The Austrian social media star described what happened to her and a friend when they went to a rooftop party.
"I want to use my platform today to talk about something really important," she told her followers.
"I want to share something serious with you, something that happened to me recently and that every woman needs to hear."
The 32-year-old told her 800,000 Instagram followers how the events of that night unfolded.
"We were there for about three hours, had three glasses of wine and kept our drinks with us the whole time," she said.
"But suddenly, both of us started feeling extremely unwell, out of nowhere."
She revealed that someone had slipped date rape drugs into their drinks, leaving her unable to walk properly.
This happened despite not leaving their drinks unattended.
Vanessa said she also threw up multiple times and lost all memory of the night.
"That's when I knew something was really wrong," she said.
It was a doctor who later established she had been spiked with a date rape drug, Vanessa added.
She revealed that she was robbed after being spiked, with a bracelet snatched off her wrist.
Someone removed the SIM from her phone in an apparent attempt to stop her calling for help, she added.
"I was robbed - my Cartier bracelet was taken off my wrist and my SIM card was removed from my phone."
But she fears her attackers had far worse planned for her.
"I'm convinced the people who did this had far worse intentions.. otherwise, they wouldn't have drugged us or taken steps to stop us from calling for help."
What are the signs of spiking?
The Metropolitan Police lists the following as possible physical symptoms of spiking: confusion
nausea or vomiting
hallucinations and paranoia
disorientation or poor coordination
loss of ability to communicate properly
memory loss
feeling sick or throwing up
lowered inhibitions
loss of balance
unconsciousness
problems with vision
However, the force adds that the symptoms can vary depending on what drug is used for spiking.
The effects "usually" start within 15 minutes of spiking and can last for several hours.
Spiking is a crime, and carries at sentence of up to up to 10 years in prison.
If you think you might have been spiked, seek help immediately and call 999.
Vanessa revealed that nearby friends noticed that something was not right and helped get her home to safety.
"The next day I went immediately to a doctor and also to the hospital to check my whole body and I'm still shocked about what happened," she said.
The horrifying ordeal prompted Vanessa to share her experience, warning women to be on their guard.
"I'm sharing this because I want every woman out there to stay alert," she said.
"Don't trust anyone blindly. Never leave your drink unattended.
"Something far worse could have happened to us that night.
"Please take this seriously."

Kneecap rapper to appear in court for alleged support of terrorist group
A member of rap group Kneecap is due to appear in court for allegedly supporting a proscribed terror organisation. Liam Og O hAnnaidh, who performs under the stage name Mo Chara, is accused of displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah at a gig in November last year. Demonstrations in support of the rapper have been organised outside Westminster Magistrates' Court in London where he is due to appear on Wednesday, as well as in Dublin. The Metropolitan Police has imposed conditions limiting where the demonstration outside the court can take place on Wednesday, saying they were needed to 'prevent serious disruption'. In response the rap group described this move as a 'calculated political decision' that was 'designed to try and portray support for Kneecap as somehow troublesome' and 'asked supporters to go out of your way to be compliant with all instructions issued, irrespective of how pitiful'. O hAnnaidh received a rockstar welcome when he appeared at the same court in June, supported by fellow bandmates Naoise O Caireallain and J J O Dochartaigh. He was greeted by a festival-like atmosphere for his first court appearance, with dozens of fans waving flags, playing drums and one supporter setting off a smoke canister. The court previously heard the 27-year-old defendant is 'well within his rights' to voice his opinions on the Israel-Palestine conflict, but the alleged incident at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, north London, was a 'wholly different thing'. O hAnnaidh is yet to enter a plea to the charge.
