PJTSAU's seed distribution prog begins
The programme was launched on Monday in the presence of Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, who distributed quality seed kits to 10 selected farmers in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district during the State Formation Day celebrations.
Similarly, in Ranga Reddy district, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Aldas Janaiah, along with Chief Minister's Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, MLA Malreddy Rangareddy, and District Collector Narayana Reddy distributed quality seed kits to 10 progressive farmers during the State Formation Day celebrations.
In various districts across the state, ministers, public representatives, Government whips, corporation chairmen and district collectors participated as chief guests in the State Formation Day celebrations and distributed seed kits to around 300 progressive farmers.
The university planned to distribute quality seeds to about 40,000 progressive farmers in approximately 11,000 villages, through the 'Quality Seeds to Every Village' programme.
On the occasion of State Formation Day, around 300 farmers received seeds in various districts. The remaining selected farmers will receive seed kits on June 3 through local Rythu Vedika platforms in the presence of public representatives, agricultural extension officers, agricultural officers, and university officials.

Police, Forest officials not allowed to enter RoFR land: Deputy CM
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has said that Police and Forest officials were not allowed to enter the lands falling under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) category. He was chairing a review meeting with officials of both Khammam and Bhadradri Kothagudem at the Integrated District Offices Complex in Palvancha on Sunday. The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Animal Husbandry Minister and Khammam district in-charge Vakiti Srihari. It reviewed flood preparedness, implementation of welfare schemes and other key policy initiatives, official sources said. Addressing the review meeting, the Deputy CM said that farmers cultivating RoFR lands would be provided solar pump sets, sprinklers, drip irrigation systems and saplings of fruit crops, free of cost, under the Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam scheme. The flagship scheme will benefit tribal farmers holding land titles under the RoFR Act across the State over the next three years. He emphasised that there is no shortage of urea and the government is taking all the necessary steps to meet the demand for urea in the current kharif season. He directed the officials to prepare plans to promote fish seed farming through women self-help groups in each district. The government is presently releasing 89 crore fish seed into water bodies annually by purchasing them from other areas, he noted, highlighting the vast potential for creation of livelihood and income generating opportunities for women by involving the SHGs in fish seed farming. He asked the officials to submit details of number of saplings planted under Vanamahotsavam programme over the past ten years, expenditure incurred and survival rate. Mr. Vikramarka instructed the officials to ensure quality food is served to students in Welfare and Gurukul schools in strict adherence to the prescribed menu and regular medical check-ups for students.

PJTAU to confer degrees on 519 students at 55th convocation on Aug 2
Hyderabad, July 24 (UNI) The 55th Convocation of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) will be held on August 2 at the university auditorium in Rajendranagar, according to Registrar Dr Vidyasagar on Thursday. A total of 519 students, including undergraduates, postgraduates, and Ph.D. scholars, will receive their degrees during the ceremony. Of these, 322 are women and 197 are men. The Registrar informed that Dr M L Jat, Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), will attend the event as the chief guest and deliver the convocation address. The convocation will be held under the chairmanship of Telangana Governor and University Chancellor Jishnu Dev Varma. As part of the honours, nine postgraduate and Ph.D. students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance will be awarded gold medals. In addition, two postgraduate and Ph.D. students will each receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000. Twenty undergraduate students will also be awarded gold medals during the ceremony. Godavari water released from SRLIP's first pump house
To prevent withering of standing crops in the ayacut of the Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) zone II in the erstwhile Khammam district, Godavari water has been released from the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project (SRLIP)'s first pump house at BG Kothuru village in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Saturday. According to official sources, the decision has been taken to release water from the SRLIP's first pump house following representations made by several farmers' organisations to save the standing crops in the ayacut under the NSP left canal system, citing early sowing of crops in the current kharif season. The associations representing the NSP ayacutdars sought immediate release of Godavari water to protect the standing crops as Krishna water from the Nagarjunasagar dam is yet to reach the NSP zone II. Sources added that Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao apprised Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy of the situation following which the latter issued direction to the officials to release water from the SRLIP's first pumphouse. The trial run of the SRLIP first pump house was conducted successfully in June last year. The State government has laid special focus on the SRLIP to complete the project on a fast-track mode.
