YSRCP made AP a debt-ridden State, asserts Savitha

Somandepalli: Minister Savitha on Thursday launched a scathing attack on YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing him of resorting to 'corpse politics' to stay relevant.
She stated that under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu, the NDA government is progressing with development and welfare as its two eyes.
Participating in the 'First Step Towards Good Governance' programme held at Somandepalli mandal headquarters, the minister visited households to gather direct feedback from citizens on the one-year performance of the NDA-led government.
She personally interacted with people to understand whether they received welfare scheme benefits and instructed officials to immediately address any lapses in delivery.
She expressed satisfaction at the public's positive response and stated that although there are no elections at present, the NDA leaders are stepping into the public domain to assess the government's impact, following Chandrababu Naidu's directive.
'Unlike the previous YSRCP government, which distanced itself from people after coming to power, we are engaging directly with the public,' she said.
Taking a dig at Jagan, she remarked that his 'Recall Manifesto' campaign is merely an attempt to assert his political relevance.
'Corpse politics has become Jagan's habit,' she added, criticising his approach to public issues.
She asserted that within just one year, the NDA has brought Andhra Pradesh back on track after the damage caused during the YSRCP regime.
She said that Chandrababu's governance gives equal importance to both development and welfare and that all election promises are being fulfilled.
She concluded by saying that the only thing Jagan did during his five-year rule was deceive the people.
The event was attended by NDA alliance leaders and party workers from Somandepalli mandal.

Good news for apple farmers: Centre raises MIP of apples to Rs. 80/kg from Rs. 50/kg

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 4 (ANI): In a major relief for apple growers across the country, including those in Himachal Pradesh, the Modi government has raised the minimum import price (MIP) of apples from 50 to 80 per kg. The revised price came into effect on June 3, 2025, following approval from the Union Agriculture Minister. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state spokesperson Chetan Singh Bragta shared the information during a press conference in Shimla on Friday. He described the move as a reflection of the Modi government's farmer- and horticulturist-friendly mindset, and credited its strong political will for the decision. Calling it a visionary and bold step, Bragta said the hike in MIP will curb the illegal inflow of foreign apples and help local producers get fair prices for their produce. He also noted that this is a continuation of the government's pro-farmer policy, recalling that in 2023, the Modi government had introduced MIP for apples for the first time at 50 per kg, a step no previous administration had taken. Highlighting India's efforts toward agricultural self-reliance, Bragta stated that no apples have been imported from China since 2018, highlighting the Modi government's clear and strict policy measures that prioritise local horticulture. Turning his attention to the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government, Bragta questioned the state's efforts and asked what concrete steps the state government had taken for the orchardists so far, while the central government was taking such big decisions for the farmers. Bragta reiterated that the Modi government remains committed to increasing farmer income, protecting their interests, and advancing the goal of a self-reliant India. He added that the latest MIP hike has brought new hope for the nation's apple producers. (ANI)

Operation Sindoor was ‘finest example' of commitment to defend ‘Swaraj': Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday (July 4, 2025) said India's armed forces and the leadership are committed to defend `Swaraj' or sovereignty of the country, and it was demonstrated very well during Operation Sindoor. Speaking after the unveiling of an equestrian statue of Maratha statesman and general Peshwa Bajirao I at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune, the BJP leader also said whenever he is plagued by negative thoughts, he thinks of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Bajirao. The NDA was the most appropriate place for Bajirao's memorial as it is an institution where military leadership is trained, Mr. Shah said. "Whenever negative thoughts come to my mind, I usually think about `Bal' (young) Shivaji and Peshwa Bajirao, thinking that they were able to establish a `Swaraj' (self-rule or sovereign state) amid adverse conditions," he said. The responsibility to defend the Swaraj now lies with 140 crore Indians, Mr. Shah added. "When it was time to put up a fight to establish a Swaraj, we did it. When fighting will be required to defend the Swaraj, our forces and leadership will definitely demonstrate it, and Operation Sindoor was its finest example," he said. Paying tributes to Bajirao I (1700 to 1740), Shah said if the battle for independence started by Shivaji Maharaj and taken forward by the Peshwas for 100 years not been fought, "India's basic structure would have ceased to exist.' 'In his life of 40 years, Peshwa Bajirao scripted immortal history which no other person could write,' he added. Bajirao, who became 'Peshwa' or Prime Minister of the Maratha State at the age of 19, is credited with the expansion of the Maratha rule in central and northern India. After the event, Mr. Shah also interacted with NDA cadets.

TVK will never ally with 'divisive' BJP, says Vijay; averse to DMK as well

CHENNAI: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay on Friday declared that his party was firm about never allying, directly or indirectly, with the BJP, who he termed as the party's 'ideological foe' and a 'divisive force'. Addressing the party's first state executive committee meeting in Panaiyur near hear, he further said that a TVK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu will always be against both the DMK and the BJP. He said TVK is not like the DMK or the AIADMK to compromise and form an alliance with the BJP. His statement came amid signalling, including from a section of the State unit of the BJP, that TVK would be welcome to join the AIADMK-BJP alliance to defeat the DMK. Blaming the ruling party at the Centre for using divisive and polarising tactics to succeed in certain States, he said that such a strategy will never work in Tamil Nadu, which is deeply rooted in social justice and fraternity. He said that the BJP cannot expect to succeed in Tamil Nadu by insulting leaders like 'Periyar' EV Ramasamy or CN Annadurai. The meeting, attended by executive committee members and district secretaries, passed many resolutions, including one naming Vijay as the party's Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming Assembly polls in 2026. The committee also empowered him to make decisions regarding alliances.
