Ofcom says these mobile networks offer the best service – we compared the prices
Ofcom's annual report into customer service reveals the networks that offer the most satisfaction – and it's not who you think The mobile phone has become part of daily life, but sitting with your existing supplier and putting up with the pain doesn't have to be part of the deal. Ofcom has just released the results of its satisfaction survey, revealing the best mobile networks for shoppers who want a smooth experience. Published annually, the report examines overall service, perception of signal strength, how satisfied customers are with value for money, as well as how often complaints pop up and how will they are handled. None of the major networks top the charts, suggesting they all have work to do to satisfy customers. According to Ofcom, GiffGaff and Tesco Mobile offer the highest level of satisfaction of all the suppliers tested. These two beat Vodafone, EE, O2 and Three, despite both running on the O2 network. A big part of the equation is the perception of value for money. Here, Tesco Mobile tops the charts thanks to its competitive prices, while GiffGaff comes just behind. Tesco Mobile offers a 30GB SIM-only tariff for £12.99 a month (or £10.50 with a Clubcard); GiffGaff will give you 50GB of data for £12 a month SIM only. Perception of value is where Vodafone and O2 struggle, regardless of whether they are actually good value for money or not. Vodafone's 30GB Red plan is £19 a month (and that's currently discounted), while O2 is offering 50GB data for £15 a month, so it's easy to see why GiffGaff and Tesco Mobile networks feel cheaper – because they are. However, customers on O2 expressed that they weren't happy with the signal strength, while both GiffGaff and Tesco Mobile customers were satisfied, despite all these suppliers running on the same 5G network. That might suggest that savvy shoppers choosing GiffGaff or Tesco Mobile have lower demands, or that O2 customers expect more, because it's a larger network. If you are interested in an O2 plan, then you can shop the network's deals here. Of the big networks, the Ofcom report highlights that Three customers aren't happy with how complaints are handled, highlighting that Three might want to look at its customer service provision, while O2 is highlighted as having the longest waiting time to have a call answered by the supplier. The results are clear, while most customers are satisfied with their mobile phone network overall, those with Tesco Mobile and GiffGaff have more to be happy about, being the most satisfied shoppers overall. Is it time you switched? If you've been on your current tariff for a long time, then you could save money and get a better experience if you switch networks. While some of the larger networks offer more bundles and incentives, like a discounted Disney+ subscription for example, cash remains king and taking the data you need at the price that's right is still the smart thing to do. Switching networks is incredibly easy, especially if you're keeping your handset and just getting a new SIM. As long as you're out of your current contract, you can move supplier quickly and easily. All you have to do is text PAC to 65075, and you'll receive a switching code. You then give the PAC code to your new supplier and the switch should be completed within one day. It's that simple – so if you're still spending money on a bad experience then shop around and switch.

'If he was sub par four weeks ago, why not change then?'
We asked you what you thought about Middlesbrough's decision to sack boss Michael Carrick and it's fair to say there are some mixed feelings out what you had to say:Tony: I think Carrick took us as far as he could. Started last season brilliantly, full out attack but it soon dropped off and became a boring possession team playing around our own box with no idea, then had no plan B and we were punished far too often. Would like to see Steve Cooper take over, he's a proven Championship I think seeing Carrick is one of the better midfielders of his generation, he should have been given one more chance. His ball-playing ability and vision as a player clearly translated as a manager and results on the pitch improved Yes it was time to go. The football was too laboured and he was too slow in adapting to the opposition's changes which cost really did end up a chore watching his tippy-tappy football and lots of fans like myself lost lost 24 points from winning positions last a great bloke but had taken the club as far as he could as he was too stubborn to change Sacking Carrick was not a good move. Like building a team you also build your managers/management rather than leave them to get on with things. Carrick has a lot more to offer and he will not be replaced by anyone Shame it never worked out for Carrick but with no plan B we were sussed out by other teams. This club deserves to be in the top flight but it's been refreshing to see attacking football in the Championship