John Travolta reprises iconic Grease role 46 years after the original
John Travolta left fans speechless at the Hollywood Bowl last night by bringing back his classic Danny Zuko get-up.
The signature slicked-back quiff and leather jacket were back on the stage for a surprise Grease sing-along gig.
Travolta, now 71, appeared spontaneously on stage to roaring applause at the La La Land outdoor event celebrating the 1978 musical comedy.
Surprising not only fans but also his former Grease co‑stars who were in attendance – the audience went wild when Travolta emerged as Danny.
The audience wasn't the only ones in complete shock, Travolta kept his surprise show a secret from the Grease cast: Barry Pearl, Michael Tucci, Kelly Ward, Didi Conn and even director Randal Kleiser were not in the know.
Travolta himself later confirmed on Instagram that 'no one knew' about the surprise appearance, not even his on‑screen pals.
Once on stage, Travolta dropped into character, joking in true Zuko style: 'L.A., I thought you were going back to Australia? That's cool, that's cool, baby…'
He went on to lead the cast into a heartwarming chorus of We Go Together before closing the unforgettable show with the line, 'Enjoy the show, we love you!'
Travolta's return to the role echoes a similar reunion from 2019, when he and the late Olivia Newton‑John, who died in 2022, surprised fans at a Florida sing‑along, both clad in full Danny and Sandy gear.
Fans adored the moment when Travolta picked up his high-quality Zuko wig.
Travolta said at the time he found the 50s-style hairdo suited him better than his own bald look, and this year's Hollywood Bowl appearance gave the fans the nostalgia they were craving.
The 2019 event also marked a reunion with Newton‑John, who cherished the time spent reliving their iconic Grease roles on stage together.
Newton‑John later reflected that the energy was incredible, saying: 'That movie is still loved … the excitement from the people, it was amazing'. More Trending
Her infamous leather jacket from the final scene of the 1970s classic was auctioned off, with all proceeds going to her cancer wellness foundation.
As for Travolta, he proved last night that Zuko can still light up a summer night, just like he did in 1978.
Whether the wig is rollers for Edna Turnblad or covered in gel for Zuko, the actor remains one of the best showmen of all time.
And as the Hollywood Bowl event showed, with a quiff, a leather jacket and a wink, Travolta has very much still got it.

J-Lo expertly handles unwanted visitor that crawls up her neck mid-concert
Jennifer Lopez has maintained her cool after a massive creepy crawly made its way up her neck during a recent performance. Last month the singer, 56, kicked off her Up All Night: Live in 2025 tour, her first in six years. After starting in Spain, she will play 21 shows across Europe. However, during her concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan on Sunday night, she faced an unwanted fan getting a little too close for comfort. As J-Lo stood in front of a microphone, a cricket was filmed making its way up her chest before getting to her neck. Without missing a beat, she remained calm and continued singing, grabbing the insect at the same time and throwing it to the side of the stage. Addressing the crowd while smiling, she said that 'it was tickling me' before continuing the show. Many were impressed by her poise, with fans commenting on her approach to dealing with the situation. 'I aspire to handle problems as calm and elegant as J Lo flicking a cricket off her mid-concert,' Nova commented on X. 'J Lo the goat for how she handled that cricket cuz babyyyyy I would've been rolling all over that stage,' Naj declared. 'I aspire to handle problems as calm as J Lo flicking a cricket off her neck mid concert,' Ecca added. Video of the incident, posted by a fan account also pointed out and joked: 'Plot twist: @JLo just started rehearsals for Kiss of the Cricket Woman… on stage… in real time. The light-hearted comment referenced her upcoming film project, Kiss of the Spider Woman, an adaptation of the 1993 Broadway musical of the same name, which is due to be released in the coming months. This however wasn't J Lo's only mishap on stage in recent months. Just a few weeks ago she suffered a wardrobe malfunction in the middle of a show. While performing in Warsaw, Poland on July 25, a glittery skirt the singer was wearing snapped off her waist and fell to the floor. More Trending Despite this she also didn't freak out, instead smiling and strutting around the stage. 'I'm out here in my underwear. That's gonna be everywhere,' she joked as a dancer approached her with the skirt and tried to help put it back on. She later said: 'I'm glad that they reinforced that costume. And I'm glad I had underwear on. I don't usually wear underwear.' Got a story? NBA 2K25 player spends £24,000 on microtransactions: 'It's not worth it'
