Gwyneth Paltrow had crush on A-list Hollywood heartthrob while dating Brad Pitt

Yahoo17-07-2025
Gwyneth Paltrow once had the hots for this Hollywood heartthrob while she was dating Brad Pitt, a new biography claims.
Paltrow and Pitt became a hot topic when they began dating in 1994. However, Paltrow's 'doubts' about their relationship had her crushing on Hugh Grant, according to 'Gwyneth: The Biography' by Amy Odell.
'During 'Emma's' filming, Gwyneth expressed doubts to one crew member that Pitt was right for her, and admitted that she had a crush on Hugh Grant,' reads an excerpt from the book, per People.
''Brad and I had very different upbringings,' she told an interviewer. 'So when we go to restaurants and order caviar, I have to say to Brad, 'This is beluga and this is osetra.''
After the film was released, however, Paltrow's relationship woes still left her in emotional turmoil, which led her to seek assistance from her friend makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin. She 'cried about Pitt multiple times.'
'He wanted to be with her but seemed to feel threatened by her success and all the attention she received. [Aucoin's] advice to Gwyneth was frank, 'You really need to end this,'' the book reads.
The two eventually ended their relationship in 1997, but never 'publicly gave a concrete reason for their breakup.'
However, 'two people recalled a rumor about it stemming from Gwyneth cheating on Pitt [with costar John Hannah] while she was filming 'Sliding Doors.' She told Howard Stern in 2015: 'I wasn't ready, and he was too good for me.''
After Paltrow, 52, and Pitt's Hollywood romance ended, the actress went on to date Ben Affleck, who was 'struggling with alcoholism and a gambling habit' at the time he was introduced to Paltrow in 1997, according to the biography.
Though, while she was a fan of their sex life, their relationship ended after a little over a year of dating.
'Their physical chemistry couldn't overcome his self-destructive impulses, which may have even included cheating on her,' reads an excerpt from the book.
'After they broke up, Gwyneth said, 'I love men, even though they're lying, cheating scumbags.''
Years after calling it quits with Affleck, the Goop founder went on to marry Coldplay rockstar Chris Martin on Dec. 5, 2003. They wound up getting divorced after more than 10 years of marriage in 2014.
They welcomed two children during their marriage: daughter Apple in 2004, and son Moses in 2006.
The mogul is currently married to producer Brad Falchuck, whom she wed in 2018.
'Gwyneth: The Biography' will become available for purchase on July 29 and is available now for preorder.

Gwyneth Paltrow stars as Astronomer spokesperson after Coldplay kiss-cam scandal

NEW YORK — Astronomer has enlisted Gwyneth Paltrow as their temporary spokesperson after her ex-husband and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin caught the company's CEO and head of human resources cuddling at his concert. In a video shared on social media Friday night, Paltrow, seated behind a desk with her hands clasped, reveals she'd been hired 'on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer.' 'Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days,' the 'Shakespeare in Love' actress says. 'And they wanted me to answer the most common ones.' The first question posed to Paltrow reads: 'OMG what the actual f-?' The Oscar winner offers a soft smile and a nod before going on to discuss Astronomer rather than the scandal that cost the company its CEO, Andy Byron, and HR executive Kristin Cabot. 'Yes, Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow, unifying the experience of running data, ML and AI pipelines at scale,' Paltrow cheekily explains. When asked how the company's social media team was doing, the Goop Founder, instead of answering, reveals there are still spots available for Astronomer's Beyond Analytics event in September. 'We will now be returning to what we do best, which is delivering game-changing results for our customers,' Paltrow concludes. 'Thank you for your interest in Astronomer.' The clip comes just more than a week after Byron and Cabot, both of whom are reportedly married to other people, attended a Coldplay concert together in Foxborough, Massachusetts. At one point during the night, the couple were blasted onto the jumbotron — but the moment they appeared on the big screen, both Byron and Cabot immediately tried to duck out of frame. 'Oh, look at these two,' Martin could be heard saying from the stage. 'All right, come on, you're OK,' the singer continued. 'Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.' Video of the incident has since taken social media by storm, spawning no shortage of jokes and memes.

Gwyneth Paltrow hired as Astronomer's "very temporary" spokesperson after Coldplay KissCam scandal

Astronomer — the company whose CEO resigned after being caught on a KissCam at a Coldplay rock concert embracing a woman who was not his wife — is trying to move on from the drama with someone who knows the band pretty well. Actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who was married to Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin for 13 years, announced Friday on X that she was hired by Astronomer as a "very temporary" spokesperson. Astronomer, a tech company based in New York, found itself in an uncomfortable spotlight when two of its executives were caught on camera in an intimate embrace at a Coldplay concert — a moment that was then flashed on a giant screen in the stadium. CEO Andy Byron and human resource executive Kristin Cabot were caught by surprise when Martin asked the cameras to scan the crowd during a concert earlier this month. "Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy," Martin joked when the couple appeared on screen and quickly tried to hide their faces. In a short video, the "Shakespeare in Love" and "Ironman" star said she had been hired as a "very temporary" spokesperson for Astronomer. "Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days and they wanted me to answer the most common ones," Paltrow said, smiling and deftly avoiding mention of the KissCam fuss. "We've been thrilled that so many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation," she said. "We will now be returning to what we do best — delivering game-changing results for our customers." Byron resigned last week after the company said it had launched a formal investigation after the video of him went viral online. Cabot has also resigned from the company, an Astronomer spokesperson confirmed to CBS News on Thursday. When footage from the KissCam first spread online, it wasn't immediately clear who the couple was. Soon after, the company identified the pair. The video clip resulted in a steady stream of memes, parody videos and screenshots of the pair's shocked faces filling social media feeds. Online streams of Coldplay's songs jumped 20% in the days after the video went viral, according to Luminate, an industry data and analytics company.
