World's most expensive perfume costs INR 10 crore, you can buy it in this city!
Dubai is back at it again, showing the world how it does luxury like no one else. The city just dropped what's being called the world's most expensive perfume, Shumukh and it's priced at a jaw-dropping $1.3 million (yes, that's around ₹10.8 crore!).
Crafted by perfumer Asghar Adam Ali, the founder of Nabeel Perfumes, Shumukh took three years and 494 trials to perfect, all in an effort to bottle up the essence of Dubai itself. But this isn't your usual spritz-and-go kind of scent. Shumukh comes in a massive 3-liter Murano glass bottle, perched inside a 1.97-meter tall display case that's dripping in bling, 3,571 diamonds, 2.5 kilograms of 18-karat gold, 5.9 kilograms of pure silver, plus pearls and Swiss topaz for that extra glam factor.
It's basically perfume-meets-royal-artifact.
The name 'Shumukh' translates to 'deserving the highest,' which makes total sense once you see the over-the-top design. The bottle features intricate motifs that pay homage to Dubai's culture - think falcons, Arabian horses, roses, pearl diving, and even nods to its futuristic cityscape. The scent itself is a rich, gender-neutral blend of traditional Middle Eastern fragrances like sandalwood, musk, frankincense, agarwood, and amber, mixed with floral touches like Turkish rose and ylang-ylang.
It's not just about the scent though, it's also the first perfume in the world to set not one but two Guinness World Records: one for the most diamonds on a perfume bottle and the other for being the tallest remote-controlled perfume spray system. Yes, it's so extra, it even sprays itself.
Perfume isn't just about smelling good in the Middle East, it's cultural. From ancient traditions to Islamic teachings that value personal fragrance, scent is deeply woven into everyday life.
The Middle East and Africa's fragrance market was worth $6.1 billion back in 2017 and is only climbing. With that kind of demand, it's no wonder the UAE is leading the race in ultra-luxury fragrances. Shumukh has officially outshined previous record-holders like Clive Christian's No.1 Imperial Majesty and DKNY's Million Dollar Bottle, not just in price but in spectacle.
Though no buyer has been announced yet, Shumukh is currently on display at Dubai Mall, and the makers say they've already received a few 'serious' inquiries. Whether someone actually buys it or not, one thing's clear, when Dubai decides to make a statement, it doesn't whisper. It perfumes the entire room.

Princess Diana's 'super healthy' breakfast revealed by her former chef and it's a current social media favourite
Image credits: Getty Images Years after her tragic death, Princess Diana lives on in the hearts of her many followers and fans. The Princess who died at the young age of 36, was known for her fit physique, glowing beauty and trend-setting fashion choices. Thus, her personality has remained one of interest for people to date. Almost 30 years after her demise, her former chef has revealed what the Princess ate every day for breakfast. In a video shared on his YouTube channel, former royal cook Darren McGrady said that Diana began her day by eating a nutritious meal of overnight oats after discovering them on a trip to Switzerland in the 1990s. He shared that she ate it 'every day' or on 'most mornings' at Kensington Palace. Appreciating the nutritional breakfast, he said it was 'healthy and packed with protein and nutrients', which is the reason why modern-day celebrities and influencers are gaga over it. From Gwyneth Paltrow to Victoria Beckham, various A-listers have shared their affinity for the meal over the last couple of years. Darren began the video by explaining that the princess was 'looking the best she ever did' during the days he cooked overnight oats and other meals for her. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 21st Century Skills Start with Confident Communication Planet Spark Learn More Undo He also shared his recipe in the caption of the clip, which included blueberries and walnuts as ingredients. 'She was now eating healthy - her go-to breakfast was something called overnight oats,' he said. 'Now today, overnight oats are popular. Everybody is eating them, but they date back to 2012.' 'That's when you couldn't go on social media without seeing a recipe for overnight oats. But Princess Diana was eating overnight oats almost 20 years earlier, in 1993.' Diana, as per the chef, found the dish in Switzerland, where they were called 'bircher muesli' and were invented by a Swiss nutritionist who thought they were 'really, really good and all the ingredients were super, super healthy.' He joked that the princess stole the recipe and returned to Britain, where she asked him to make them for breakfast 'every day'. According to the expert, while the breakfast can be eaten hot, its cold version places the dish on 'another level' and makes it taste 'amazing.' What is Princess Diana's recipe for overnight oats? Image credits: YouTube/Darren McGrady Darren moved on to share the recipe for the oats. 'Start off by steeping the oats- that means adding liquid to them. I use rolled oats.' He advised against using quick oats or any other type of oats, as rolled oats are the best. To steep the oats, he added a freshly squeezed jug of orange juice to them. 'Cover them [the oats] with plastic and then put them in the refrigerator and leave them overnight... overnight oats.' After pulling out the overnight oats, he mixed them together and added a pot of yogurt and a drop of honey to them. Lastly, he added half a honey crisp apple, juice of one lemon, a cup of fresh blueberries and 1/2 a cup of walnuts. 'This is the classic traditional dish that Princess Diana had for breakfast every morning,' he claimed. 'I have to admit when I was making this for Princess Diana every morning at Kensington Palace, it was so good, I actually used to double the recipe so that the chef got it too,' he joked.

Explained: Why chess and Carlsen's appearance at Esports World Cup 2025 is causing controversy
The chess tournament at the 2025 Esports World Cup has begun in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but not without controversy. Saudi Arabia's alleged sportswashing and Magnus Carlsen's ambassador role has raised concerns. read more The chess tournament at the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC) kicked off on Tuesday, 29 July. This is the first time that chess is officially part of the Esports World Cup. However, even before the tournament could gain momentum, a controversy surfaced, with fans criticising the inclusion of chess at EWC. A total of 16 players are participating for a prize pool of $1.5 million, with the winner of the four-day main event taking home $250,000. Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Arjun Erigaisi, Anish Giri, and Nihal Sarin are among the big names. So, what is the controversy that has embroiled the historic event? STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Why the controversy over chess at EWC? The Esports World Cup is backed by Saudi Arabia as it is being held in the capital Riyadh. Many critics are calling this another example of 'sportswashing.' Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries have been accused of using sports to improve the country's international image despite criticism over their human rights record. Some believe chess was included in the event to add more credibility, as most of the games that are part of the World Cup are not considered mainstream. Chess has a long history and prestige, and is watched by millions around the globe. Meanwhile, the EWC also announced five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen as 'brand ambassador.' Having someone like Carlsen on board adds more weight to the event. Carlsen is the current World No. 1 player and commands a huge fan base. Reports from big outlets like The New York Times and The Guardian have pointed out how Saudi Arabia is partnering with top athletes to promote itself. Football star Lionel Messi, for example, reportedly signed a $25 million contract with the country's tourism board. One of the clauses in Messi's contract reportedly prohibits him from saying anything negative about the country. It's not confirmed if Carlsen has a similar clause, but critics suggest that this has now become a pattern. Meanwhile, some fans have also argued that chess is not an esports and it shouldn't have been a part of the World Cup. However, the organisers believe that chess is an esports. All the matches are being played on computers, instead of a traditional board.
