Sundowns boss targeting CAF title ahead of Club World Cup
"It will definitely be a bonus to go there as African champions. It's a motivation for us and it's something that we want to do," Motsepe said.

Mamelodi Sundowns are just one step away from glory as they prepare to take on Egypt's Pyramids FC in the second leg of the CAF Champions League final this Sunday.
Following a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Loftus Versfeld last Saturday, the Brazilians face a tough challenge in Cairo, needing a win or a high-scoring draw.

Having lifted their first Champions League title in 2016, they now aim for a second continental crown in what is their third final appearance. Their first came in 2001 where they fell to Egyptian powerhouse and record holders Al-Ahly.
The Tshwane giants will also participate in next month's FIFA Club World Cup in the United States of America. Club chairman Tlhopie Motsepe is hoping to go into that tournament as African champions.
'It will definitely be a bonus to go there as African champions. It's a motivation for us and it's something that we want to do,' Motsepe said.
'We have that opportunity and that privilege to participate in the final this Sunday. Is something that we've longed for in a very long time and something that we have cherished as a football club.
'Every season, this is something that we try to achieve. It's something that we will always continue to strive for. We're one step away from doing that so it's a wonderful opportunity and we have complete faith in the players, the coach and the yellow nation.'
Should Sundowns emerge victorious on Sunday, it will be a significant boost before taking on some of the world's top clubs in what will be only their second appearance at the global tournament.
Drawn in a challenging group featuring German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund, Brazil's Fluminense, and Ulsan of South Korea, Motsepe says the team is eager to display their renowned free-flowing football on the international stage.
'We are an inspirational football club and I always say this but it's the truth because we have the responsibility to play daring and entertaining football, ' he added.
'We also have a responsibility to give people hope through football. Our motto is ' The Sky is the Limit 'so we are going to go out there and not limit our ability as a football club.

'We will show the world African excellence. When we went there for the first time in 2016, we were happy to be there and it was about us showing our culture and who we were. This time, I think we've learned our lessons and will go there wiser, stronger and bolder.'

List of players released by Orlando Pirates
Orlando Pirates could be facing one of their busiest transfer periods in the coming weeks. The Buccaneers finished second in the Betway Premiership and claimed their third consecutive MTN8 title. Despite a promising season, Pirates were unable to add more trophies. At one point, it seemed likely that the Sea Robbers might secure at least a treble, but poor form and a lack of signings in January caused the team to falter towards the end of the season. Compounding the disappointment, Jose Riveiro left the club to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly, which left Orlando Pirates fans disheartened. Last week, the club announced that they had parted ways with two defenders, Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane. Earlier, Innocent Maela and Miguel Timm also left the club. Now, the team must find replacements to strengthen their squad for the next season. According to various reports, Orlando Pirates are close to signing Tshepang Moremi from Amazulu and Sinoxolo Kwayiba from Chippa United. Another target is Stellenbosch and Bafana Bafana left-back Fawaaz Basadien, a quality defender who has also been linked to their Soweto rivals, Kaizer Chiefs. Orlando Pirates have yet to announce Riveiro's replacement or provide details about their pre-season schedule. Rulani Mokwena has been tipped to take over, but many Pirates fans are not enthusiastic about bringing the 38-year-old coach back. So far, the Buccaneers have released Monyane, Timm, Maela and Mako. More players are expected to depart the club in the coming weeks, according to reports. Another player who Orlando Pirates signed but failed to make his mark is Gilberto. The winger is currently with Petro de Luanda on loan and will likely stay there for another season. Bulls face tough task in URC final against Leinster
This is the Bulls' third appearance in four seasons in the final of the competition. Canan Moodie will be a key man for the Bulls in the URC final against Leinster. Picture: Anton Geyser/Gallo Images Another bumper weekend of sport lies in wait for sports fans, with local eyes fixed on the United Rugby Championship final involving the Bulls, the World Test Championship final involving the Proteas and the Fifa Club World Cup taking place in the USA. Here are three of our picks for the weekend. Rugby Leinster v Bulls The Irish giants, Leinster, are the hot favourites to win the United Rugby Championship trophy on Saturday having again topped the points table after the regular season and considering all the Irish internationals in their team. They are playing in their first final since the competition changed in the 2021/22 season and are desperate to win a trophy of significance. This is the Bulls' third final in the four seasons since the establishment of the URC, but they have yet to go all the way, losing to the Stormers and Glasgow in their two previous final appearances. They finished the regular season in second place and like Leinster also have a number of internationals in their ranks. The big question is, can they topple Leinster in Dublin? Prediction: Leinster by 15 Al Ahly v Inter Miami The revamped 32-team Fifa Club World Cup kicks off on Saturday night in the USA with Egyptian giants Al Ahly going up against Lionel Messi and Inter Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Ahly are coached by Spaniard Jose Riveiro, who recently joined after leaving Orlando Pirates towards the end of last season. Inter have been in good goalscoring form in the MLS, with Luis Suarez and Messi both a huge part of that. The home side will be favourites, but Ahly have plenty of tournament pedigree and Riveiro's qualities as a coach could help them snatch a draw in this Group A opener. Prediction: Ahly 1 Inter Miami 1 Paris St Germain v Atletico Madrid European champions PSG take on Spanish giants Atletico Madrid at the Rose Bowl in LA on Sunday in an intriguing opening match in Group B of the Club World Cup. Luis Enrique's PSG should still be high on adrenaline after their first ever Champions League win, but Atletico are a notoriously hard side to beat under Diego Simeone. When the two sides met in Paris in November in the Champions League group stages it was Atletico who won 2-1. PSG got better and better as their European campaign wore on, however, and should edge this one. Prediction: PSG 2 Atletico Madrid 1

Kaizer Chiefs bit by the Billiat curse in transfer move?
Kaizer Chiefs have uncharacteristically moved away from the prospect of signing free agent Percy Tau, and former signing Khama Billiat may be the reason why. 'The team feels that apparently, they believe they have learnt a lesson from the signing of Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly,' an inside source explained. 'They paid a lot of money, but the club believes those returns were not worthy of it. So that's why they are looking at other forward players apart from Percy Tau. So, for now, he is not one of the targets. But in football, you never know what will happen in future. But not now.' AmaKhosi were eager to sign the Bafana Bafana icon a few months ago but were unable to land him after it became clear he wanted to leave Egyptian giants Al Ahly. It seems they are counting their blessings as they turn their attention to rising and in-form stars. While Tau is no longer on their list, Kaizer Chiefs are still on the hunt for experienced stars, including Oswin Appollis and Feisal Salum, both of which are reportedly close to joining the Soweto giants. Several players are expected to arrive during the offseason, otherwise they risk losing Nasreddine Nabi. 'I wouldn't be honest if say that I'm going to stay if the club doesn't allow me to get all the tools to succeed next season because they have promised, and myself, I have promised the fans that I want to build a successful team that will compete in every competition to win trophies,' he said.' 'That's the condition for me to stay [at Chiefs] because I don't feel that I want to go through what I went through this season.'
