Oir shoppers 'stop using shower gel' thanks to new favourite that smells better

Soap bars are having something of a resurgence and one brand in particular has been praised by shoppers for lasting 'way longer than a shower gel' while being 'cruelty-free and sustainable' No one enjoys the sight of countless plastic bottles and containers cluttering up the side of the bath, ruining the calming aesthetic of the bathroom. To combat this visual mess, shoppers are swapping shower gels for a plastic-free alternative that leaves their bathroom 'smelling like an expensive spa'. It may seem a bit 'back to basics', but soap bars are experiencing a bit of a comeback. One brand in particular has been applauded by shoppers for lasting 'way longer than a shower gel' while being 'cruelty-free and sustainable'. Independent Scottish brand Òir - pronounced oar, meaning 'golden' in Gaelic - is creating handmade soaps that are becoming popular among those wanting to reduce plastic without sacrificing quality or luxury. They're currently offering customers a discount, perfect for trying the brand for the first time, or saving on festive spending. 63p-a-day supplement for menopausal women that helps them 'feel like their old selves' Next is selling beauty box with £90 worth of makeup, skincare and more for £20 To persuade more people to make the switch, Òir is currently offering 15% off any purchase with a special discount code. Plus, free delivery is available on all orders over £30. Running until 30 September, anyone who uses the code OIR15 will see their price reduced at the checkout. Each bar of Òir's soap, priced at £12.50, is completely plastic-free, vegan, and devoid of palm oil, with the scent derived solely from essential oils. The soaps are beautifully designed, coloured with clay and activated charcoal. Òir offers a variety of scents, including a fragrance-free option for sensitive skin. Their soaps are designed to last longer than your average bottle of shower gel. The formula, which includes cocoa butter and shea butter, is 'super moisturising', ensuring it never dries out the skin. Elsewhere, AKT is selling a body wash concentrate for £26. It features skin-balancing prebiotics, moisture-locking olive squalane, and nourishing vitamin E. Formulated without added water, it delivers a three-times concentrated formula that activates in the shower. Wild is offering their natural refillable shower gels with a case and refill starting from £15.40. The cases, priced at £12, can be refilled with your choice of scented shower gel for years to come. As for Òir, their soaps have been receiving rave reviews from customers who can't get enough of the scents. One shopper, speaking about the lemongrass, clary sage, rosemary hand and body soap, said: "Bathroom smells like an expensive spa. Stopped using shower gels years ago and tried various soaps and this is by far my favourite so far. Smells great, lathers well, not drying on skin and lasts." "I use Oir soap every day," said a fan of the cedarwood, clary sage, rose geranium, vetiver hand and body soap. "It smells amazing and to know that it's free of nasties, cruelty-free and sustainable makes it the perfect soap. It lasts way longer than a shower gel and smells sooo much better." One shopper expressed their disappointment, stating they wouldn't purchase the soap again due to its size. They wrote: "The scent is really good but I'm finding the size a bit big for my little hands. So much so I won't be buying any more." However, the brand suggests slicing the bars in half before use to make them easier to handle. Another customer, a fan of the peppermint, lavender, patchouli, tea tree hand and body soap chimed in: "This is the second Oir hand and body soap I've had. Got one for Xmas and just had to have another. Smells stunning and lasts. Moisturising too. My shower room smells of it too. Will definitely be sticking with Oir." Whether you're new to bar soaps or a long-time advocate, looking to reduce plastic waste in your home, conscious of what you're applying on your skin, or simply hunting for Christmas stocking fillers that are thoughtful and sustainable, Òir could be a fantastic choice.

The popular item has been praised for its "soft and stylish" appearance that adds a touch of hotel-like elegance to any room. Dunelm has added lots of items to its clearance section, making room for new items ahead of the upcoming autumn and winter season. One item that has lots of glowing reviews is the Hotel 200 Thread Count Check Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set. Normally £32, they have been discounted to £22.40 in the sale, whilst stocks last. The sheets are available in three colours (white, silver and sage green), but all of the options only come in Super King size. People could get similar bedding elsewhere, such as the Reversible Check Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set from Next (from £15). Or, shoppers could get the OHS Check Duvet Cover Bedding Set Quilt Pillowcase from Debenhams (from £11.99). "Best of all, it's surprisingly easy to iron, which is a huge bonus." A third wrote: "Looks fresh and feels soft and fits my king size duvet very well." But, not all shoppers were very pleased with what bought. One said: "Doesn't wash great and is oversized, not impressed won't be buying again." Someone else added: "Nice duvet, but it doesn't come with the two pillow cases." It is stated on the Dunelm website the larger bedsheet set does come with two pillowcases. The single version comes with one, but this isn't available to purchase anyway. One more shopper complained: "Good value but creases the worst I've ever seen when washed and tumble dried and takes ages to iron out the creases." However, the majority of shoppers did get a five-star-worthy experience. A Dunelm customer said: "The crisp white look adds a fresh, hotel-style feel to the room. Would definitely recommend and will likely buy again for our guest room." And, one more added: "Great duvet set, finished off my son's bedroom brilliantly. Nice quality, soft and stylish."

Dunelm's bargain 'really pretty' floral bedding shoppers say is 'soft and comfortable'

If you're keen to give your bedroom a fresh look without breaking the bank or undertaking a major redecoration, Dunelm's charming bedding set might be just what you need. The retailer is offering the Darla Floral Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set in either pink or sage green, with a tempting 30% discount on the pink choice, but the sage option is a bit of a bargain too. The pretty pink floral set is priced £14 for a single set, while a double is priced at £16.80, a king size at £21, and a super king size at £23.80. The soft and calming sage green version costs £20 for a single. £24 for a double, £30 for the king size and £34 for the super king size. For comparison, Next offers a Reversible Printed Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set starting at £20, available in four floral designs. Meanwhile, Amazon has the Catherine Lansfield Meadowsweet Floral Reversible Duvet Cover Set on sale for just £26.28 for a king size. Shoppers have been heaping praise on the Dunelm bedding. One satisfied customer remarked: "Excellent value. Very pleased with the quality, washes well and feels soft and comfortable.", reports Birmingham Live. Another shared their enthusiasm: "Like a lot, keeps me cooler being lighter yet warm and cosy." A third concurred: "Really pretty bedding. Feels great in the bed. Washes well, easy to iron and excellent quality." The Dunelm bedding set is also reversible with a very subtle floral pattern in pink almost disappearing into the pink background, if you fancy a change of look at any time. The set comes with button fastening, is machine washable and can be popped in the tumble drying on a low setting. However, not everyone was completely satisfied, as one shopper expressed disappointment: "This duvet cover looks lovely on the bed but creases very easily therefore looking very rumpled after first use. Very disappointed as I've searched for a new duvet cover for a while and I loved this design and colour of this one." Dunelm promotes the bedding set with an inviting description: "Embrace the timeless elegance of this floral duvet set, delicately rendered in soothing tones for a natural touch. "Made from breathable cotton, it offers both comfort and durability. Complete your bedroom ambiance with coordinating products, creating a tranquil sanctuary with classic charm."
