2 Indianapolis Colts players make 'best NFL team money can buy'

Tanor Bortolini provided center depth--and an option at guard as well--while Zaire Franklin was a part of Blair's linebacker unit. Neither Bortolini nor Franklin was a starter on this team.
As noted by Blair in the article, Bortolini comes with a cap hit of $3.66 million this season, and Franklin $4.38 million.
Bortolini is still relatively inexperienced with eight NFL appearances and six starts, but he performed well when called upon during his rookie season. He would rank 15th in PFF's pass-blocking efficiency metric and was 22nd out of 40 centers in run-blocking grade.
"I saw a young player that got better each time he went out there," offensive line coach Tony Sparano Jr. said. "The game wasn't too big for him. Athletically, he has a ton to offer in terms of what he's able to do on the move, in terms of how he's able to mirror people in pass protection."
Franklin, meanwhile, made his first Pro Bowl in 2024 and was named a second-team All-Pro after leading the NFL in tackles. He also set a career high with 15 quarterback pressures, four sacks, and two interceptions.
Also of note when discussing Franklin's spot on Blair's roster is that he has ample special teams experience, which is an important aspect of playing linebacker in the NFL, particularly for those who are backups.

Jets' Justin Fields says his focus on his faith the past 6 months has helped him shake off criticism
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Justin Fields heard all the criticisms — and occasional kudos — that came his way from fans and media during his first four NFL seasons. The New York Jets quarterback would let it affect him, too. It would even shape his own opinions about his play and abilities. No more. 'I just let people be and let them speak,' Fields said after a joint practice with the Giants on Tuesday. 'That's not going to affect me whatsoever.' But it used to, he acknowledged. 'I would say I just kind of got like this the past six months, to be honest with you,' Fields said. It was a somewhat surprising revelation from Fields, given the ups and downs he has had during his NFL journey since being the 11th overall pick by Chicago out of Ohio State in 2021. He went from the hopeful franchise quarterback of the Bears to out the door after only three seasons, traded to Pittsburgh last year. He started for an injured Russell Wilson and went 4-2 in six games for the Steelers before seeing the bench again in favor of the veteran — who's also now in New York, but with the Giants. During this past offseason, Fields signed a two-year, $40 million deal with the Jets — who immediately labeled him their new starter. Coach Aaron Glenn has regularly praised Fields' confidence and maturity, calling him 'a mature man' Tuesday and adding that 'the outside noise does not bother him.' That, however, has been a process. 'A lot's gone into that, to be honest,' Fields said. "I would say experiences, for sure. But also, I think my relationship with God. I don't play for anybody's approval. You guys are all going to have your opinion and I'm never going to take any of it personal. Like I said, it doesn't matter. Y'all can have an opinion, y'all could say this and that, but at the end of the day, our lives aren't going to change. 'If I say something to y'all right now, the same thing's going to happen. It doesn't really affect life, it doesn't affect the way we live. It has zero meaning to me, to anybody, and God controls everything that happens in this world.' While the 26-year-old Fields didn't detail the events that triggered his religious re-awakening, he acknowledged that the Bible has been even more impactful than any playbook. 'Yeah, I mean, me really getting closer to God, like I said, my relationship, me reading the Bible every day,' he said. "And if I'm being real, there are some great lines and great wisdom that I didn't even know of. Former Longhorns WR makes NFL debut with Vikings
Over the weekend, many former Longhorns reached career milestones as the NFL preseason began. A lot of attention was focused on Matthew Golden and Quinn Ewers, but they were not the only ones to make their debuts. Former Longhorns wide receiver Silas Bolden also got some action for the Vikings, playing various roles. Against the Texans, the California native saw snaps on special teams and offense. He returned one punt for eight yards and hauled in one catch for three yards. The former Longhorn also dropped one catch as 21 Vikings players saw at least one target. While Bolden was hoping to make a better first impression, he showed his value. During his college career, Bolden carved out a role due to his speed. In his only season in the burnt orange, he recorded 267 receiving yards on 23 receptions. As the Longhorns' punt returner, he made an impact with speed, with 315 yards on 30 returns. He also found the end zone once and made the most of his snaps. While he went undrafted, the Vikings made adding Bolden a priority. If used in the right situation, he could be a weapon as he continues to improve. The Vikings are hoping that happens while he is in their system, which has produced a few notable wide receivers. Since Bolden is not a lock to make the roster, he will be a player to watch over the next few weeks. The Vikings are also stacked at wide receiver with the electric duo of Jordan Allison and Justin Jefferson. While the Rancho Cucamonga High School product will have to battle for targets, he does have a path to the roster through special teams. This weekend, Bolden will get to make his case for a roster spot when the Vikings take on the New England Patriots.
