Ayo Edebiri and Julia Roberts Face Off in Tense 'After The Hunt' Trailer
The film follows a college professor (Julia Roberts) who gets caught in the middle of a campus scandal after her student (Ayo Edebiri) accuses one of her colleagues (Andrew Garfield) of 'crossing the line.'
Per IndieWire, on an episode of the podcast WTF with Marc Maron, Guadagnino shared that After The Hunt is one of his 'very rare' films that isn't about 'sexuality or love.'
'It's a very timely movie for where we are now,' he said, 'in terms of the society and the division in society and the extreme positions that we can have vis-a-vis an opinion in a way. It's about what happens in the milieu of academia between younger and older people and the idea of consent. I can tell you that it's very loaded. I can tell you that the movie is very provocative, but not in a stupid way, but I would say in a very articulate way.'
He also added that this is Roberts's 'best performance' of her career.
In another interview, Guadagnino also spoke about how much he enjoyed working with Edebiri. 'Ayo is a movie star in the real sense of bigness, and cinema, and excitement,' he told W. 'She has a commitment toward performance that you rarely find now. She absolutely commands your gaze. She's funny and she's extremely beautiful—and that is a very rare combination.'
In addition to Roberts, Edebiri, and Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloë Sevigny round out the cast.
In an interview with Deadline at this year's CinemaCon, Garfield revealed what it was like to work with Guadagnino for the first time. 'What was exciting and surprising about being with Luca on set was how loose he is, how relaxed he is, how spontaneous, in the moment, and totally focused [he is] when he needs to be,' he said. 'He seems to be allowing the day, the scene, and the moment to be found. And he's such a precise filmmaker, simultaneously.'
Edebiri echoed those sentiments. She said that filming with Guadagnino was a 'mix of complete openness and specificity of vision.' She continued, 'As an actor that fosters you to come up with so many things and understandings of your character.'
Yes! On July 16, Amazon MGM Studios released the official trailer.
The film will be released in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on October 10 and will open nationwide on October 17.

Paramount's (PARAA) (PARA) CBS plans to end 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' in May 2026 and retiring 'The Late Show' in its entirety. In a taped segment of tonight's episode posted on Instagram, Colbert himself said he was 'grateful' to CBS for the opportunity and he is 'not being replaced, this is all just going away.' In a statement provided to Deadline, CBS said the move was 'purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night' and 'is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.' Odyssey fans baffled by resale movie tickets going for $400 a year before film's highly anticipated release
IMAX tickets for Christopher Nolan's next epic, The Odyssey, are already being resold for upwards of $500, after selling out within hours of their release. Advanced tickets for the Oscar-winning director's forthcoming movie, starring Matt Damon, Zendaya, and Tom Holland, went on sale at midnight Thursday — an entire year before its July 17, 2026, debut. Premiere screenings are taking place across the globe next year — in select U.S. and Canadian cities, as well as London, Melbourne, and Prague — at theaters equipped with IMAX 70mm screens. Some lucky fans on Reddit managed to snag single tickets for around $32, plus fees. However, by Thursday afternoon, scalpers were already listing them on sites like eBay for much more. 'The Odyssey 70mm IMAX tickers are already going for $500 buy now on eBay I hope you're proud of yourselves IMAX rollout team,' one irritated fan wrote on X. Matt Damon leads 'The Odyssey' as the Greek hero Odysseus (Universal) A quick search of eBay did, in fact, reveal a listing for two reserved seats to a July 19, 2026 showing. The seller has the two tickets listed for $399. 'The Odyssey tickets have already hit eBay. Good grief!' a second noted, while a third found it 'insane that [tickets] are already being sold for double what it is retail price.' A fan has already posted two tickets to a July 2026 viewing of 'The Odyssey' on eBay for $399 (eBay) 'Someone is trying to resell 2x BFI IMAX 70mm tickets for The Odyssey for £94 Great British Pounds! These tickets are for second row seats right against the wall… THE AUDACITY,' a fourth added. 