Nioh 3 brings open zones and ninjas in 2026
A third entry in the Nioh series was revealed at the PlayStation State of Play showcase. We got a good look at the gameplay ahead of its 2026 release, but there's a demo available now for you to test it out for yourself.
Nioh was Koei Tecmo's take on the popular Souls-like genre of games, but with a distinctly Japanese twist. The first two games are each set in historical Japanese eras, and Nioh 3 is no different, with the trailer closing on the introduction of a young Tokugawa. This would place the game in the unstable Sengoku period. The only other plot details shared were that our protagonist is on a quest to become the next Shogun and is fiercely dedicated to defeating the yokai for a mysterious reason.

The announcement trailer was packed with high-speed and brutal action that set the original games apart from others in the genre. Monstrous and magical Yokai are heavily featured, but there are some new tricks up our sleeves to combat them. Chief among them is the new styles players will pick from: Samurai and Ninja. Samurai style will be familiar to past games, focusing on Arts, parries, and an aggressive playstyle.
The new Ninja style focuses on dodges, taking advantage of elevation, and Ninjitsu techniques like Mist, which leaves an afterimage clone after attacking. You won't have to choose just one style, though. In Nioh 3 you will be able to swap back and forth between both styles on the fly. We see this in action as the samurai class parries blows before slipping into the Ninja form to leap away and attack from above with a ranged weapon.
Where previous games were level-based, Nioh 3 now features wide open fields to explore, said to be filled with enemies, secrets, and challenges in something called 'The Crucible.'
Nioh 3 will launch sometime in early 2026 and is currently only announced for PS5, but you can play the demo right now. Act fast, because the demo will only be up until June 18.

‘Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles' Looks Amazing
Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the best tactical role-playing games ever made, and it is finally getting remastered. Called The Ivalice Chronicles, it will include an enhanced and classic version of the game. The enhanced iteration will include new voiced dialogue, improved user interface, graphical updates, and a new and easier 'Squire' difficulty setting. The latter is actually a sensible addition for modern players, as the original Final Fantasy Tactics was an exacting game. This should come as no surprise, as it was directed by Yasumi Matsuno, who is a somewhat curious figure in gaming. Having worked on previous tactical role-playing games such as Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics was as meticulous in many ways. While many hadn't played these kinds of tactical role-playing games outside of Japan before, for them, Final Fantasy Tactics was something very new and different. The tactical element, with characters moved around on a virtual board, was a visual and functional departure from the classic Final Fantasy games, and imbued a new kind of strategy. For many, Final Fantasy Tactics is regarded as the definitive tactical role-playing game. Although I would beg to differ, as the Super Robot Wars games, I think, are more involved, and also predate the likes of the first Ogre Battle as well as Final Fantasy Tactics. That aside, this new remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics is most certainly welcomed. Regardless of my personal tactical role-playing game preferences, it is still an excellent game. You should also check out Tactics Ogre: Reborn if you fancy a challenge before this remaster is released. It is an investigative text chat adventure about being stuck in a 1920s-esque world of magic, monsters and hats that talk to you. Because it is so early access, not all of the planned features function yet, such as the music and sound components. Keep an eye out for future updates as the game develops. RELATED: May's Most Anticipated Video Games The gameplay is accessible only through dialogue choices and the content could be considered mature with the complex storytelling style. The game deals with themes of anxiety, depression and isolation with the memory loss aspects set over a surreal, spooky backdrop. There are some discoverable objects as you play, but they result in more dialogue options. You can read and ask the questions at your own pace in whichever order you like with no consequence. Why Should I Play? So why should you play Razzopolis? I would suggest this game to anyone who is looking for a narrative game with a high-interest writing style and heavy world-building elements. Because it is playable in a browser and the gameplay consists of dialogue options and point-and-click exploration, it is accessible to anyone.
