Homestays, which provide an opportunity to experience the unique hospitality culture of Kodagu, are also helpful to the local economy. MP Yaduveer said that everyone should take care of preserving Kodagu in its original form by carefully preserving the Ain Mane culture found only in the district.
The Kudlur Industrial Area in Kodagu will allocate substantial space for new industries. The suggestion was made to utilise this space for district development, while concerns of coffee entrepreneurs were presented to the assembly.
G Chidvilas, while leading a discussion, advocated for increased domestic consumption of Kodagu-grown coffee. He suggested implementing coffee facilities in the Indian Army and requested basic amenities at Kodagu tourist spots. Regarding the railway ticket booking centre, he said it will be provided in the city. The authorities are looking for locations, he added.
Kodagu District Chamber of Commerce president BR Nagendra Prasad voiced concern that the delay in the railway project that would benefit everyone has not yet been implemented.
He brought to the attention of the MP the issue of there being no ESI Hospital in Kodagu district, which has a large number of workers.
Yaduveer said that the survey work of the railway connection routes to the district was completed and the necessary 'land acquisition' process should be done for the implementation of the project. The delay in this work by the state govt is the reason why the railway project is not being implemented on time.

Parliament extends President's Rule in Manipur by six months

The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday passed a statutory resolution to extend the President's Rule in Manipur by six months. The resolution, passed by the Lok Sabha on Thursday, was approved by the Upper House amid protests by Opposition MPs over the Election Commission conducting a special intensive revision of Bihar's electoral rolls. The resolution, moved by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, was approved through a voice vote. President's Rule was imposed in the state on February 13, four days after Bharatiya Janata Party leader N Biren Singh resigned as the chief minister. His resignation came amid ethnic clashes between the Meiteis and Kuki-Zo-Hmar communities. At least 260 persons have been killed and more than 59,000 persons displaced since the violence broke out in May 2023. There were periodic upticks in violence in 2024. Singh resigned as chief minister amid allegations from Kuki-Zomi-Hmar groups that his response to the violence was partisan and that he had stoked majoritarianism. The BJP leader stepped down a day before his government was to face a no-confidence motion and floor test in the Assembly. The Opposition Congress had described Singh's resignation as belated and akin to 'shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted '. The last time President's Rule was imposed in Manipur was between June 2, 2001, and March 5, 2002, for 276 days due to political instability. President's Rule under Article 356 transfers the powers and responsibilities of the state government to the Union government and the functions of the state Legislature to Parliament for the duration of its enforcement. The only exception is the operation of High Courts, which are unaffected.

Odisha chalks out 'blueprint' to deal with Maoists in Rourkela police district

Bhubaneswar, Odisha Police have chalked out a 'blueprint' to enhance security measures in Rourkela police district to deal with Maoists, a senior officer said on Tuesday. Odisha chalks out 'blueprint' to deal with Maoists in Rourkela police district The measure comes after suspected Maoists carried out three improvised explosive device blasts on railway tracks along the Odisha-Jharkhand border on Saturday and Sunday, police said. The two blasts, which caused damage to the tracks, occurred at separate locations, one in Odisha and another in Jharkhand, they said. In one of the blasts that took place on the tracks in the K Nuagaon police station area in Sundargarh district, a railway personnel was killed and another was injured. The Sundargarh revenue district has two police districts Sundargarh and Rourkela. ADG Sanjeev Panda, who visited the incident sites and held discussions with the local police officers, said there had earlier been no Maoist-related incident in Rourkela police district in the last seven years. The last Maoist incident in the police district was reported in 2018, he said. "However, Maoist activities resurfaced recently in the district. So, we have decided to revise our response. We have chalked out a blueprint to deal with the Maoists," Panda told reporters in Rourkela on Tuesday. The blueprint was prepared in accordance with the target set by the Union Home Minister for eradicating Maoism by March 2026, Panda said. "We will strengthen our security infrastructure in the district. We will set up new security camps, deploy additional Special Operations Group teams, and strengthen our intelligence network. We strongly believe that we will succeed in our motto," the Odisha Police ADG said. He said that the Maoists have a presence in Saranda forest in Jharkhand, from where they come to Odisha sometimes. To deal with them, Odisha Police, in coordination with their counterparts in Jharkhand, will conduct joint anti-Maoist operations in the area, Panda said. Commenting on security arrangements at railway tracks, he said, "Our bomb disposal squad has cleared the tracks on the Odisha side."