rather than defensive grind in the Premier League. Sometimes grinding out wins is necessary in the Championship though, a la Bristol City, Coventry, Millwall etc. The season crumbled when Doak got injured but we shouldn't rely on a teenager on loan, and again selling our best players (ELL) was a big mistake. Hopefully no more talent will be allowed to leave again. Would like to see Mogga given another chance for his home Understand the frustration with his in-game management and inexperience, but the question is who can we get next that's a step up? Carrick's style was entertaining, even when we weren't getting results. I can't go back to watching the sort of football we had under Wilder or I think it was the right call to sack Carrick. He was determined to play a certain way, which is admirable, but he should have changed the team formation when the game needed it. He could have shown a bit more passion on the Although the season was disappointing I feel the stewardship under Carrick has mostly been positive. I feel like the instability caused by changing the management team again when a promotion push next year is not beyond Middlesbrough could end up being short-sighted. The Championship is such a competitive league it does not take much to be towards the top or the bottom of the table. Will be happy to be proven wrong though!Jack: It was definitely an announcement that no one was expecting but a lot of fans were certainly losing patience. It is probably the right time as well before pre-season and a transfer The decision to sack Carrick is a mistake. The major problem this season was the injury list. So many key players out for long periods. Plus the sale of Latte Lathe. A new manager will be starting from scratch, whereas Carrick would just have needed a couple of new signings. Bringing back Doak will be The new season is in eight weeks and transfer activity underway. Carrick's replacement has not been immediately announced. How long is the new manager going to get to prepare for 2025-26, especially if a clear out is required? If last season was sub par four weeks ago, why not make a change then?Listen to more reaction on BBC Sounds.

Sky Mobile's unlimited data deal cuts £108 off price and is cheaper than O2 and Vodafone
Sky Mobile has cut the price of its unlimited data plan, offering unlimited data for £20 a month, that's cheaper than O2 and Vodafone right now Sky Mobile has launched a surprise sale, slashing the price tags on various device tariffs, with its SIM-only plans among the top bargains. The move sees Sky joining the ranks of O2 and Vodafone, both of whom are currently running sales, heralding an opportune moment for consumers mulling over a new SIM. Data-hungry users may find Sky Mobile's unlimited data offer particularly tempting, as it beats both O2 and Vodafone in the cost-effectiveness stakes amid the ongoing sale. Marked down by £9 monthly, Sky offers unlimited data at £20 per month. A discount from the regular price of £29 a month, it's a £108 saving across the first year of the 24-month contract term. This edges out the competition with O2 priced at £22 and Vodafone at £24 monthly for similar plans. Sky imposes no limit to data usage, customers can surf and stream to their heart's content. Coupled with 5G capabilities – courtesy of O2's network infrastructure – Sky presents a compelling choice for heavy data consumers. Shop the Sky Mobile Unlimited Data deal - here The package is sweetened with European roaming options (though travellers should verify country coverage) and includes limitless calling and messaging services. While Sky Mobile consistently garners praise for excellent value, consumers would do well to weigh up the myriad benefits of alternative providers. Usually vigilant checks on network coverage are advisable, but given Sky Mobile's shared network with O2, connectivity issues with one will invariably affect the other. Vodafone might be your best bet in this case. Their Unlimited Plus package is slightly pricier (it'll set you back an extra £48 in the first year) and boasts a top speed of 100Mbps - shop the deal here. Currently discounted, Vodafone Unlimited Plus is now just £24 per month, down from £33, saving shoppers £108 over the first year, in line with Sky's offer. O2 is also having a sale, with discounts on unlimited data. The O2 Unlimited plan is available for £22 per month in an online-only deal. While this tariff doesn't include all the Extras that come with some of the pricier plans, it does offer unlimited data at a fantastic price. These summer sales won't last forever, with O2's sale wrapping up on 4 June, and Sky Mobile nearing the end of its Week of Treats. It's worth noting that these are SIM-only deals, so shoppers need to purchase the phone separately. This comes with a benefit, as it allows you to change your phone as often as you wish and gives you the freedom to hunt for the best deals, buy refurbished devices or get your hands on the latest phones as soon as they hit the market.
