Salman Khan

Salim Khan

Salman's Reflective Post
Posting a picture of himself, sporting a serious, sombre look on his face, the actor reflected on the themes of past, present, and future. My dad just said this to me, it's so true.
Kash (I wish) I heard this earlier but never too late".

The Brunch round-up for August 02: The week and how it made us feel
Shouting 'Statue'. How many Taylor Swifts is too many Taylor Swifts? Madame Tussauds is guessing: 22. They've added a record 13 new wax figures of her to their existing nine, to mark the Eras tour. They've set them up across the world. The closest to us: Hong Kong. Go worship. Madame Tussauds has added 13 new wax figures of Taylor Swift to their existing nine. (SHUTTERSTOCK) Jenna Ortega says grown men get abusive if she doesn't respond to them in public. Eww! (SHUTTERSTOCK) Scowling at fans. Jenna Ortega (Wednesday from the Netflix show) says she now hates it when people call out her name in public. Because it's mostly grown men doing it, calling her a 'c*nt wh*re' if she doesn't stop for them. Paparazzi were bad enough, now this. Do better, men! Nathan Fillion's hometown, Edmonton, has dedicated a monument to the actor. (INSTAGRAM/@VIVIDPRINT) On rhyme patrol. In another episode of Canada Wins, Nathan Fillion's hometown, Edmonton, has dedicated a monument to the actor. The Nathan Fillion Civilian Pavilion (painted vermilion) is where tired shoppers can put their feet up and give thanks to the actor and his absurd Superman haircut. We, meanwhile, are trying to erase Mughal street names... Men are doxxing women who speak out about past partners on the Tea app. Ugh. (SHUTTERSTOCK) Brewing it bitter. An app called Tea allows American women to warn each other about men in their city. So, of course, men there are now doxxing the women who speak out. No, there isn't one for India yet. But ladies, stay old-school with the warnings. Reach out to women privately. Let. Them. Know. Every time YouTuber Trisha Paytas gives birth, a celebrity dies. Something's sus. (INSTAGRAM/@TRISHAPAYTAS) Delivering the news. YouTuber Trisha Paytas has some explaining to do. Every time she gives birth, a celebrity dies. She was in labour just hours before Queen Elizabeth passed. Her next baby came as Pope Francis departed. And just as her third was born, news of Ozzy Osbourne's death broke. Coincidence, obvs. But what an unhinged theory! Astronomer has signed on Chris Martin's ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow as a temp spokesperson. Bravo! In Goop's thrall. Our fav reaction to the Coldplay affair reveal? Chris Martin's ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow signing on as temp spokesperson to talk about the former CEO's company Astronomer. Way to lean into the fracas, guys. And a PR masterstroke. Now, if they could get Dakota Johnson too… No matter what Sacha Baron Cohen does, most people remember him as Borat in the 2006 movie. (INSTAGRAM/@SACHABARONCOHEN) Looking twice. No matter what Sacha Baron Cohen does, most people still remember him in and as Borat (2006). Might his shredded, post-divorce glow-up change that? OK, it's for his role as Mephisto in the Marvel movie, Ironheart. BTW, we still remember the rape and sexual assault allegations, Mr Not Very Nice. Singer Harry Styles's brand Pleasing has an adult-toy range now. That's a smooth finish. (SHUTTERSTOCK) Basking in the afterglow. Harry Styles, singer, style icon, and frequent visitor to our daydreams, is pleased with himself. Now, we can be, too. Pleasing, his brand, has an adult-toy range that includes lube and a double-sided vibrator. When you start with Watermelon Sugar, this is how you finish. Slow clap. Fall of fame: Why celebs need to start being mysterious again
Denzel Washington recently gave Michael B Jordan some killer advice: Stay out of the public eye. 'Why would people pay to see you on the weekend if they see you all week for free?' Fair point, right? Washington, 70, has been on screen for four decades without ever posting a thirst trap or a single OOTD. Most people don't even know who he's married to, let alone what's in his bag. Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner are all over our feeds. It's getting boring. (SHUTTERSTOCK) That's roughly the point – fame isn't the same as visibility. Spend a single full minute on Instagram and you'll likely see a celebrity show off three airport looks, make a red-carpet appearance, cross-post a shampoo/serum/sneaker collab, or give us a tour of their empty home. Actors, ones we'd see perhaps twice a year in a movie or TV show, are now sharing their oat cheela recipes, their nightly cleansing routine, their 34th gym selfie. They're filming a '73 questions' Reel, fuming through a Hot Ones interview, backtracking from a sketchy political opinion. But here's the thing: No one asked for this. The more we see them, they less special they feel. And the more tired we grow of them. Some stars learnt this the hard way. Remember 2011, when the internet suddenly turned on Anne Hathaway? The phenomenon even had a name: Hathahate. People blamed her awkward Oscars hosting, her overly earnest Les Misérables promotional campaign, and the fact that she was relentlessly perfect, polished, poised. But mostly, she was just everywhere. Hathaway later admitted, 'People needed a break from me.' In 2011, the internet turned on Anne Hathaway because she was everywhere. (SHUTTERSTOCK) Jennifer Lawrence felt it too. In 2013, she was Hollywood's cool girl. She tripped on the stairs at the Oscars, fangirled over Jack Nicholson, and everyone ate it up. But then she tripped again. And somewhere between the millionth 'relatable' soundbite and yet another Hunger Games promo, it all started to feel a bit rehearsed. By 2017, the JLaw fatigue was so real, she had to step away for a while. It was Timothée Chalamet's turn this year. At the SAG Awards, he told interviewers that he wanted to be 'one of the greats', like Bob Dylan. He came across as being full of himself. But really, we'd just been seeing too much of him. His relationship with Kylie Jenner didn't help. (Side note: We're also sick of the Kardashian-Jenner cinematic universe.) Most celebrities haven't yet figured out that their every little clip and interview now lives permanently online. Algorithms not only amplify, they deliver concentrated doses of coverage, which means that saturation points hit quickly with doomscrollers. Sara Ali Khan felt like a breath of fresh air when she discussed PCOD on Koffee With Karan in 2020. Then, went too far, by cosplaying middle-class. It was mildly surreal watching a Pataudi talk about not owning designer bags, or refusing to pay ₹400 for cellphone roaming. Beyoncé stopped giving interviews a long time ago. It's worked in her favour. (SHUTTERSTOCK) Denzel Washington's advice comes from an era when celebs consciously stayed a little out of reach, a little unknowable. Beyoncé does it well. She stopped giving interviews in 2014. Rihanna built a billion-dollar brand by only making appearances to promote her beauty and fashion lines. Keanu Reeves has zero social-media presence, but is still the internet's fave human. What does Rekha do all day? Who knows? She won't tell us. And she deserves 1,000 aura points for that. Tabu surfaces every now and then, delivers a masterclass in acting, and vanishes again. We love her, regardless. Publicists (and the creator ecosystem) might find Washington's tip useful. Start off with high-quality art, not templated content. Take risks, be scandalous. Stay mysterious. Ghost us for a bit. Wind-up dolls were never much fun, anyway.
