Hypebeast12-06-2025
Instagram, which turns 15 later this year, kicked off celebrations early today, launching its largest brand campaign yet with a short film starring some of the most impactful creatives currently shaping popular culture.
The first in a series of upcoming films exploring the importance of taking a chance in the pursuit of creativity,ANYWAYfeatures a cast that spans music, fashion and art, includingTyler, the Creator,RosalíaandFred Again..alongside Corteiz'sClint 419,Cole Bennett,Nadia Lee CohenandSlawn.
In the film, a group of young people gather around Tyler as Bronx-born Trinity opens up to him about her struggles with creative expression and seeking validation from others.
Released alongside ablog postby Instagram CEOAdam Mosseri, the campaign is part of the platform's push to encourage creativity and risk-taking among its more than two billion users. In his post, Mosseri writes that the company is 'investing in creativity more this year than ever before' and describes the film's cast as 'powerful voices' that 'remind us that everyone starts somewhere.'He adds that a common theme in the feedback he receives from users is 'the excitement and nervousness that comes with putting something out into the world.'
'People talk about taking risks, leaps of faith and overcoming whatever self-doubt they have,' he writes, adding that he wants 'Instagram to be a place where you can overcome self-doubt, and just make it, share it, do it anyway.'
Among the changes coming to Instagram, Mosseri says the company is looking into allowing users to re-order the posts on their grid and 'exploring a way to let you quietly post to your profile without broadcasting it to everyone's feeds' – an interesting feature that could address the pressures that come with public creative expression.Additionally, it will continue to 'invest heavily' in its most recent app,Edits– a standalone video editing app released in April – with Mosseri promising new 'app-defining features' were on the way.
Along with starring in its global campaign, Rosalía has partnered with Instagram to create a new font for Stories and Reels, inspired by her handwriting. The brand is doubling down when it comes to music in other ways, too, saying it will introduce 'a way to share what you're listening to on Spotify directly in Notes, to easily connect with friends through music.'
WatchANYWAYabove now – and keep an eye out, Instagram says it is 'doing much more with these creatives in the year ahead.'

Virgin River Cast Shakeup: Will One Tree Hill Vet Cause Trouble for Mel and Jack?

Is the honeymoon period already over for newlyweds Mel and Jack on Virgin River? Last we saw the Netflix drama, Mel and Jack had gotten hitched, and then in the final moments of the Season 6 finale, mom-to-be Marley approached Mel and offered up her soon-to-arrive baby! Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told Tudum that 'we've only just begun to see Mel and Jack function as a married couple, which is exciting.' Season 7 will 'explore the honeymoon phase for them as they're building their lives on the farm, which can come with its own obstacles,' he added. More from Virgin River Shocker: Cast Gets Big News Ahead of Season 7 Premiere Now comes news that a handsome addition is making his way to Virgin River, with One Tree Hill vet Austin Nichols joining the cast for Season 7, our sister site TVLine reports. The actor teased his arrival in an Instagram video, sharing, 'Hey guys, I just landed in Virgin– I mean, Vancouver. I'm starting a new job, and I can't wait for you guys to see it.' No details are currently available about Nichols' role or what his presence will mean for the rest of the characters, but what would a TV show be without conflict? (Not very interesting!) As previously announced, Nichols won't be the only new cast member next season: Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries) and Cody Kearsley (Riverdale) have joined the series in recurring roles, Deadline reported. Canning will play Victoria, an ex-cop who now works for the state medical board and comes to Virgin River to investigate Doc's practice. In the process, she 'runs into a friend whom she wouldn't mind catching up with…or maybe more.' Kearsley will portray Clay, who's looking for his younger sister with whom he grew up in the foster care system. Meanwhile, Mark Ghanime, who played Dr. Cameron Hayek since Season 4, won't be returning to the show full-time. 'I love Mark, who plays Cameron, and I love the character of Cameron,' Smith told TVLine in December 2024. 'He will always be a part of the world, and I would love to see his character back, but he won't be a series regular in Season 7, unfortunately.' Additionally, Smith confirmed to TV Insider that there are 'no plans' to see Lexa Doig's Paige again, with her and Preacher's relationship officially over. Virgin River recently received some big news: a very early renewal for Season 8, ahead of its seventh season, which does not yet have a premiere date. Christie Brinkley Reveals Her Controversial Take on Marriage After 4 Weddings

