NCERT Launches New Class 8 Sanskrit Textbook To Encourage Logical Thinking In Students
NCERT has introduced the new Sanskrit textbook with a focus on many features. Here is a list of some of the new features included in the Sanskrit textbook.
Project-based learning has been introduced to foster logical and creative thinking in students.
Picture-based learning and practical grammar exercises have been incorporated with a special focus on diagnosis and improvement.
Modern lessons like 'Digital India' have also been introduced in the textbook.
The new Sanskrit textbook has many colorful writing exercises for fun and useful activities.
The textbook has poetic glimpses of human values and introduces Sanskrit texts such as "Hitopadesha" and "Charaka Samhita".
As per the post on X.com (formerly known as twitter) by NCERT, a new Sanskrit textbook "Deepakam" for Class 8 has been launched.

TGCHE leads English curriculum revision on NEP 2020 lines
English learning can include elements of Telangana's history and culture. This change aims to connect with local experiences and support meaningful engagement, thus English with a local flavour. That is the idea of the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) which is all ready to revise English language curriculum for all under-graduate courses in the State. The revision of English language syllabus for all under-graduate courses will follow the National Education Policy 2020 guidelines, and English skills will be linked with other subjects, as part of the policy's broad academic approach, it said on Monday. The revision will focus on less content, but with clear concepts and useful skills, or 'light but tight' idea, it added. The core of NEP 2020 - skill-based learning to build practical knowledge that supports employment - as the guide, the emphasis will be on English use in real life situations – such as at work, communications, and in digital and creative settings. According to the Council, the new syllabus will come with a standard digital resource – a 200-page reading material in PDF format, audio recordings of lessons and language elements, and a model question paper – for comprehensive listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary learning. Teachers too will undergo orientation sessions via T- Skills, Academic and Training (T-SAT) Network for guidance on teaching methods and student assessment. For the revision, the Council held consultations with experts from English departments from various universities in the State. The curriculum revision will take effect with the current academic year.

MANUU plans to build more learning centres with new courses
Hyderabad: With a view to open more avenues for the students seeking higher education, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is now focusing on strengthening its student support centers in the city and districts through upgrading the system and introducing new professional courses, especially in distance learning mode. The Sub-Regional Centre (SRC), once operated by an assistant regional director has now been upgraded and replaced with a highly experienced and professional regional director dedicated for the promotion of University mandate. Speaking to Hans India, Dr. Shamsuddin Ansari, the Regional Director, Hyderabad Sub-Regional Centre (SRC), Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad said, 'The University is keen on reaching out those areas so far uncovered and perceived as parched of such Learning Support Centres despite having a potential to produce brilliant minds.' 'The University has launched 4-year Undergraduate (UG) courses through distance learning mode as per the National Education Policy (NEP) guidelines. In addition to introducing new professional courses in distance mode, special focus is on to encourage girl students for admissions in newly introduced professional courses both in undergraduate and postgraduate streams thereby to ensure women empowerment,' maintained Dr. Ansari, who recently took charge. Polished with a vast experience in handling financial and administrative affairs of the University in the past, Dr. Ansari said, 'MBA course launched for the first time with distance learning mode aimed to facilitate the candidates seeking higher studies while working in and outside the country.' Apart from this, he said, awareness campaigns like visiting colleges, madrasas and mosques will be launched soon to reach and encourage more number of students, thereby to ensure reaching the set target. Presently there are 11 Learning Support Centres (LSCs) operating under the Sub-Regional Centre based at Nampally, Hyderabad. While two LSCs are operational in Hyderabad limits – one at University campus Gachi Bowli and another at Government Degree and PG College Hussaini Alam, the remaining nine such facilities are performing in districts such as Warangal, Nizamabad, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Bodhan, Kaghaznagar and Bhainsa. On enquiring about lack of any such LSC in Rangareddy, a district 6-8 times bigger than Hyderabad, Dr. Ansari said, 'We will work on this and come up with a similar facility at a suitable place anywhere between Chandrayangutta to Pahadi Shareef stretch soon.'

Admission test guidelines for CM Shri schools for classes 6-8
New Delhi: An entrance test will be conducted for admissions to classes 6-8 in 33 of the 75 CM SHRI schools, the Delhi government said, releasing detailed guidelines for the process. The Directorate of Education will conduct the entrance test titled CM SHRI Schools Admission Test 2025 for the academic session 2025–26. Designated as 'Specified Category' institutions under Section 2 of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, the CM SHRI schools are aimed at creating model public schools with modern infrastructure and innovative teaching practices aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The admission test will be a 'fair, transparent and merit-based selection process' and only students residing in Delhi and currently enrolled in classes 6-8 in a recognised Delhi-based school during the 2025–26 session will be eligible to apply, as per the guidelines. At least 50 per cent of the available seats will be reserved for students currently studying in government or government-aided schools in Delhi, including those under the Directorate of Education (DoE), MCD, NDMC, Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, it stated. The guideline further mentioned that a 5 per cent relaxation in eligibility marks will be provided to students belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) categories and Children With Special Needs (CWSN), in line with government policy. The online application window will open on July 30 and remain active until August 15 and admit cards will be available from August 23, while the test is scheduled for August 30 between 11am and 1.30 pm, it stated. As per the guideline, the results will be declared on September 10, with admissions to be completed by September 15. The test will be an OMR-based, objective-type paper with no negative marking. It will be bilingual and cover five key section -- Hindi, English, General Awareness, Mental Ability and Numerical Aptitude. The total duration of the test will be 150 minutes, with extra time granted to CWSN candidates as per existing norms, it added. According to DoE, test centres will be set up across various schools under the Directorate to ensure geographical accessibility. The Delhi government is likely to inaugurate its newly announced CM Shri schools in September, an official said, as preparations to operationalise the institutions gather pace. The initiative, announced earlier this year, aims to offer high-quality, future-ready education in government schools. Earlier, Education Minister Ashish Sood had said that the government had provisionally shortlisted 75 schools to be developed under the CM Shri initiative. The CM Shri schools, modelled after the Centre's PM Shri schools, will follow the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020and implement the National Curriculum Framework 2023. According to officials, these institutions are being developed with a focus on sustainability, operating as zero-waste and solar-powered campuses. Each school will be equipped with AI-enabled libraries, smart classrooms featuring augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) tools, smartboards, biometric attendance systems and robotics laboratories to promote innovation among students. The Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) is also being phased out, and its affiliated schools will now be brought under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had allocated Rs 100 crore for the CM Shri schools in her budget speech earlier thisyear.
