Watch: Notre Dame football commit Ayden Pouncey with an amazing touchdown catch
While Notre Dame football 2026 commit Ayden Pouncey will line up as a defensive back at the next level, that still won't stop his team from using him on offense during his last high school season.
Football in his home state of Florida has a much different spring than others, as they play teams in exhibitions, which is exactly what happened on Friday night. The 6-foot, 3-inch and 160-pound Pouncey added to his highlight reel yesterday, with an amazing, weaving through the defense touchdown reception.
The Irish got a very good one in Pouncey, as he's ranked as the No. 146 overall prospect nationally by the 247Sports Composite. Notre Dame has had success with Xavier Watts making a transition from wide receiver to safety, and they could have a good problem with the opposite switch with the star safety.
Pouncey is showing that he's not just a star on defense, but he could be a difference-maker on offense as well if needed.

UNC football flips 4-star class of 2026 recruit from SEC program

The Tar Heels earned a major football recruiting victory on Friday afternoon. The North Carolina Tar Heels, exactly a month away from the start of their highly-anticipated 2025 football season, continue to make positive impacts in their 2026 recruiting class. This time, UNC's latest addition involves stealing a talented recruit from a regional SEC program. On Friday afternoon, class of 2026 tight end Carson Sneed flipped his commitment from Tennessee to North Carolina. Sneed's flip now gives the Tar Heels 35 commitments in their next recruiting class, which ranks nationally and continues to grow. The 247Sports Composite rankings tab Sneed, a 4-star recruit, the 13th-ranked player from Tennessee, 18th-ranked tight end overall and 404th player nationally. Sneed is following in the footsteps of his older brother, Dayton, who transferred to North Carolina in April – from the Volunteers. UNC currently lacks a true number one tight end on its roster, but former Texas A&M transfer Jake Johnson is poised to be the top 2025 guy in Chapel Hill. Outside of Johnson, collegiate experience drops off, but Arkansas transfer Shamar Easter was amongst the 2023 recruiting class' top-ranked players. Currently a 2-way player at Donelson Christian Academy in Nashville, Sneed is coming off a junior season in which he caught 33 passes, adding 409 yards and six touchdowns. On defense, Sneed recorded 44 tackles, 10 TFLs, three sacks and an interception. With Bill Belichick now leading the Tar Heels, recruits want to play in Chapel Hill. Remember when North Carolina flipped a previous 4-star recruit from an SEC program (hint, he now plays for the New England Patriots)? Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock breaks down the quarterback competition

Notre Dame football head coach Marcus Freeman met with the media yesterday, and on Friday it was offensive coordinator Mike Denbrocks's turn at the podium. In no surprise, he was asked about the quarterback competition between CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey, and proceeded to give us some insight on how he'll ultimately select who will be the starter against Miami. Denbrock wants to see 'how do they operate within the framework of the offensive scheme. Do they understand it? Do they know where their problems are? What can we do to help them? Making good decisions with the ball. Being a consistent guy, day in and day out, that the teammates can count on.' Denbrock wasn't too happy with the results yesterday, as he called it 'a little bumpy at times,' but didn't seem to be too worried do to the fact that neither of them have had a lot of live snaps under their belts. He wants them to experience some failure, as they can learn from their mistakes. He was happy to see both of them bouncing back after their errors, which shows that each of them aren't afraid to try and make plays. The race between Carr and Minchey looks like it will continue to go on for at least a few weeks until one separates from the other and a starter is named.
