Nothing also got overly ambitious with the pricing – the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and non-LTPO display on an $800/£800/€800/₹80,000 phone attracted a lot of criticism in the comments. And those aren't the only non-flagship features either. Plus, the small 5,150mAh battery feels like a waste of Si/C tech.
It's not so bad in the US market where there are relatively few competing brands, but in Europe and especially in Asia, the Phone (3) is going to be a tough sell with these specs at this price. The price will fall, eventually, but the same goes for alternative models.
While Nothing is a fairly new brand, Carl Pei is a veteran of the industry and was at OnePlus as the company navigated the change from cheap 'flagship killer' to more expensive (but still competitively priced) flagships. vivo X Fold5 in for review
Ivan, 13 July 2025 This is the vivo X Fold5 and it's coming to a few global markets! The phone is the successor to the vivo X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro. There is not going to be an X Fold4, and it's likely that this X Fold5 will be the vanilla and Pro in one. The vivo X Fold5 ships with a USB-A to USB-C cable, a 90W charger, and a case. Vivo pushed the envelope with the design of the X Fold5. It's thinner than its predecessor - 9.2mm vs 11.2mm when folded, 4.3mm vs 5.2mm when open. That's a big difference. The new phone is also lighter at 224 grams compared to the old phone's 236 grams. The X Fold5 is now dust protected with an IP rating of IP58/IP59+. It's not completely dust-tight, that would mean a rating of IP68, but it's better than its predecessor, which had no official dust protection. The vivo X Fold5 Both the cover screen and the inner one have almost identical specs - 6.53-inch and 8.03-inch, respectively, both LTPO 120Hz 10-bit panels, but the cover screen has a higher theoretical peak brightness at 5,500 nits. Camera-wise, the vivo X Fold5 is a bit of a side-step to its predecessor. The main camera is a 50MP unit with a brighter f/1.6 lens, but has a smaller 1/1.56-inch sensor (vs 1/1.3-inch). The ultrawide angle has the same-sized sensor but a different 15mm f/2.1 lens; it still has phase detect autofocus. The zoom camera has a similar sensor to its predecessor (50MP 1/1.95-inch vs 64MP 1/2.0-inch), but a zoomier 85mm f/2.6 lens (vs 70mm f/2.6). Vivo also increased the battery by 5%, it's now a 6,000mAh unit. There's also a new custom button in the top right of the phone, which toggles between Vibration and Ring mode, and can flick on the flash - nice! New Huawei MatePad 11.5 (2025) brings better PaperMatte tech, bigger battery
Peter, 11 July 2025 Amidst all the excitement over the Pura 80 global launch, Huawei also revealed a refreshed version of the MatePad 11.5 from 2023. The new model has a sharper display with improved PaperMatte tech, a bigger battery with faster charging and more. The 11.5' IPS LCD now has 2,450 x 1,600px resolution (256ppi, 3:2 aspect ratio), up from 2,200 x 1,200px. It runs at up to 120Hz refresh rate and 600 nits brightness (with DC dimming). The optional PaperMatte technology uses nano-etching to reduce reflections by 60% and light interference by 99%. A new circular polarization filter further improves visibility and viewing comfort and even works with sunglasses. With support for 3rd generation M-Pencil, the tablet can use AI to neaten up your handwriting, organize your handwritten notes and highlight the key points or just let you sketch, with or without AI's help. Apple insider says to expect iPhone 17 unveiling to take place during this particular week
Whether you're using an iPhone 6s Plus, an iPhone XS, an iPhone 12 Pro, or even an iPhone 16 Pro Max, you are probably looking forward to seeing what the iPhone 17 series has to offer. Yes, some of you like to hold on to your iPhone for as long as you can, and some of you, with the financial means to do so, will upgrade every year. The upcoming new iPhone series is expected to consist of the iPhone 17 , iPhone 17 Air (or whatever name Apple gives to its ultra-thin model), the iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, writing in his weekly Power On newsletter, says that he expects Apple to hold the 2025 iPhone event during the week of September 8th. He also notes that Apple typically prefers Tuesdays while avoiding Fridays. While Monday, the 8th of September, is a possibility, Gurman believes that Tuesday, the 9th, or Wednesday, the 10th, is "more likely." Friday is out, as Gurman pointed out, and Apple tends to honor the memory of September 11th by not announcing new iPhones on that date. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be powered by the A19 Pro AP. Both chipsets will be manufactured by TSMC using its third-generation 3nm process node (N3P). While the iPhone 17 base model will supposedly be equipped with 8GB of RAM (just enough to support Apple Intelligence), the other three iPhones are rumored to come with 12GB of RAM. The increased amount of RAM on the ultra-thin iPhone, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max should lead to improved multitasking, faster switching between apps, and the ability to keep more apps open in the background before the phone's performance is impacted. The iPhone 17 will feature a 6.3-inch display, up from the 6.1-inch screen on the iPhone 16. The iPhone 17 Air will reportedly sport a 6.7-inch screen, the iPhone 17 Pro will match the 6.3-inch display of the iPhone 17 , and the iPhone 17 Pro Max will carry a 6.9-inch screen. The rear camera array on the iPhone 17 is believed to include a 48 MP Wide camera, a 12 MP Ultra-wide camera, and a 24 MP front-facing camera. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to launch with a single 48 MP Wide camera on the back. It will be the same Wide camera used by the iPhone 16 model. The thinner body leaves less room inside the device for multiple rear cameras, and the front-facing camera will weigh in at 24 MP. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models could feature a trio of 48 MP sensors backing the Wide, Ultra-wide, and Telephoto cameras. The phones will also feature a 24 MP front-facing camera. We've seen several renders showing off new rear camera modules for the upcoming new iPhone line. At this point, it would be more surprising if Apple keeps the same square design for the camera module, found in the upper left corner of the rear panel, used since the iPhone 11 series. A recent rumor has the iPhone 17 Pro Max , for the first time in iPhone history, equipped with a 5000 mAh battery. Previous speculation said to expect the iPhone 17 to come with a battery close to 3600 mAh, and 3700 mAh for the iPhone 17 Pro. The iPhone 17 Air , limited by its internal space, will reportedly feature a small 2800 mAh battery capacity.
