Orlando Pirates tried to lure Fadlu Davids back to the club, but were turned down by the Simba SC head coach.
According to a source, Pirates submitted an enticing offer to Davids, but he rejected it.

'Yes, it's true that Pirates wanted Davids back. It was not only Pirates, Raja (Casablanca) also wanted him, but he wanted to remain with Simba. He says he still has some unfinished business with Simba. He has done well at Simba and the fans love him so he wants to stay at the club,' a source told the Mgosi Squad.
Davids is on the verge of making history by winning the CAF Confederation Cup. His Simba is currently in the final of the competition after beating Stellenbosch FC 1-0 on aggregate in the semifinals.
It is the second time that Davids has reached this stage of this continental competition, having done so with Pirates in 2022 as co-head coach with Mandla Ncikazi. They lost to RS Berkane on penalties.
It seems his good work with Simba has not gone unnoticed as both Pirates and Raja Casablanca have shown interest in him.
Meanwhile, as previously reported Rulani Mokwena is the leading candidate to replace Jose Riveiro as head coach of Pirates.

Orlando Pirates starting XI with potential new signings

Orlando Pirates are expected to spend big during the next transfer period after a disappointing season. The Buccaneers only had the MTN8 to show despite a promising start to the 2024/25 season. Things collapsed towards the end when the team lost the CAF Champions League, the Betway Premiership and the Nedbank Cup. Under Jose Riveiro, Orlando Pirates won five trophies in three season, making them a team to beat in the Premier Soccer League (PSL). With the Spaniard gone, the Sea Robbers have to find a suitable coach who can lift the club. With the new season kicking off in August, the Buccaneers still have plenty of time to bring in new players. The Soweto giants have been linked with several top players in recent weeks but here's how they can lineup with new players: Sipho Chaine (GK) Chaine has been solid in goals and has earned two national caps for Bafana Bafana. The 28-year-old has been the country's second keeper next to Rownen Williams and is expected to feature for Orlando Pirates for many years. Deano van Rooyen (RB) The former Stellenbosch captain has been solid since joining the Buccaneers last year. He has made the right-back position his own. Nkosinathi Sibisi (CB) The former Golden Arrows defender has done well this season and deserves his place in the starting eleven. With experienced players such as Olisah Ndah and Tapelo Xoki still at the club, it remains to be seen what changes will be made. Mbekezeli Mbokazi (CB) The 19-year-old has been exceptional since making his debut for Orlando Pirates earlier this year. Nicknamed 'TLB', Mbokazi is a sure starter going forward. Fawaaz Basadien (LB) With the departures of Paseka Mako and Innocent Maela, the Buccaneers need a quality left-back. Basadien is available and if the Bucs management are willing to pay big money, then Basadien might be in black and white colours next season. Makhehlene Makhaula (DM) The 36-year-old midfielder has been an engine for the team in recent years and will continue once again next season. The club need to find a suitable replacement this coming season in case the midfielder gets injured. Thalente Mbatha (CM) Mbatha has brought energy to the Orlando Pirates midfield and also has an eye for goals. He is not going anywhere anytime soon and should improve his game for sure next season. He has at times been sloppy with his passes but with the right coach, he should fix his game management. Sinoxolo Kwayiba (AM) The Chippa United star has been heavily linked with the Buccaneers in recent weeks. According to some reports, the deal is as good as done. If Kwayiba joins Pirates, then the likes of Patrick Maswanganyi might be forced to improve their game. Relebohile Mofokeng (RW) Mofokeng is under the radar of many teams abroad but it seems no big offer has been made for the Bafana Bafana star. He might stay for another season and if that happens, expect him to be sharper and more clinical. Mohau Nkota (LW) Having earned a Bafana Bafana cap, the 20-year-old winger is one of the players to watch next season for Orlando Pirates. Since his debut last year, Nkota has impressed and can only improve from here. Tshegofatso Mabasa (FW) Mabasa is the best Orlando Pirates striker at the moment, despite Evidence Makgopa being the lead striker. He should be allowed to start matches and given Nkota and Mofokeng's creativity, he should replicate his 2023/24 form. Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates to lose out on 15-goal striker?

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates could lose out on top striker and Botswana Premier League top goalscorer Jean Lwamba. The DR Congo international finished as joint-top scorer with 15 goals last season and has been under the radar of many teams across the continent. Lwamba, who plays for Botswana outfit Tafic FC, helped his side finish second behind Gaborone United in the Botswana Premier League last season. Tafic FC chairman Tumelo Toteng has revealed that several teams have shown interest in his star. 'There is a lot of interest. A few teams have shown interest, and we are currently engaged in negotiations with three PSL clubs,' he told 'Additionally, two teams from Morocco have expressed their interest in the player. 'We expect to finalise everything by this Friday (20 June).' 'We have agreed on confidentiality until the terms have been finalised. Toteng did not reveal if Chiefs or Pirates made an offer for his striker but mentioned that Lwamba could move to South Africa, North Africa or even Europe. 'Lwamba is ready for the next step, whether that is in South Africa, North Africa, or Europe. He plays as a striker, but he is also comfortable on the wing. 'His main strengths are his ability to retain the ball through strength and skill, linking play effectively, and possessing ruthless aggression in front of goal,' he said. According to KickOff , the Congolese striker told the publication that his desire was to play for Chiefs or Pirates. Orlando Pirates: to unveil these FIVE new signings?

Orlando Pirates have been very busy with player recruitments before the transfer window even opens. Orlando Pirates have reportedly already signed FIVE players. Let's take a look at all the players the Bucs are set to unveil in coming weeks. Tshepo Mashiloane, Kabelo Kgositsile, Sihle Nduli, Nkosikhona Ndaba and Sinoxolo Kwayiba are all set to be unveiled by Pirates ahead of the 2025/26 PSL season. So, Pirates recently completed the deal for Baroka FC right back, Mashiloane. 'We still got to pay Mashiloane until the end of June, but Orlando Pirates have purchased Mashiloane for the coming season, not this season. But if Pirates want Mashiloane earlier there's no problem we've got an agreement with Pirates,' Khurishi Mphahlele told IDiskiTimes . 'We can always make provision for that, but we are going to pay Mashiloane at the end of June because his contract ends at the end of June and the Pirates contract begins on the first of July. From the first of July he is an Orlando Pirates player, until then he's still our player and we pay him,' Meaning he is set to become the FIFTH new Bucs star. Furthermore, he will join Bafana Bafana attacker Kwayiba, midfielder Nduli, Kgositsile and Ndaba as the newest Pirates players. Meanwhile, the Bucs are closing in on yet another player. Bafana Bafana attacker, Tshepang Moremi is close to joining Pirates. Stay tuned to The South African as we reveal all the latest deals coming out of Mayfair, Naturena and Chloorkop – as they are made by Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.
