Rejected proposal to merge BRS into BJP: K Kavitha
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 29 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Thursday made shocking revelations, claiming that a proposal was made to her during her time in jail for her alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor scam to merge the regional party with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
'A proposal was brought to me when I was in jail to merge the party into BJP. But I rejected it. BRS is Rama Raksha to Telangana,' Kavitha said while talking to the reporters.
On her letter to BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) being 'leaked', she said that her only demand was to learn who has leaked the letter, which was for internal communication only.
'My only demand: who leaked the letter? The letter was for internal communication only,' Kavitha said.
Taking potshots at the leaders from her own party, without naming anyone, she said that when her father KCR received notices in relation to the Kaleshwaram probe, no plan of action was set up.
'When KCR is given notices, there is no action plan. Instead of teaching me, tell me what is your action plan. Twitter tweets are not enough. Shouldn't we be on the ground?' Kavitha said.
'During the Delhi liquor policy, when I went to KCR and wanted to resign, he said that they can't face me, and that's why the case has been filed against you,' she added.
The BRS MLC further criticised people in her party, labelling them 'converts.'
'Is it okay to say there are coverts? Coverts should be controlled, and KCR should be protected,' Kavitha said, adding, 'If BRS is weak, BJP and Congress will become strong.'
Meanwhile, BJP MP Eatala Rajender said, 'The BJP is a democratic party. Any decision that is taken goes through thorough discussion across all its institutions before being finalised.'
Amid all the chaos, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Tuesday embarked on a significant overseas tour to the United Kingdom and the United States, according to the official statement.
The visit includes a mix of political, academic, and industry engagements, reflecting Telangana's growing global stature and KTR's role in shaping its modern narrative.
In the United Kingdom, KTR will participate in India Week 2025, hosted by Bridge India in London, where he will deliver the keynote address. (ANI)

Tipra Motha demands immediate detection, deportation of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Tripura
The Tipra Motha – a constituent of the ruling BJP-led alliance – has demanded the detection and deportation of all illegal migrants from Bangladesh residing in Tripura. A four-member delegation of the party, led by MLA Ranjit Debbarma, met Governor N Indrasena Reddy and raised the demand on Friday. 'We met the Governor today. The issue is that the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has stipulated a 30-day timeframe to start the process of detection and deportation of illegal migrants in Tripura. Earlier, Debbarma wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals, urging him to push them back. The Twipra Students' Federation (TSF) has also demanded that the government start the process of detecting and deporting Bangladeshi migrants staying illegally in the state. 'We have seen that other states are doing it. But the Tripura government is silent. We appeal to the government to take strong initiative regarding the notification. We have started the 'clean and drive illegal migrants mission' from today,' Hamal Jamatia, General Secretary, TSF, said. As per a report of the Tripura Police, 816 Bangladeshi nationals, 79 Rohingya persons, and two Nigerians were arrested between January 1, 2024, and February 28 this year for staying illegally in Tripura. A further breakup of the data shows that 483 illegal foreigners were arrested from August 5, 2024, when the Sheikh Hasina government fell in Bangladesh.

Harish Rao gives presentation on Kaleshwaram, details about the project
Former minister and BRS leader Harish Rao has issued a robust defence of the Kaleshwaram project following criticisms. Presenting a detailed PowerPoint at Telangana Bhavan, Rao highlighted that the project has successfully supplied water to a total of 2.033 million acres. Rao noted that discussions regarding the project proceeded without any objections from Maharashtra, stating that he engaged with Maharashtra representatives to address concerns within 45 days of the government's formation. He said that the Kaleshwaram project encompasses three barrages, fifteen reservoirs, nineteen substations, twenty-one pump houses, 203 kilometres of tunnels, 1,531 kilometres of gravity canals, 98 kilometres of pressure mains, and a storage capacity of 141 TMC, with water lifts reaching heights of 530 metres. "Initially designed to source water from Tammidihati to Yellampalli, the project was relocated to Medigadda due to reduced water availability at Tammidihati. The Medigadda barrage was constructed in seven blocks and supported by 85 piers," Rao said Rao responded to Congress claims that farming had succeeded without Kaleshwaram, asserting that it is this very project that facilitated crop production in the Yasangi season. He emphasised that water availability via the project is sourced from three different locations, capable of filling thousands of tanks. "Everything built from Medigadda to Mallanna Sagar is operational," he added. The canal associated with the Kaleshwaram project alone is projected to provide water for 90,000 acres of land.