Brinkley shared her candid thoughts on modern marriage while appearing on Kristin Davis' 'Are You a Charlotte?' podcastNEED TO KNOW Christie Brinkley, 71, says that marrying for life might not be the best option for all modern couples The former model suggested that married people reevaluate if they want to 'renew' their relationship every 'five years' Brinkley, who has been married four times, discussed the topic while appearing on the Are You a Charlotte? podcast with host Kristin DavisChristie Brinkley says she thinks 'until death do us part' might be outdated. The former Sports Illustrated cover girl sat down for the Aug. 7 episode of the Are You a Charlotte? podcast with Sex and the City star Kristin Davis. During the conversation, the topic turned to the concept of marriage, with Davis, 60, specifically wondering if a life-long partnership with another person was potentially 'outmoded' or old-fashioned in modern times. Brinkley, 71, responded with an unconventional suggestion. "You could get married, like, 'We'll see if you want to renew it in five years,' ' Brinkley said. "Every five years, go, 'Do you want to renew?' That way, if you're getting bored or whatever, you can get out of it without all the lawyers and all that stuff.' The Michigan-born model has been wed four times. She was married to French artist Jean-François Allaux from 1975 to 1981, Billy Joel from 1985 to 1994, Richard Taubman from 1994 to 1995 and Peter Cook from 1996 to 2006. She has three children: daughter Alexa, whom she shares with Joel, and son Ray, 30, and daughter Sailor, 27, whom she shares with Cook. While Brinkley may not be sold on the traditional concept of marriage, that doesn't mean she's given up on romance. 'I still believe in love,' she told PEOPLE in April, adding that there might be some "miracle guy out there" for her, but if there isn't, "It's okay." However, the star also admitted that she has had to learn some hard lessons in the relationship department. 'I'm too trusting, I'm a fool for love,' she told The New York Times in July. And as to what she's learned from her four marriages? 'That love takes work,' she told the outlet. 'Sometimes you need to rely on experts. I wish I could have found ways to save some; I wish I hadn't married others." The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! 'The relationships I was in made me feel unloved," she continued, adding that she now knows "that in the right arms, I'm lovable." Brinkley opened up extensively about her love life — and the lessons she's learned from it — in her recent memoir, Uptown Girl. 'Love is something that you have to cherish while you have it and nurture it, but you can't hang onto it and you can't change it or mold it to your desires,' she told PEOPLE at the time while discussing the book. The author — who is single — added that she is "very, very happy and content." Read the original article on People

Bill Maher Blasts ‘Superman' Star Dean Cain for Joining ICE: ‘He Was Already Living in a Van'

HBO comedian Bill Maher has MAGA Superman actor Dean Cain for signing up to be an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent. Cain—known as the star of 1990s TV hit Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman—announced he was joining ICE this week after appearing in a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recruitment video. Maher said on Real Time With Bill Maher Friday that Cain, 59, joined ICE 'not because he's MAGA. He just needs the money.' 'I think he joined because he heard that lots of migrants were coming into this country, and a lot of them were bad actors,' Maher added. 'He said, 'Room for one more?'' Under pressure from the White House to arrest 3,000 undocumented immigrants per day, DHS has stepped up its recruitment efforts. ICE now accepts applicants without a college degree and has done away with its upper age limit (39) and lower age limit (21), which allows teenagers to join. New ICE officers will also receive a signing bonus of $50,000. 'You could put a porch on your house for that,' Maher quipped, noting that, given Trump's anti-immigrant purge, one might struggle 'to find anyone who would build it.' In a recruitment video released earlier this week, Cain touts President Donald Trump's crackdown on immigrants. 'Here's your opportunity to join ICE,' Cain says. 'Since President Trump took office, ICE has arrested hundreds of thousands of criminals, including terrorists, rapists, murderers, pedophiles, MS-13 gang members, drug traffickers, you name it—very dangerous people who are no longer on the streets.' According to data obtained by TRAC, however, seven in 10 migrants detained by ICE have no criminal record as of July 27. Taking aim at Cain's lackluster career, Maher said his decision to join ICE comes at an opportune time. 'It works out—he was already living in a van," Maher said. Comedian Margaret Cho also went after Cain in a video posted on Instagram, noting that Cain is half Japanese. 'Why would you join ICE and encourage people to join ICE when your ancestors were interned in World War II?' Cho said. 'You're not even white… I know you, and you are not white.' The Daily Beast has reached out to Cain's representatives for comment on Maher's remarks.