A fan has revealed how much he spent on in-game currency in NBA 2K25, as he warns others about following in his footsteps. Free-to-play games have paved the way for predatory microtransactions in a litany of titles, and while it's easy to blame companies for enabling these practices, sometimes you have to turn the mirror on ordinary players. Microtransactions are often associated with skin cosmetics in titles like Fortnite, but there are plenty in full priced games too – especially sports games like EA Sports FC 25, which still uses what are essentially loot boxes for the Ultimate Team mode. These virtual collectible cards are prevalent in other sports games like NBA 2K25, and for one player they've cost him upwards of $32,000. In a video posted on his channel, YouTuber 2KOG breaks down his transaction history in NBA 2K25 over the past year. Within 11 months from September 4, 2024 to August 5, 2025, he claims to have spent $32,831,68 (£24,384) on the basketball sim. As seen in the video, the bulk of these transactions have gone towards virtual in-game currency for MyTeam cards – NBA 2K's equivalent of Ultimate Team – along with season passes. 2KOG isn't proud of this number though, and clarifies he's in an unusual position where he can afford to spend this amount of money. 'Most of you know I have a normal 9-5 type job, I also own my own business,' he said in the clip. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. 'And I do make a little bit of money off of doing these YouTube videos, so my situation is probably a lot different to most people who watch and play the game.' Despite his financial position though, 2KOG warned others from investing this amount of money into a game. 'It's absolutely not worth it,' he added. 'Even if I was breaking even [through YouTube videos], that's still a lot of resources that were put into this.' Incredibly, despite spending over £24,000, he still doesn't have all the cards available in NBA 2K25 , due to the amount of duplicates he's pulled from packs. More Trending 'I should have pretty much every card in the game, and I don't,' he added. 'And all I can do is sit here and think about how much money I've wasted. 'I did create a [YouTube] channel but it paid me a tenth of what I spent. So there's no way anyone can tell me it was worth it.' 2KOG's financial woes have since gone viral on X. At the time of writing, 2KOG's YouTube channel dedicated to NBA 2K25, which he started a year ago, has 3,5000 subscribers. If you need another reason why spending this amount of money on NBA 2K is a waste of time, none of these purchases will carry over to the series' next instalment, NBA 2K26, which is set to come out on September 6, 2025. Instead, they'll all have to be bought again for another £24K+. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter. Emmerdale star looks very different one year after devastating show exit
Emmerdale fans have done a double-take after spotting former soap star Sebastian Dowling looking seriously different just a year after his emotional exit from the show. The actor, best known for playing Heath Hope since he was a baby, recently posted new photos on Instagram showing off a dramatic transformation. With a noticeably more muscular frame and a fresh haircut, Sebastian looked nothing like the sweet village kid fans watched grow up on screen. He captioned the post 'Have you missed me' and the comments quickly flooded with fans offering their compliments. Sebastian spent 17 years playing Heath Hope, the son of Bob and Viv Hope, and twin brother to Cathy played by his real-life sister, Gabrielle Dowling. He was born during a dramatic moorland birth in 2007 and became part of the furniture in the Dales, a familiar face as he navigated childhood, family drama, and village life. But in a shock twist that aired on New Year's Day 2024, Heath's story came to a tragic end. The teen was killed in a car crash after he, Cathy, and Angelica King stole Wendy's car to go to a party. The group lost control and crashed, and while Cathy and Angelica escaped with injuries, Heath was trapped inside. Despite Wendy's desperate CPR attempts, he sadly died at the scene. More Trending The episode marked one of the show's most emotional goodbyes in years and fans were heartbroken to see him go. It also sparked a big twist. At first, viewers thought Cathy had been driving, but it was later revealed that Angelica was behind the wheel, adding a whole new layer of tension to the village. Sebastian took to Instagram after filming his final scenes, thanking the cast and crew with the message: 'Thanks to everyone @emmerdale for such a fun time filming over the 17 years ❤️.' View More » While Heath may be gone from Emmerdale, it's clear Sebastian is thriving post soap and judging by the response to his latest pics, fans are definitely keeping an eye on what he does next.
