‘Blue Bloods' Spinoff ‘Boston Blue' Casts ‘Psych' Star Maggie Lawson
Maggie Lawson has been cast as a series regular in 'Boston Blue,' CBS' upcoming spinoff of 'Blue Bloods.'
She will play Boston Police Department superintendent Sarah Silver, who is described as 'well aware of the tightrope she can walk sometimes between her job and her family.'

'Boston Blue' stars Donnie Wahlberg in a reprisal of his 'Blue Bloods' role, officer Danny Reagan. The series follows Danny after he takes a role with Boston PD, where he is partnered with detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.
This won't be Lawson's first time playing a cop: she is best known for starring as Juliet O'Hara in 'Psych,' which ran on the USA network for eight seasons from 2006 to 2014, as well 'Psych: The Movie' (2017), 'Psych 2: Lassie Come Home' (2020) and 'Psych 3: This Is Gus (2021).' In 2024, she starred in the Hallmark Christmas movie 'Sugarplummed,' and also recently reunited with 'Psych' star Corbin Bernsen in an indie comedy pilot called 'Woodstockers.' Her other credits include a lead role in the 2020 Fox sitcom 'Outmatched' and recurring roles in Seasons 2 and 3 of Netflix's 'The Santa Clarita Diet,' Season 3 of Fox's 'Lethal Weapon,' Seasons 2 and 3 of Netflix's 'The Ranch' and Season 12 of CBS' 'Two and a Half Men.'
Lawson is repped by Gersh and Principal Entertainment.
'Boston Blue' is executive produced by showrunners Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis as well as Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed and Wahlberg. CBS Studios produces the series in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television, and the series will be distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Harvey Weinstein gave a rare interview to New York's local Fox station on Friday as his retrial for charges of first-degree sexual assault and third-degree rape nears its end. 'I regret [that] I put my family through this, that I put my wife through this, that I acted immorally, that I put so many friends through this,' he said. 'I hurt people that were close to me by actions that were stupid but never illegal, never criminal, never anything.' The former producer also said that his attorney, Arthur Aidala, advised him not to take the stand in his own defense during the trial. 'I desperately wanted to,' he said. 'Arthur said to me that the jury … understood our case and would be sympathetic to our case, and that the D.A. would try to rip me apart if I took the stand. I'm not afraid of the D.A., but this is the best advice, and this is the advice you often hear: Don't take the stand if you don't have to.' The New York Court of Appeals overturned Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction last year. He had previously been found guilty of a felony sex crime and third-degree rape, two out of five charges he faced at the time. But the appeals court decided that prosecutors should not have been allowed to present testimony from accusers whose allegations did not specifically relate to the charges against him. The retrial, which began in April, focused on the claims of three women, two of whom were part of the 2020 case. Weinstein pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor and Weinstein's legal team presented their closing arguments this week. Jury deliberations began Thursday. When asked what he thought of the women who'd levied accusations against him in this trial, Weinstein told Fox, 'I think Arthur says they have four million reasons to testify, as in dollars.' Weinstein was sentenced to 16 years in prison for a separate sexual assault conviction in Los Angeles. Paramount controlling shareholder Shari Redstone diagnosed with thyroid cancer
Media mogul Shari Redstone, CBS parent Paramount's controlling shareholder, has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. "Shari Redstone was diagnosed with thyroid cancer earlier this spring. While it has been a challenging period, she is maintaining all professional and philanthropic activities throughout her treatment, which is ongoing. She and her family are grateful that her prognosis is excellent," Redstone's spokesperson told Fox News Digital. The 71-year-old has frequently been in the news this year as she seeks the Trump administration's approval of a multibillion-dollar planned merger with Skydance Media and has given lawyers the green light to settle President Donald Trump's election interference lawsuit against CBS News, although no deal has been reached. Redstone wanted the opinion of doctors "about two months ago after experiencing fatigue and other symptoms," according to The New York Times, which first reported the diagnosis. She underwent surgery in May. The Times noted that she was quickly diagnosed and surgeons removed her thyroid gland but were unable to remove all the cancer cells because they'd spread to her vocal cords. Redstone controls more than three-quarters of Paramount's Class A voting shares through National Amusements, the company she took control of in 2016 when her media mogul father, Sumner Redstone, was deemed too incapacitated to run the company. He died in 2020. Redstone, who recused herself from settlement discussions related to the Trump lawsuit in February, isn't thrilled with being tied up in litigation with the sitting president and wants to get things resolved. Fox News Digital confirmed last week that Trump rejected a $15 million offer to settle his lawsuit. The talks are ongoing, but the president's legal team is demanding at least $25 million and an apology from CBS News. Many industry insiders believe the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will wait until the lawsuit is in the rearview mirror before deciding if the planned merger with Skydance Media will be approved. Redstone is set for a significant windfall if she's able to flip Paramount to Skydance. Bloomberg reported last year that she would receive $180 million in severance on top of the roughly $350 million she would pocket from the merger. Skydance Media CEO David Ellison, who would take control of CBS as head of the newly formed Paramount Skydance Corp. if the merger is finalized, was aware of Redstone's cancer diagnosis, according to the Times.
