State govt prioritising north Andhra projects: Nimmala
Minister Ramanaidu stated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has specifically directed officials to prioritise these projects to ensure water security for the people of North Andhra.
He announced that the Chief Minister himself would conduct a special review meeting on North Andhra projects next week to finalize their prioritization and development strategy.
Ramanaidu highlighted that during the 2014-2019 TDP government's tenure numerous projects were sanctioned and largely completed for the benefit of North Andhra.
However, he lamented that the subsequent YSRCP government, which came to power in 2019, neglected these crucial works. 'It's unfortunate that the previous government abandoned works like the Vamsadhara Stage-2, Phase-2, and Thotapalli Barrage, even though 90 percent of their construction was complete,' Ramanaidu asserted, accusing the YSRCP of significant betrayal to the North Andhra region over the past five years.
He affirmed that the current coalition government, since assuming office last year, has been actively working to bring all these pending projects back on track. He expressed confidence that their completion would comprehensively address the drinking and irrigation water challenges faced by the region.
During the review meeting, Ramanaidu specifically assessed the progress of balance works for the Vamsadhara-Nagavali and Nagavali-Champavathi interlinking projects, enquiring about their current status from officials.
He alsosought updates on accelerating works for the Hiramandalam Lift, Madduvalasa Stage-2, and Janjavathi reservoir.
Furthermore, Ramanaidu delved into the impediments causing delays and halts in projects funded by JICA, including the Andra Reservoir, Raivada, Peddankalam, Peddagadda, and Vattigedda.
The minister instructed officials and engineers concerned to prepare comprehensive reports ahead of the Chief Minister's review. These reports should detail the prioritisation of each project, estimated completion timelines, and other pertinent information.
The review was attended by irrigation advisor Venkateswara Rao, ENC Narasimhamurthy, chief engineers, superintending engineers of various projects, and other senior officials.

Namaste Or Namaskaram... AP, Telangana turn welcoming
New Delhi: Amid ongoing Hindi imposition row in Maharashtra and southern states, the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have waded into the debate and sent out a message of inclusivity. Andhra Pradesh, under N Chandrababu Naidu's TDP, has struck an inclusive chord by assuring investors that it is offering a safe and investment-friendly environment. IT and electronics minister Nara Lokesh has given a call to the industry to "come, and build in Andhra Pradesh" irrespective of any language you speak. This comes close on the heels of Telangana government's 'Telangana Rising 2047' campaign poster which has a map of Hyderabad with 'welcome' written in at least 34 languages, including in Urdu, English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, French, Hebrew, Spanish and Japanese. The poster reads, 'Hyderabad Welcomes Everyone'.

Jagan slams Midhun Reddy's arrest, says it's ‘political conspiracy'
Vijayawada: Former chief minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly condemned the arrest of party MP PV Midhun Reddy, calling it "politically motivated and illegal". He described the arrest as a deliberate attempt by the TDP-led govt to silence public representatives who stand by the people. Midhun Reddy, a three-time Lok Sabha member, has allegedly been falsely implicated through forced confessions. "This is a targeted act of political vendetta by the TDP govt to cover up its own scams and failures. The alleged liquor scam is nothing but a manufactured narrative, created purely for media theatrics and to divert attention from real issues. The entire case is built on statements extracted under pressure, threats, third-degree torture, and also through bribes and inducements," said Jagan on social media platform-X. He said that the fact that Naidu himself is on bail with respect to a case on issues pertaining to liquor policy during 2014 - 19 itself, is an irrefutable evidence as to why he is stooping so low. The fact that he wants to nullify his case for acts during 2014-19 and also justify his policy now for 2024- 29, he is finding fault with the policy formulated by the YSRCP govt. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "What is more alarming is that, while falsely accusing YSRCP leaders of a liquor scam, the current TDP-led coalition is reviving the very corrupt liquor practices that the YSRCP govt had dismantled. The belt shops and illegal liquor outlets named permit rooms have returned. While undoing YSRCP government's successful deeds of shutting down thousands of such belt shops and permit rooms and also reducing the liquor outlets significantly, the present govt is now encouraging permit rooms, belt shops, backdoor liquor sales beyond MRP and weakening regulatory enforcement," charged Jagan. He alleged that corruption and mafia have crept back into the process of awarding wine shop licenses, and thereby placement of orders to the distilleries, undoing the transparent govt shops system they put in place in 2019. He alleged that Naidu stalled investigations into those serious corruption cases against him and his close associates after coming into power. He said that YSRCP leaders are being arrested not because they are guilty, but because the party remains deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. "This is not a legal process. It is a political witch-hunt aimed at destabilizing a strong opposition," said Jagan.