'That resale pic of Odyssey tickets can't be real. Who the hell is reselling movie tickets lmfaoooo,' another laughed. The Odyssey 70mm IMAX tickers are already going for $500 buy now on eBay I hope you're proud of yourselves IMAX rollout team — Marco Andre (@mrmarcoandre) July 17, 2025 The Independent has contacted IMAX for comment. The decision to sell tickets this early seems to be strategic, despite being unprecedented. After the success of Nolan's previous Oscar-winning feature Oppenheimer, which grossed $975.8 million globally and made over $190 million of its revenue from IMAX screenings alone, it can be assumed that studios and theaters would prefer to lean further into that demand. Earlier this year, it was reported that The Odyssey is being shot entirely on IMAX cameras, the first commercial feature film to do so. The new IMAX cameras, which are reportedly lighter and 30 percent quieter, eliminate the usual problems that come with traditional film and digital cameras, like scanning and processing of the film stock. They also allow the director to easily watch dailies while filming. The Odyssey, which is still filming, is an adaptation of Homer's epic Greek poem. The story follows Odysseus (Matt Damon), king of Ithaca, as he journeys home after the Trojan War. However, his expedition proves perilous as he has to battle numerous threats and mythological creatures. Holland has been cast as Odysseus's son Telemachus, while Charlize Theron has been cast as the goddess Circe. Zendaya's role has yet to be announced, and the characters played by Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, and Anne Hathaway also remain unknown. Other recent casting announcements include Mia Goth, Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo, Benny Safdie, and Elliot Page. The Odyssey will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026.

Daisy Ridley's husband Tom Bateman cast as lead in 'The Love Hypothesis' adaptation
Tom Bateman's new gig is a coincidence of galactic proportions. Bateman, who is married to "Star Wars" actress Daisy Ridley, has been cast in the upcoming film "The Love Hypothesis," Amazon MGM Studios announced on social media July 17. The movie serves as an adaptation of the New York Times bestselling romance novel — and former "Star Wars" fanfiction — by Ali Hazelwood. "Hypothesis: Tom Bateman is the perfect Adam Carlsen," Amazon MGM Studios wrote alongside the casting announcement. Bateman is set to play Adam Carlsen, a professor who finds himself in a whirlwind fake relationship with PhD candidate Olive Smith (Lili Reinhart) as Smith tries to convince her friend that her love life is going well. Eagle-eyed "Star Wars" fans will be quick to clock the irony of Bateman's involvement in the film, as Ridley's "Star Wars" character Rey (introduced in 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens") was a chief inspiration for the early stages of "The Love Hypothesis" novel. Bateman and Ridley met in 2017 while filming the crime drama remake "Murder on the Orient Express." What is the connection between 'The Love Hypothesis' and 'Star Wars'? Hazelwood's first incarnation of "The Love Hypothesis," titled "Head Over Feet," was published online in 2018 as a "Star Wars" fanfiction that centered on the relationship between Ridley's character Rey and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), which has been given the nickname "Reylo." In the original "Star Wars" universe, Rey and Kylo are enemies who later discover they share a powerful connection called a "force dyad," which inspires Kylo to come to Rey's aid in battle in the 2019 film "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker." Hazelwood was discovered by her literary agent thanks to self-publishing the fanfiction on the content-sharing platform Archive of Our Own, aka A03, the author told Collider in a 2021 interview. "Head Over Feet" was subsequently reworked into a non-"Star Wars" story, although Adam Carlsen's name is a nod to Driver and his portrayal of Kylo. "Traditional publishing is getting more and more interested in fanfiction and in embracing it," Hazelwood told the outlet. "And maybe they're doing well because of money and marketing and stuff like that, but I'm just really happy that this is happening and that fanfiction is gaining legitimacy because it always had legitimacy."
