Erling Haaland issued with transfer plea after Man City star's holiday comments
Erling Haaland has been inundated with messages from Roma fans after the Manchester City star was spotted on holiday the Italian capital. Haaland, who turns 25 on Monday, was pictured walking around Rome with his girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen, the mother of the striker's first child.
Haaland and City team-mates aren't having a regular pre-season like the 18 other Premier League sides due to their participation in the recent Club World Cup alongside winners Chelsea. But the Norwegian wasn't just in Italy to see the sights.
During his and Johansen's trip, they attend a Dolce & Gabbana fashion show. After the event, Haaland shared a post to his 37.9 million followers on Instagram raving about Rome's beauty.
"Rome is without doubt one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to!" the 24-year-old wrote. "And the food? Omg. Incredible. I'm enjoying the summer! Thanks D&G and the city of Rome for making the time here smooth. I love Italy!"
Of course, Roma's passionate supporters took the opportunity to try and urge Haaland to come back on a permanent basis - however unlikely given that he recently signed an extraordinary nine-a-half-year contract extension with City.
"If you love Rome so much, come," one supporter pleaded. A second followed up by urging: "Come to Rome, come to Serie A in the end it's not that bad!!!"
Another suggested: "Erling next to [Artem] Dovbyk would be a great offensive partnership."
But it wasn't just Roma fans who were trying their luck. "What if you come to Naples?! Ask KDB," a Napoli supporter wrote, hoping to see Haaland reunite with Kevin De Bruyne.

A move to Italy down the line is a possibility, though, especially after his dad's comments. Alf-Inge, the former City midfielder, suggested in 2022 that his son wants to play in all of the top leagues in Europe, having already conquered England and Germany.
He told France Football: "Erling could stay at City for 15 years because he is very happy and we are talking about a huge club. But my impression is that he wants to demonstrate that he can win at any of the big leagues.
"He was in Germany for two-and-a-half years and he could do something like that in his future. Staying in the Premier League for three years and then going to Italy, Spain or France. There's nothing firm about it, but it's a possibility because Erling is capable of being a winner in any team."

Iconic Netflix actress looks unrecognisable as she shares throwback snap - but can YOU guess who it is?
An iconic Netflix actress was unrecognisable as she shared a very sweet throwback picture. The Hollywood star , 53, sported a dark blonde bob when pictured as a child in her hometown Barranquilla, Colombia. She captioned the post simply: '#tbt Barranquilla.' These days the power player sports luxuriously glossy long brunette curls and is one of the most highly paid stars on TV. Can you guess who it is? That's right, it's Sofia Vergara. The heart-melting picture comes after the Colombian-American siren revealed she had a second operation on her knee which she had worked on for the first time last year. 'It's done! Round 2 ❤️❤️#knee,' wrote the brunette as she was seen in a gown while in a hospital bed with a patch and brace on her leg. In August 2024, the Modern Family star shared a look at the long scar on her knee after undergoing 'major' surgery. She had on a strapless white dress with her knee propped up as she thanked her 'handsome' doctor boyfriend Dr. Justin Saliman for helping her out; they have since split. 'If u ever get a mayor (sic) knee surgery make sure u Get a handsome doctor who will sleep with u that night!!!!' she wrote in an Instagram story with a picture of her boyfriend standing by her bed. It's unclear how the Netflix star hurt her knee. Meanwhile, Sofiaa finalized her divorce from ex-husband Joe Manganiello, 47, earlier this month. Court papers obtained by Page Six, indicate the dissolution of the Vergara-Manganiello marriage was made in accordance with the pre-nuptial agreement the couple made prior to their November 2015 marriage. The documents indicated he received all of his 'earnings and accumulations' from the date of their separation, July 2, 2023 in addition to his clothing, jewelry and 'miscellaneous personal effects.' The pair noted they never had 'any community property' between them. Sofia's settlement was similar, providing her with her own belonging, jewelry and earnings since the separation. The original reason for the divorce was 'irreconcilable differences' but Vergara later revealed in an interview with El País the fracture was over whether or not to have children. 'My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn't want to be an old mom.' She explained to the outlet, 'I feel it's not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that's not for me anymore. I'm almost in menopause; it's the natural way of things,' she stated. Earlier this month Sofia turned 53. The femme fatale was on vacation at Nammos in Europe with her pals when she celebrated another trip around the sun. She posed in a white bikini as she dug into a colorful cake while surrounded by bouquets of flowers. The post saw the two of them together as he wrote 'happy birthday' over the snapshot. Sofia is single after splitting with Dr Justin Saliman after her Joe Manganiello divorce. Last month Sofia gave an insight into what she's looking for in her next relationship, saying she wants her next boyfriend to be as rich as she is. She admitted that she needs 'fun in [her] life' - but she isn't interested in dating someone who isn't financially independent. Asked what she is looking for in her next relationship, Sofia said on the Today show: 'I want to say the basic stuff, like health and somebody that loves me. And somebody tall, handsome.' 'I want somebody that has as much money as me or more, because if not, it's a nightmare. They end up resenting you.' The Hollywood star - who was married to actor Joe between 2015 and 2024 - shared: 'I've been single now for a year and a half, and I kind of panicked once I got divorced. I was like, "I'm 52, what's gonna happen? Where am I going to find [someone]?"'

