UNC football flips 4-star class of 2026 recruit from SEC program
The North Carolina Tar Heels, exactly a month away from the start of their highly-anticipated 2025 football season, continue to make positive impacts in their 2026 recruiting class.
This time, UNC's latest addition involves stealing a talented recruit from a regional SEC program.
On Friday afternoon, class of 2026 tight end Carson Sneed flipped his commitment from Tennessee to North Carolina.
Sneed's flip now gives the Tar Heels 35 commitments in their next recruiting class, which ranks nationally and continues to grow.
The 247Sports Composite rankings tab Sneed, a 4-star recruit, the 13th-ranked player from Tennessee, 18th-ranked tight end overall and 404th player nationally. Sneed is following in the footsteps of his older brother, Dayton, who transferred to North Carolina in April – from the Volunteers.
UNC currently lacks a true number one tight end on its roster, but former Texas A&M transfer Jake Johnson is poised to be the top 2025 guy in Chapel Hill. Outside of Johnson, collegiate experience drops off, but Arkansas transfer Shamar Easter was amongst the 2023 recruiting class' top-ranked players.
Currently a 2-way player at Donelson Christian Academy in Nashville, Sneed is coming off a junior season in which he caught 33 passes, adding 409 yards and six touchdowns. On defense, Sneed recorded 44 tackles, 10 TFLs, three sacks and an interception.
With Bill Belichick now leading the Tar Heels, recruits want to play in Chapel Hill. Remember when North Carolina flipped a previous 4-star recruit from an SEC program (hint, he now plays for the New England Patriots)?

Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Kameron Howard
Entering the 2025 season, defensive back Kameron Howard, one could argue, might be a bit of an unknown across the Alabama Crimson Tide fanbase. A transfer from Charlotte last offseason, Howard came out of high school unranked nationally as a recruit, and was then a later add to Alabama's transfer class a year ago who did not receive as much hype as some of the additional names in the group. Howard also did not play much with the Crimson Tide a year ago as well, but could that potentially change in year two this fall? Here is a look at everything you need to know about Alabama defensive back Kameron Howard ahead of the 2025 season. Kameron Howard player information Kameron Howard career stats Howard will be entering his third season of college football this fall, with the defensive back having split the previous two between Charlotte and Alabama. Over those two seasons, Howard has appeared in 16 games, two of which he started, with 40 tackles, one TFL, two interceptions, and one PD. Kameron Howard 2024 stats Howard's 2024 season was his first at Alabama, appearing in only four games as a backup. Over those four games, Howard had only two tackles. Kameron Howard recruiting ranking Prior to beginning his collegiate career at Charlotte, Howard was unranked as a prospect in the 2023 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, out of national power St. Francis Academy in Maryland. Before coming to Alabama, Howard was rated by 247Sports as a three-star transfer, as well as the No. 912 overall player and No. 97 safety in the portal prior to committing to the Crimson Tide in April 2024. Kameron Howard 2025 season outlook Entering the 2025 season, it is likely an unknown as to how much action Howard could see in 2025. At safety, Alabama has two players cemented as starters entering the 2025 season in Keon Sabb and Bray Hubbard, meaning that Howard likely projects as a backup this fall. However, there are also others in that same conversation alongside Howard such as Zavier Mincey and Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., meaning that the former Charlotte transfer will be competing for playing time among that group as well. Overall, expect Howard to play a depth role defensively in 2025 as a redshirt sophomore, and for the safety to also potentially see time on special teams. Latest 2026 bracketology projects UNC basketball to face familiar foe in NCAA Tournament
Preseason bracketology matchups rarely happen. The North Carolina Tar Heels' basketball program is looking to avoid what happened in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. After barely getting into the tournament, UNC beat San Diego State in the first four before falling to Ole Miss in the opening round. Season-long issues then resurfaced in the Tar Heels' loss to the Rebels and this past offseason saw an overhaul of the roster. In Joe Lunardi's latest round of 2026 bracketology, UNC earns a six seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament. North Carolina is projected to a familiar opponent, 11-seed San Diego State, who advances via winning a First Four matchup. If this actual matchup takes place, Lunardi will cement himself as the top bracketologist in college basketball history (not that he already isn't). Lunardi might anger fans occasionally, but he's pretty accurate. Whereas the Tar Heels carried a guard-heavy roster last year, their upcoming roster will be post-heavy. UNC will carry 7-footers Henri Veesaar and Ivan Matlekovic at center, plus 6'11" Jarin Stevenson and 6'9" Caleb Wilson at power forward. Senior Seth Trimble and Colorado State transfer Kyan Evans will hold down the North Carolina backcourt, with freshman Derek Dixon and Virginia Tech transfer Jaydon Young behind them. If the Tar Heels make a deep run into the NCAA Tournament, Hubert Davis won't have to worry about his job security. UNC's roster is much deeper this coming season, despite plenty of new players, but that depth needs to be proven during non-conference gameplay. Michigan football bolsters 2027 class with 3-star Texas OL Tristan Dare over top programs
Michigan football is still waiting on some hopeful good news on the 2026 recruiting class front, but it's now starting to build a foundation in the 2027 class -- and where else, but along the offensive line. The Wolverines already have one commitment in 2027 in Saline (Mich.) three-star offensive lineman Louis Esposito (son of defensive line coach Lou Esposito). But on Monday, the maize and blue added another OL to bolster the class. Hailing from Southlake (Tx.) Carroll, Tristan Dare is a three-star that has an offer sheet that reads more like a high-four-star prospect. He committed to the Wolverines on Monday over Florida, Florida State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, and others. Dare is expected to be an interior player along the offensive line and is listed at 6-foot-4, 290 pounds as he prepares to enter his junior year of high school. He is ranked at No. 496 overall, regardless of position, according to the 247Sports Composite. With two commitments in the fold, Michigan is now ranked No. 19 in the 247Sports team rankings for the 2027 recruiting cycle -- which hasn't really gotten underway just yet.
