ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) is hosting the 4th World Utilities Congress in Abu Dhabi from May 27-29, 2025 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.This year's congress is being held under the theme Innovating for a New Age of Utilities. The event is organised by dmg Events, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI), Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE), Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (ADNEC). The congress is a platform for global utilities sector leaders, policymakers and innovators to address key challenges in the power and water sectors. As the industry advances towards integrating renewable energy sources, enhancing grid resilience and optimising water management, the event will drive high-level discussions, showcase cutting-edge solutions and facilitate strategic collaborations.His Excellency Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, underscored the significance of the World Utilities Congress 2025, which presents a valuable platform for global experts to come together and share insights and expertise on the cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions addressing sustainability challenges in the electricity and water sectors, in line with the Ministry's commitment to supporting the UAE's net-zero by 2050 target.His Excellency added: 'At the congress, we aim to highlight the significant strides we've made while engaging with industry leaders to exchange ideas and foster long-term resource sustainability. 17 Aug 2025 13:45 DUBAI (WAM)Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, the Supreme Committee for the Development of Hatta has launched 14 new investment and commercial opportunities at the Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls opportunities, offered through Dubai Municipality, aim to empower local citizens, creating job opportunities and supporting sustainable economic and social development in the retail spaces at the Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls will be allocated to Emiratis residing in Hatta, free of charge, for a one-year period — providing a springboard for small businesses and productive families to grow within one of the UAE's most scenic and culturally rich initiative supports the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the Hatta Development Master Plan, and the objectives of the Supreme Committee for the Development of Hatta by creating investment opportunities for citizens. 17 Aug 2025 13:12 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) has hosted its 2025 summer camp, themed Bridging Generations: Honoring the Past, Innovating the Future, at the ECAE FabLab in Abu by the college's Continuing Education Centre and aligned with the UAE's Year of Community initiative, the camp offered students aged 12-17 a unique hands-on experience that blended traditional Emirati crafts with cutting-edge digital fabrication two weeks, participants engaged in a variety of interactive activities that deepened their understanding of the nation's rich cultural heritage while equipping them with practical skills for the camp ran in two cohorts; the first from July 14-25, and the second from July 28 to August 8, ensuring flexibility for families and wider had the opportunity to work with advanced tools such as laser cutters, computer-aided design (CAD) software, and artificial intelligence applications, learning how to transform heritage patterns into innovative modern the programme, students collaborated in small teams, engaging in group projects that encouraged creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. 17 Aug 2025 11:33 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in Abu Dhabi witnessed a significant increase in visitor numbers during the first half of 2025, welcoming a total of 4,346,831 guests, marking a 5 percent growth compared to the same period in 2024, and reaffirming the mosque's position as a leading religious and cultural destination on the global guest count included 1,948,482 worshippers and fasting guests, 2,355,165 visitors from various nationalities, and 43,184 users of the mosque's jogging mosque hosted 127,672 worshippers during Friday prayers, 346,671 during daily prayers, and 575,372 during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid the mosque recorded its highest number of worshippers on the 27th night of Ramadan (25 March 2025), with 72,710 worshippers, including 11,483 for Taraweeh prayers and 61,050 for Tahajjud prayers, in an atmosphere of serenity and spiritual part of the Our Fasting Guests initiative, the centre collaborated with the Erth Zayed Philanthropies and its strategic partner Erth Hotel to distribute Iftar and Suhoor meals. This reflects the mosque's growing prominence as a global cultural tourism terms of regional distribution, Asia accounted for 49 percent of visitors, followed by Europe with 35 percent, North America with 10 percent, Africa with 3 percent, South America with 2 percent, and Australia with 1 top visiting countries were India (20 percent), China (9 percent), Russia (8 percent), USA (7 percent), Germany (4 percent), followed by France, UK, Italy, Philippines, and Poland, each contributing 3 percent of the total centre's cultural tour specialists conducted 2,363 cultural tours, introducing guests to the mosque's message of peace, tolerance, and cross-cultural centre also received 826 official delegation bookings, including 196 high-level delegations.
