Is Mark Jankowski An Option For Game 2?
The Carolina Hurricanes fell 5-2 to the Florida Panthers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final Tuesday night at Lenovo Center.
It was a disappointing result for the team, but is it one that could prompt some changes for Game 2?
When asked about potential line tweaks to try and find more finish, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour pushed back on the thought.
"There's a fine line and I don't know what changing lines would do," Brind'Amour said on Wednesday. "You have to figure out how the game's going and then make your adjustments from there. Like I said, I didn't mind the game. I liked large parts of it. We're playing the best team and so we know it's going to be hard to get our chances."
However, what was notable was that the team had an optional skate on Thursday morning and Mark Jankowski was not taking part in it while Jesperi Kotkaniemi was.
Jankowski played just three games for Carolina this postseason before getting injured in Game 1 of the second-round series against the Washington Capitals.
The 6-foot-4 centerman is a strong depth option for the team, with his crazy scoring touch, good faceoff numbers and ability to play on the penalty kill.
Kotkaniemi on the other hand has just three points this series, a sub 50% faceoff win rate and hasn't scored a goal since February 1.
He's been fine, playing a good defensive game and bringing a bit of physicality, but he certainly hasn't been a difference maker at all.
Brind'Amour said Mark Jankowski is 100% healthy now and he could be an option for the team tonight.
"He's been a consideration for probably the last three or four games, I think," Brind'Amour said. "So he's ready to go if I decide to use him."

Sun stars make Knicks-Pacers Game 4 bold predictions
The post Sun stars make Knicks-Pacers Game 4 bold predictions appeared first on ClutchPoints. Basketball fans are hyped over the NBA Playoffs, and rightfully so. The dazzling clashes between the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers have been so exciting and entertaining that even stars from the WNBA's Connecticut Sun are getting in on the fandom action. Tina Charles was among the players who offered their Game 4 predictions when asked before their game against the Dallas Wings. Advertisement 'Knicks! What you mean, 'Knicks or Pacers?'' Sun icon Charles exclaimed without hesitation, jokingly offended by the question. 'You already know who I'm going with, man! You already know!' Guard Bria Hartley followed with her pick, quickly saying, 'Ooh, Knicks, of course. I'm a New Yorker!' Olivia Nelson-Ododa came next, mulling over the two teams for a moment before answering, 'Pacers.' Jacy Sheldon explained the thought process behind her prediction, responding, 'I got too many friends from New York, so I'm going to go with the Knicks,' with a laugh. Lastly, Haley Peters summed up the reasoning for her choice with a simple, 'I'm from New Jersey. Knicks.' Besides Nelson-Ododa, the Sun players asked lean overwhelmingly in favor of the Knicks' comeback attempt. New York is attempting to even the Eastern Conference Final series, while Indiana is aiming to take a 3-1 lead.

Former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb reacts to Jalen Hurts skipping Trump White House visit
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and reigning Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts divided fans when he chose to skip the team's celebratory White House visit in April. Hurts was one of several Eagles players who chose not to go, alongside AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jalen Carter and Brandon Graham. But as the quarterback, Hurts' absence garnered particular scrutiny. Hurts told reporters on May 20 that he didn't go because he "wasn't available." Former Eagles star quarterback Donovan McNabb, who says he's mentored Hurts since coming to Philadelphia, gave his reaction to his protégé's absence in an interview with Fox News Digital. McNabb also suggested that Hurts' absence was based on a decision. "I don't have a problem with it at all. I agree, I totally agree with him and the decision that he made, it's a grown man decision, and he stuck with it," McNabb said. "And for him, his focus again is to get himself ready to possibly get back to another Super Bowl." McNabb added that he would have made the same decision as Hurts. Hurts also raised eyebrows again when he attended the Met Gala the following week after missing the White House. Still, the vast majority of the Eagles' roster and coaching staff did attend the White House and celebrated with Trump, as well as the president's daughter, Ivanka. Those players included star running back Saquon Barkley. "It's everybody's choice," McNabb said of the players who went. "You don't harp on anybody else's decision of what they made, it's a decision. It's a personal decision that he made, for both, for Jalen and for Saquon," McNabb said. "And again, after you do your visit or whatever it may be, you get right back to focusing on the task at hand and seeing if you can have that opportunity to be invited back to the White House." When the Eagles won the Super Bowl back in 2018, the team decided not to attend the White House. Trump rescinded the invitation to host the Eagles after several players said they would not participate in the visit because of his previous criticisms of national anthem protests. The Los Angeles Dodgers visited the White House several weeks before the Eagles did, to commemorate their World Series title. Mookie Betts, who skipped a visit in 2019 with the Boston Red Sox, attended this year. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NEW YORK - JUNE 08: the 155th running of the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race ... More Course on June 08, 2024 in Saratoga Springs, New York. (Photo by) Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winners Sovereignty and Journalism are facing off in the 2025 Belmont Stakes this weekend. What time does the event start and where can you watch it live on free TV, cable and streaming? Because Sovereignty sat out the Preakness Stakes last month, it precluded the potential for the horse to become the 14th Triple Crown winner in the event's history. Following the Kentucky Derby, Sovereignty's trainer Bill Mott told reporters that the first priority was the well-being of the horse. "Of course, you always think about a Triple Crown, and that's not something we're not going to think about," Mott said (via ESPN). As such, Journalism, which finished second in the Kentucky Derby, went on to win the 2025 Preakness Stakes, creating a showdown with Sovereignty when both horses take part in the Belmont Stakes among a field of eight horses. The 157th running of the Belmont Stakes is set for Saturday at the Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and post time is 7:04 p.m. ET/4:04 p.m. PT. The 2025 Belmont Stakes will be broadcast live on FOX on free TV and on cable on FS1. In addition, a livestream of the race will be available on the FOX Sports app. Coverage of the 2025 Belmont Stakes begins on broadcast, cable and streaming at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT. According to CBS News, there's a 75% chance of rain on Saturday morning with a chance of thunderstorms and a high of 64 degrees. The chance of rain drops to 24% by post time, however, with partly cloudy skies and a high of 74.
