The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HMRC are poised to make a significant adjustment affecting thousands of individuals on 10 means-tested benefits in the coming days. This imminent change will see those receiving welfare payments, such as Universal Credit, having their money deposited into their bank accounts on a different day than usual.
When payment dates coincide with a bank holiday or weekend, the funds are transferred on the first working day before. Consequently, this bank holiday's payment will be dispatched on Friday, August 22, rather than Monday, August 25.
Those anticipating payments on August 23 or 24 will also receive their money on August 22. In the UK, over 20 million people, nearly a third of the population, receive financial aid from the DWP.
The Mirror has reported that the amount beneficiaries will receive will not change, remaining consistent with the previous payment unless there has been a change in circumstances which would affect the amount due.
Those expecting a payment on August 22 who do not receive it should contact the DWP at their earliest convenience.

Parents are being warned to act promptly or face losing their Child Benefit payments. The tax office is dispatching thousands of letters to families with teenagers, requesting updates on their future education plans - with Child Benefit currently at £26.05 a week for the eldest or only child.
For each additional child, parents receive £17.25 a week. However, payments automatically stop on August 31 on or after the child's 16th birthday, unless parents renew their claim when their child continues in education.
Parents whose children are continuing their education have until August 31 to inform HMRC, or their payments will automatically cease.
Families can continue to receive the financial support until their child turns 19 and is enrolled in an apprenticeship programme or the following education schemes:.
A levels or Scottish Highers
International Baccalaureate (IB)
Home education - if the course began before their child turned 16, or after 16 if they have a statement of special educational needs and it was assessed by the local authority
T levels
NVQs, up to level 3
Child Benefit will also continue for children studying on one of these unpaid approved training courses:.

Which day is my State Pension paid? The basic State Pension is usually paid every 4 weeks into an account of your choice. If you want to change the account, tell the Pension Service. The day your pension is paid depends on your National Insurance number. 00 to 19 - Monday 20 to 39 - Tuesday 40 to 59 - Wednesday 60 to 79 - Thursday 80 to 99 - Friday How much basic State Pension you get depends on your National Insurance record. Last year, 870,000 parents extended their Child Benefit payments, with most applying on the HMRC app or the digital service, but this year it's estimated more than 214,000 eligible families are missing out on this vital support, with many unaware of the hidden perk that comes with it. Child Benefit automatically stops on 31 August after a child turns 16 unless parents confirm their teenager is staying in full-time education or approved training. The payment is worth £26.05 a week for the eldest or only child (£1,354.60 a year) and £17.25 a week for each additional child (£897 a year). Fiona Peake, Personal Finance Expert at Ocean Finance, explains: "Missing the renewal deadline means you're turning down free money your family is entitled to. For lower-income families already juggling bills, losing over £100 a month can mean cutting back on essentials or relying on credit to get by. 'The bigger, hidden cost is the loss of National Insurance credits that count towards your state pension. Missing just one year could mean losing around £342 a year in retirement income, and missing the full eligibility period could cost more than £4,000 a year. If you take time out of work to raise children and don't claim, you could be short-changing yourself by thousands in later life.' HMRC sent letters between May and July to remind parents to renew, but if they miss the deadline, payments will stop from September. 5 ways for parents to make the most of HMRC child benefits Renew early: "As soon as you know your child's plans after GCSEs, renew your claim. Use the HMRC app, go online at or scan the QR code on your letter," says Fiona. "Do not wait until the last week of August, you could lose out on September's payment.' Child Trust Funds were set up for every child born between 1 September 2002 and 2 January 2011. If teenagers or their parents and guardians know who their Child Trust Fund provider is, they can contact them directly. Personal Independence Payments can be a much-needed lifeline for disabled people, but thousands may be unnecessarily turning down this help A number of misconceptions are wrongly preventing people from claiming their disability benefit entitlement, Personal Independence Payments (PIP). PIP provides support for disabled individuals to help cover the additional costs they face. It offers four different rates ranging from £29.20 per week to £749.80 per month, depending on the severity of a person's disability. ‌ Despite around 3.7 million currently receiving PIP, common myths and misunderstandings about the disability benefit could be stopping many more from claiming their entitlement. This is particularly relevant as proposed changes to PIP eligibility have been put on hold following controversy around Labour's welfare reform. ‌ 'I can't work and claim PIP' Many believe that all DWP benefits are only available to those who are unemployed. However, PIP is a non-means tested benefit so your income, National Insurance contributions or working hours won't affect your eligibility or entitlement. ‌ Claiming PIP does not prevent individuals from working, and claimants can alter their hours, earnings, or employment status without jeopardising this benefit. However, they may still need to report these changes to the DWP. 'I need a specific diagnosis' The disability benefit is determined by how your condition or disability impacts your ability to carry out everyday tasks and move around. Although the DWP does release figures on what conditions are being claimed for, there isn't a definitive list of diagnoses that ensure you will or won't be eligible for the benefit. According to Scope, you can even apply for PIP without having a diagnosis. The primary eligibility criteria is that your mental or physical condition has caused difficulty in everyday tasks or moving around for the past three months and you anticipate these difficulties to persist for at least another nine months. 'I can't have savings on PIP' PIP is not affected by the amount of savings you have. It's not means-tested like Universal Credit, so the amount of money or assets you have saved won't impact your eligibility or the amount you may be entitled to. However, if you successfully claim PIP, these earnings and any savings you accumulate from the benefit might affect your eligibility for means-tested benefits like Universal Credit. ‌ 'PIP is only for physical disabilities' PIP can be granted for mental or even 'invisible' conditions as well as physical disabilities. This includes conditions that may not be apparent to the naked eye, such as Crohn's disease, autism or learning disabilities. According to Benefits and Work, learning disabilities have one of the highest success rates for PIP claims at 90%, with 79% of claimants receiving the highest rates. 'I can manage without a support worker' PIP, much like Attendance Allowance, is often misunderstood, with many believing that recipients must spend their benefit money on specific support such as a carer. However, there are no rules stipulating how claimants should spend their money, as the right support varies from person to person. Some individuals may use their PIP funds to supplement their income if their disability has resulted in job loss. Others might utilise the money to make their homes or lifestyles more accessible, such as affording specialised food. The funds can even be used for hobbies, outings or savings.
