational, enabling travellers to interact via voice and text, the company said in a statement.
This will ensure that users across India, who have previously been unable to book due to discomfort with the English language, will now be able to do so. The Beta version of Myra is now live in English and Hindi, with plans to expand to multiple Indian languages, after fine-tuning conversation flows based on early user feedback, it added.

According to the Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), up to 70 per cent of the total passengers are expected to be availing the government's free travel initiative, the UP government said in a statement on Yogi Adityanath government has offered free travel to women in the state on Raksha Bandhan on UPSRTC buses from August 8 to 10. This facility is also being provided to a single co-traveller accompanying the woman. UPSRTC MD Masoom Ali Sarwar said the buses usually carry 14 to15 lakh passengers every day, but in just the first two days of Raksha Bandhan, the numbers surged past 50 lakh. The 66-hour free travel 'Samman Ka Tohfa' offered by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during Raksha Bandhan started at 6 am on August 8. On August 8, 19.5 lakh passengers availed the free service, while 31.7 lakh passengers travelled on August 9, suggesting a spike of 210 per cent than the normal. By 12.50 pm on August 10, 13 lakh passengers had already travelled, and by midnight, this number is estimated to reach 25 lakh. Last Updated: A British Royal Air Force F-35B fighter jet made an emergency landing at Japan's Kagoshima International Airport due to a technical glitch, similar to a recent incident in India. A British Royal Air Force F-35B fighter jet made an emergency landing at Japan's Kagoshima International Airport on Sunday after the pilot experienced a technical glitch mid-air, local media reported. According to Kyodo News, the flight operations were affected at the airport as the runway was closed for around 20 minutes following the incident. Officials at the Japanese airport said the incident occurred around 11:30 am (local time) when the pilot sought permission for an emergency landing due to a suspected equipment malfunction. The aircraft was moved to a taxiway for inspection. This is a second such incident in recent weeks involving a British F-35B fighter jet after one of the aircraft remained grounded in India for over a month. On June 14, an F-35B fighter jet, en route from the UK to Australia, made an emergency landing at Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram airport after the aircraft encountered a hydraulic system fault. The fighter jet was out on a routine sortie when it developed a snag and could not land on the ship. The plane reached the Thiruvananthapuram airport, which was designated as the emergency recovery airfield, and requested emergency landing permission. Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force provided all required support and assisted in the process, including refuelling. Following the failed repair attempts, a 14-member engineering team from the UK Ministry of Defence was dispatched with specialised equipment to assist in the recovery and maintenance of the jet. The aircraft was moved to a secure hangar at the airport for detailed assessment. The fighter jet finally took off from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on July 22 after remaining grounded at the airport for over a month. The jet, worth over $110 million, is one of the most advanced fighter planes in the world. The F-35B is the only fifth-generation fighter jet with short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) capabilities, making it suitable for small decks, austere bases, and ships. Punjab witnessing unprecedented development: CM Bhagwant Mann
Satauj (Punjab), Aug 10 (PTI) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday said the state is witnessing 'unprecedented" development in every sphere and that massive projects are going on to accelerate its pace of growth. Mann visited his village here in Sangrur district to review the ongoing development works in the Dirba Assembly segment. The development projects are going on in full swing and will be completed soon, he said. The projects have been conceived keeping in view the larger public interest and to give fillip to the ongoing development of the state, Mann said, adding that there is no dearth of funds for such development works and more such projects will be dedicated to the public in the coming days. In the agricultural sector, the chief minister said he had promised to ensure paddy transplantation without the use of tube wells. Canal water has now reached even the remotest villages, he said, adding that since assuming charge, his government has revived 15,947 water channels across Punjab. Mann also spoke about the 'Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana" that will provide cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh for every resident family in Punjab. Punjab is the first state in the country to offer such comprehensive healthcare coverage, which will significantly ease the financial burden on the public while ensuring quality health services, the chief minister said. He said agriculture and farmers have always been the top priority of his government and continuous efforts are being made to make farming profitable. It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that farmers have shared that there is no shortage of electricity or canal water, and they are receiving an uninterrupted supply, the chief minister said. Mann also handed over a cheque for Rs 1.76 crore to the village panchayat to give further impetus to development works.
