Slkor® SL27517A: Drop-in Replacement for TI UCC27517 with Enhanced 4A Symmetric Drive
1.1 Product Name: SLKOR SL27517A MOSFET Driver Solution
1.2 Applications: Power tools, motor control, AC/DC converters, industrial control, etc.
2. Performance Benchmarking & Strong Compatibility
2.1 Symmetrical Drive Capability
The SLKOR SL27517A, a 4A single-channel gate driver, offers significant advantages when replacing TI's UCC27517DBVR. Key benefits include performance compatibility, cost control, design flexibility, and supply stability.
The SL27517A provides 4A peak sink/source current (symmetric drive) at VDD=12V, identical to the UCC27517's 4A source/sink capability. It efficiently drives power devices like MOSFETs and IGBTs, making it ideal for switching power supplies and DC-DC converters.
2.2 Wide Voltage Range
The SL27517A operates from 4.5V to 20V, outperforming the UCC27517 (4.5V-18V), especially enhancing adaptability in low-voltage or battery-powered applications (e.g., portable devices).
2.3 Low Delay & High-Speed Response
The SL27517A features short propagation delay (typ. 12ns) and fast rise/fall times (6ns/11ns), minimizing switching losses. This suits high-frequency applications like digital power supplies and GaN device driving.
3. Design Flexibility & Enhanced Safety
3.1 Dual-Input Configuration & Power Consumption
The SL27517A supports inverting (IN-) or non-inverting (IN+) input modes. Its dual-pin design flexibly adapts to different logic control requirements, simplifying circuit design.
3.2 Floating Input Protection
When inputs are floating, the SL27517A output automatically latches low, preventing false triggering of power devices and enhancing system reliability.
3.3 Low Quiescent Current
Minimal static current makes it ideal for battery-powered or low-power scenarios (e.g., solar equipment, UPS).
4. Typical Application of SLKOR SL27517A in High-Power Driving Scenarios
Application Principle:
4.1 The input modulation signal provides a PWM waveform to drive the SLKOR PC817 optocoupler U2. At 24V pulse high level, the optocoupler current is ~6mA (adjustable via current-limiting resistors R6/R8 for 5V control). U2 primarily provides signal isolation. Optocoupler power is supplied by the SLKOR LM2596S-5.0 DC-DC power management IC (5V output). External modulation signals can originate from a PLC. D1 (SLKOR switching diode) acts as a freewheeling diode, conducting to protect optocoupler U2 during signal reversal.
U1 is the SLKOR SL27517A gate driver IC—a single-channel 4A high-speed low-side gate driver. It efficiently and safely drives MOSFETs/IGBTs. Features like low propagation delay, compact SOT-23 package, and ultra-low quiescent current enable MOSFET switching frequencies up to several hundred kHz. This chip is ideal for synchronous rectification drives in server/communication power supplies and industrial applications.
4.2 Engineering Recommendations:
● SL27517A is powered by 12V in this circuit. When pin 5 outputs high, it drives the SLKOR SL142N06Q MOSFET to activate the load.
● The SL142N06Q MOSFET provides a typical drain-source current of 20A at Vgs=10V, with a low 2.6mΩ on-resistance (Rds(on)), making it excellent for high-speed switching and synchronous rectification.
● Select R3 value based on actual PCB layout (100Ω shown). Place R3 close to the MOSFET gate with short traces to minimize parasitic inductance.
● D3 (switching diode) accelerates MOSFET turn-off; add as needed.
5. SLKOR SL27517A Gate Driver DEMO Board
● Double-layer PCB design. When driving parallel SL142N06Q MOSFETs handling high current, the DEMO board uses extended power copper pours on both sides for heat dissipation and current capacity.
● CN2/CN1: Connect to motor/laser pump.
● CN2/CN3: Connect to power supply (12V-60V max).
● SL27517A's low delay enables widespread use in PWM-driven high-power MOSFET applications.
● Features SLKOR logo; scan QR code to follow SLKOR updates.
