Microsoft Launches Threaded Conversations Feature in Teams Microsoft has officially added threaded conversations to its Teams communication platform this week, following through on a long-promised and highly requested feature, originally scheduled for mid-2025. The company has now released a public preview of threaded conversations, allowing Teams users to enable the feature. اضافة اعلان Threaded messaging in Microsoft Teams is being rolled out initially within Channels, and it works a bit differently compared to how Slack handles threads. Noga Ronen, Principal Product Marketing Manager for Microsoft Teams, explains: 'You can follow the most important threads, and when a key update or decision is made, you can bring it back to the main conversation, keeping everyone informed without needing to review every single reply.' Users will now be able to create either posts or conversation threads within a channel, but unlike Slack's simplified threading system, Teams requires channel owners to choose between posts or threads, depending on how the channel is structured. Additionally, Microsoft has introduced a 'Followed Conversations' view in Teams. This lets users easily track conversations they care about—and just as easily unfollow noisy threads. Ronen adds: 'By default, you'll follow only the conversations you've started, replied to, been mentioned in, or explicitly chosen to follow.' Alongside the threaded conversation preview, Microsoft Teams now supports multiple emoji reactions per message. Ronen also notes that users can now more easily search for GIFs using the /gif command, enhancing the fun and interactivity within chats. Youm7

Microsoft has a new trick to improve laptop battery life on Windows

Ammon News - Microsoft has started testing a new feature in Windows 11 that will improve laptop battery life. A new adaptive energy saver mode will soon automatically enable or disable the main energy saver mode, based on your laptop's workload rather than just its amount of battery life left. The energy saver mode in Windows 11 typically dims a display brightness by 30 percent, disables transparency effects, and stop apps running in the background. Non-critical Windows update downloads are also paused, and certain apps like OneDrive, OneNote, and Phone Link may not sync fully while energy saver is enabled. This new adaptive energy saver mode, which will only be available on devices with a battery, will automatically enable or disable without affecting screen brightness. That will make it less noticeable on devices like laptops, tablets, and handhelds. 'Adaptive energy saver is an opt-in feature that automatically enables and disables energy saver, without changing screen brightness, based on the power state of the device and the current system load,' explains Microsoft's Windows Insider team. Microsoft has started testing this with Canary Channel Windows 11 testers recently, so expect to see it appear in Windows 11 later this year.

Windows 11 Surpasses Windows 10 in Market Share - Jordan News

Microsoft has reached a significant milestone with Windows 11, just months before support for Windows 10 is set to end. According to data monitored by Windows Central, Windows 11 has become the most widely used desktop operating system, nearly four years after its release. It now holds 52% of the market share, compared to 44.59% for Windows 10. اضافة اعلان While Windows 11 had already become the most popular operating system among PC gamers as of last September, its overall adoption rate had remained below that of Windows 10—until now. Leaked data from October 2023 revealed that Windows 11 was running on over 400 million devices at the time. However, this growth rate was slower than that of Windows 10, which reached the same milestone in just one year, compared to Windows 11's two years. One key factor behind Windows 11's slower adoption has been its stricter hardware requirements. Although Microsoft offered a free upgrade for Windows 10 users, millions of devices were ineligible due to more demanding CPU and security specifications. In an effort to encourage upgrades, Microsoft has sometimes resorted to full-screen prompts nudging users toward Windows 11. Support for Windows 10 is scheduled to end on October 14, and Microsoft recently announced that users will receive one free year of additional security updates—but only if they enable Windows Backup and sync their Documents folder with OneDrive. Otherwise, users will have to pay $30 USD for one year of updates or redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points.
