MP flays Congress govt for refusing to transfer Suhas Shetty case to NIA

Capt Brijesh Chowta said that the Congress govt's refusal to hand over the investigation of Suhas Shetty's murder to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raises deeply troubling questions. "This is not merely administrative hesitation — it reflects a dangerous intent to shield a growing nexus of radical elements, emboldened under its watch. In what appears to be a coordinated effort, senior Congress leaders, including the speaker and the home minister, rushed to dismiss the murder as 'just another crime', hurriedly denying any ideological motive or connection to known extremist elements," Capt Chowta told reporters on Monday.
The speaker's remarks, made even before investigations could begin, sought to absolve individuals, who are now named as accused, he said. "Despite the PFI ban in Sept 2022, reports revealed that its members regrouped and continued operations under the SDPI banner, their political front. In coastal Karnataka, SDPI leaders openly admitted that the PFI cadre is now the SDPI cadre. The exposé revealed how they evaded arrests through tactical anonymity — no records, no names — and how remittances and logistical support from within Dakshina Kannada and beyond only strengthened their anti-national activities," the MP alleged.
Since the Congress came to power in 2023, key accused in the Praveen Nettaru case were found to be still operating within Karnataka, some even evading arrest for over a year. Mustafa Paichar, a PFI-trained arms handler and conspirator in the Nettaru murder, was arrested only in May 2024 in Hassan. Kodaje Mohammed Sherif, a senior PFI state executive, was nabbed at Delhi airport in Dec 2024, after operating from abroad. Ateeq Ahmed, who helped Paichar escape to Chennai, was arrested in Jan 2025. These arrests, all made by the NIA, not state authorities, confirm that PFI-linked elements continued to enjoy a haven in Karnataka under the Congress regime, the MP said.

He sought to know if the BJP and the Congress have the guts to term Polavaram as 'kulavaram' since its coffer dam was washed away once and sunk for the second time. In the second instance, it sunk for 10 meters width and about 8 meters deep, and the Andhra Pradesh government had taken up repairs on a war-footing silently, he said. On the other hand, the 'foolishness' of the Congress government is preventing it from taking up repairs on Medigadda Barrage and in giving water to the large ayacut depending on waters lifted from the point, even 20 months after coming to power, he said. Further, the NDSA proved its double standards by not taking up investigation into the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse in February that buried eight workers, technicians and engineers alive. It is also indicative of the Congress-BJP conspiracy against Kaleshwaram, he alleged.

Congress leader equates RSS with Taliban after PM's praise in I-Day speech

21 deported to Bangladesh, says Assam CM

It was followed by operations starting on May 23, in which over 50 individuals were apprehended. The subsequent operations on May 31, June 8, June 27, July 6, and August 3 led to the repatriation of over 300 individuals. He said these operations, despite the deployment of the Border Security Force across the 267.5-km stretch of the Assam-Bangladesh border, suggest that infiltration continues to be a serious challenge.