Shearer hails Newcastle's summer transfer window as disappointing.
The Magpies' legendary striker lambasted his former club's transfer policy as he admitted he was not naive in thinking their current number nine would stay at the club. Isak had stopped training with Newcastle in an attempt to force a move to Liverpool but returned after the bid from the reigning Premier League champions was turned down. 'From a Newcastle point of view, it's been a really disappointing summer up to now,' said Shearer. The all-time Premier League record goalscorer was speaking at the launch of the new Topps Premier League 2026 which features players from all 20 clubs in the league in their 2025/26 kits at the Fanatics Collectibles flagship store on Thursday . (Image: Topps) 'It would be ideal [if Isak stayed], but I'm not naive enough to know that these things happen in football, it's going on with Newcastle and it's not a nice situation for him to deal with. 'But if it's impossible to talk him around and he hasn't made his mind up, then they have to get someone in before they can let him go. 'So it's a matter of sitting and waiting and sitting. We don't know the full picture. 'Having said that, they've signed Anthony Elanga and I'm pretty sure they'll get more in.' Shearer's former club, for whom he scored 148 Premier League goals, had hoped to replace Isak with RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko but were beaten to that signing by Manchester United. After leaving Blackburn Rovers in 1996, Shearer had been faced with the same choice between the Magpies and the Red Devils but made the opposite decision to Sesko. The Premier League legend, however, does not blame the 22-year-old for his choice to move to Manchester. 'That's his choice. He's chosen to go to a club who finished 15th last year and are not in Europe this year,' he said. 'It's a lot of money. I watched him a few times last year. There's definitely room for improvement, which I'm sure he will. But good luck.' But despite his disappointment at Newcastle's expeditions into the transfer market, Shearer still found plenty to look forward to about the new Premier League season and potential new faces. 'The signings at Liverpool have been really interesting - a right-back, left-back. [Florian] Wirtz is another one and [Hugo] Ekitike is another one,' he highlighted. 'And [Viktor] Gyokeres at Arsenal - it will be interesting to see how he goes after blowing the Portuguese league wide open in terms of the goals. The goals that he scored were phenomenal. Whether we can do that [in the Premier League] remains to be seen. 'There are so many intriguing bits to look forward to.' The all-time Premier League record goalscorer was speaking at the launch of the new Topps Premier League 2026 which features players from all 20 clubs in the league in their 2025/26 kits at the Fanatics Collectibles flagship store on Thursday . He was joined by other legends such as Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand to celebrate the new stand-alone range that features legends and current stars, with an extensive parallel programme and more genuine player autograph cardss than ever before. And it brought a moment of nostalgia for the star who remembered the excitement of collecting the cards as a youngster. 'Obviously [collecting for] all the World Cups and Euros comes to mind,' recalled Shearer. 'It's pretty addictive, isn't it? Once you get one, you want to open another and another and another and it's nonstop. So yeah, I loved it. 'I just remember thinking, I've opened one packet and you've got to open another one straight away. That was my memory of doing it.' Marking the launch of the Topps Premier League 2025-26 collection were football icons Alan Shearer, Steven Gerrard, and Rio Ferdinand, joined by Jermaine Defoe, Joleon Lescott, Theo Walcott and Tosin Adarabioyo, alongside Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin in a star-studded celebration.

Lescott backing Manchester City to win the Premier League title
The 42-year-old backed his former club to bounce back from a disappointing Premier League and Champions League campaign under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola, suggesting they would have benefitted from the mental break last season provided. Guardiola has been active in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of James Trafford, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, and Sverre Nypan Manchester City won an unprecedented four Premier League titles in a row between 2021 and 2024 but were unable to sustain that as they finished trophyless in 2025. The former Manchester City star was in attendance for the launch of the Topps Premier League 2026 collection at the Fanatics flagship London store on Regent Street on Thursday. (Image: Topps) Lescott, however, places them right back among the top pack as they head into a new season. 'Regardless of how last season panned out, they are definitely going to be one of the favourites. It's Pep Guardiola, it's Man City with some of the world's best players,' he said. 'It would be foolish to not see them as favourites in every competition they're enter. 'That doesn't mean they're going to win everything, but they're definitely one of the favourites.' City finished 13 points behind champions Liverpool in third place last season but Lescott put their drop off down to a fatigue from winning. 'It was obviously an unprecedented season for them last year, but they've achieved something no one in the history of English football has achieved so it's always going to take its toll,' he explained. 'It did that last year. Not only a physical toll, but a mental toll to stay focussed for that long and to have to win games for that period of time. 'When they recognised that they weren't going to win the title, whether it was subconsciously or not, they were able to switch off a little bit. 'Physically the demand was still there but hopefully they've had a break mentally, not to have to go out there and concentrate points wise, hopefully that now means they'll come back ready to go.' Lescott was speaking at the new Topps Premier League 2026 trading card launch in London, which features players from all 20 clubs in the league in their 2025/26 kits at the Fanatics flagship store on Thursday. He was joined by other legends such as Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand to celebrate the new stand-alone range that features legends and current stars, with an extensive parallel programme and more autographs than ever before. The showcase of Premier League talent among the collectibles also gave Lescott reason to be excited about his former club as he enthused over City's signing of 21-year-old Cherki. 'He's very exciting, for the Premier League as well. He plays with a lot of flair, a lot of quality. I'm anticipating a good start for him and a good season,' he said. 'But again, we can't get carried away and make judgements too soon, whether it's good or bad, there needs to be a bedding-in period.' And despite the excitement, Lescott also issued caution about expectations on the youngster who joined from Lyon this summer. 'It's a big change for him, coming from the French league, it's going to be a different demand, physically, mentally, and also a tension. I think we only see foreign players in different leagues when they do well. 'Now we see him in the tough times and the scrutiny comes when you're not doing so well. So it's how they manage those periods and understand that people are going to be watching every game, every moment.' Marking the launch of the Topps Premier League 2025-26 collection were football icons Alan Shearer, Steven Gerrard, and Rio Ferdinand, joined by Jermaine Defoe, Joleon Lescott, Theo Walcott and Tosin Adarabioyo, alongside Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin in a star-studded celebration.
