Man beaten over fin row dies during treatment at AIIMS

Jaipur: A man who was brutally beaten over a financial dispute in Bikaner succumbed to injuries during treatment at AIIMS Jodhpur Saturday, police said. The attack took place on June 26 in the Gangashahar area of Bikaner, where Vishnu Siyag, a resident of Jambheshwar Nagar, was assaulted with sticks and iron rods. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The video of the incident, showing the accused men attempting to run their SUV over the victim, went viral on social media. According to Gangashahar SHO Parmesh Sushar, the violence stemmed from an ongoing feud between Vishnu and the accused. There was a transaction involving Rs 40,000 between Vishnu's friend, Raja Soni, and the main accused, Babulal. It was alleged that this rivalry and Vishnu's relationship with a woman named Mamta Goswami led the accused to conspire and carry out the lethal attack. Police said that on the evening of June 26, Vishnu was in Gangashahar with his brother Adesh and friend Surendra Bhadu when they met Raja Soni. Shortly thereafter, as the group walked near a temple, they were confronted by Babulal, Ramchandra, Mandeep, Sukhdev, Shrawan Kunhar, Bajrang, and Subhash Sushar. The assailants were armed with sticks, iron rods, and swords. They first issued threats before launching a savage assault on Vishnu, trying even to crush him under a Bolero vehicle. Believing him to be dead, they fled the scene, leaving their victim gravely injured. Vishnu was rushed to PBM Hospital in Bikaner before being transferred to AIIMS Jodhpur, where he died despite medical efforts. "An FIR has been registered against several men and a woman," said Additional SP Saurabh Tiwari. "They were initially booked for causing grievous hurt, but the charges have now been escalated to murder." He said that three of them were arrested, while a search has been launched for others.
