UNC brass scratching their heads over ‘odd' behavior by Jordon Hudson and Bill Belichick
UNC brass is trying to separate Bill Belichick, the football coach from his persona on social media amid the fallout from his relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson, according to The Washington Post.
In a story published on Tuesday, one UNC official explained that Belichick, 73, has 'two different sides' and that Hudson 'is in charge' of his public image outside of the football program.
'It's just so odd,' said an anonymous UNC official. 'And we just don't know what's coming. Those two decide what they're going to do and they do it.'
'She is very, very involved in the crafting of Bill's projected image, everything you see on Instagram, all of that. I know it's hard to separate out this image of Bill Belichick and Bill Belichick the North Carolina football coach. Maybe it sounds silly for me to try to separate the two things. But really the football side of Bill and now the public side of Bill have become two different things, and she is in charge of the public side.'

Belichick's image hasn't faired well in the public eye after his disastrous 'CBS Sunday Morning' interview, which aired on April 27, during which Hudson stopping him from answering a question about how the couple met.
'Jordon was a constant presence during our interview,' CBS's Tony Dokoupil said at the time.
After the interview aired, multiple reports painted Hudson as a controlling, self-serving diva.

An investigation by former ESPN reporter Pablo Torres alleged Hudson was banned from UNC athletic facilities, which the university and Belichick denied in a joint statement.
Belichick appeared on CBS to promote his new book, 'The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football,' in which he cites Hudson as his 'idea mill' and 'creative muse.'

Pre-sales for the May 6 book underperformed, one person familiar with the situation told the Washington Post.
The outlet mentioned that Belichick expressed his displeasure 'at the presentation of an upcoming essay/excerpt to be published in the Wall Street Journal' in an email sent to publicists at the book's publisher Simon & Schuster, Hudson, his former Patriots administrative assistant and others on April 10.
Hudson posted a screen-grab of that email on her Instagram, set to Taylor Swift's 'Look What You Made Me Do' on April 29, after the WSJ published their essay.
'They are insanely suspicious of media,' the person familiar with the situation told the Washington Post, which reported that Hudson's interjection during the CBS interview overshadowed the book. 'It's almost Trumpian.
'She's not good at what she's trying to do. And how could she be? She's 24.'

Belichick and Hudson have maintained that they met on a flight from New York to Florida in February 2021. They reportedly began dating in 2023.
Hudson, a former NCAA champion cheerleader at Bridgewater State University, gave up training at her gym in Hingham, Mass., according to a letter she wrote to her team last year and obtained by the Washington Post.
In it, Hudson apologized for 'all of the 'baggage' that comes with having me around; from the interlopers at practice, to the subsequent media exploitation, to the lack of dependability,' seemingly referring to the media attention she received when she and Belichick went public with their relationship last summer.
She wrote, 'During this time, I have faced a slow, exterior erasure of my strong, individual identity. I can't thank you [enough] for helping keep that in tact [sic] by embracing me, for me. It is so difficult for me to give up my time with you, because I feel like I am giving up a part of myself in the process.'

Public records list Hudson as the manager of several companies including All BB Team LLC, Coach Show LLC and Chapel Bill LLC.
Hudson did not respond The Washington Post's requests for an interview or comment. A spokesman for Belichick declined comment.
During a Tuesday appearance on 'SportsCenter,' Belichick said Hudson has nothing to do with his football program at UNC.
'That's really off to the side, it's a personal relationship,' he said while at the ACC Spring Meetings. 'She doesn't have anything to do with UNC football.'
It was Belichick's first televised interview since the CBS fallout.
Belichick is set to appear on 'Good Morning America' for a sit-down interview with Michael Strahan on Friday.

In fact, just minutes after H&M's website went live with the collaboration on April 25, the site and app both crashed. Subsequently, the fast-fashion giant's Instagram was flooded with angry messages from shoppers who weren't fast enough to get their hands on one of the 45 pieces from the line. Clearly, the Polish designer's signature floral appliqués, lace crochet and romantic tailoring at high street prices had hit a nerve. But while she is undoubtedly a modern pioneer of the style, which in her hands takes its influence from traditional Slavic and Eastern European clothing, hers is not the only brand driving the momentum. Fellow Polish brands Chylak and Karen Arcanjo have handwork built into their DNAs. Latvian brand Skarule, by Sabine Skarule, was one of the first to popularise crochet headscarves, pants and tops. UK-brand Shrimps by Hannah Weiland and Canada-based Beaufille, founded by Chloé and Parris Gordon, both tout crochet or lace as key elements of their recent collections. Lace also graced the runways of fashion giants like Chloé, Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen for their Fall-Winter 2025 collections, signalling that even big brands are returning to romantic, delicate aesthetics. 'In today's world where everything feels industrial and fast fashion, there's a growing demand for things that feel slow-moving and crafted,' said Ofri Weintraub, creative producer and founder of Spotlighttime, a page dedicated to highlighting independent brands and trending aesthetics. 'Intricate handiwork and delicate details feel like a rebellion against the noise of modern life. It's almost a form of soft resistance choosing something made with care, history and emotion over something made with speed.' Shoppers are taking note. On resale platform Depop, searches for 'Lace' are up 42 percent this year, while searches for 'Crochet' are up 95 percent. Google search interest for 'crochet' hit a five-year high this January. Part of this growth is driven by the booming bridal industry. Like many non-bridal brands, Magda Butrym has recently added her own bridal capsule collection, leveraging the seamless crossover in production that bridalwear bears with her core collection, along with added benefits like heightened social media exposure and added revenue. But the romantic connotations of lace and embroidery have also transcended weddings and crept their way, slowly but surely, into daily life. 'After the big trend of quiet luxury, crochet and embroidery are quite dreamy and stand out a lot,' Butrym said. 'I've been doing it already for 10 years, but now it's having its moment.' The Handmade Movement High street and fast-fashion brands have been quick to adopt the aesthetics of handwork in their collections. Weintraub pointed out that lace and crochet can be found all over platforms like Shein and Aliexpress, as well as at mid-range brands such as Reformation. Brands like Butrym's, however, are winning over customers with their authenticity. 'I think people are looking for something authentic,' said Weintraub. 'If you want to buy something authentic, you go to this designer where the aesthetic is woven into the DNA.' 'I can totally see how it's exploding, it's nice for me to see the comeback,' said Zofia Chylak, who is also from Poland and is the founder of her namesake brand, Chylak, which features traditional local embroidery and weaving techniques in its most recent collections. 'I feel we need a story when we buy something now, to know where it comes from, who made it. With crochet, lace and embroidery there is so much to say.' To make one of its signature collars takes more than 60 hours. The women who still know the techniques are usually retired and do the work out of love, according to Chylak, who worries that in a matter of years there may be nobody left who knows the craft any longer. Slavic Roots, Global Appeal Although lace and crochet have centuries-long histories that span various regions, it's no coincidence that Poland is one of the countries at the forefront of the nostalgic handmade aesthetic. 'All Polish grandmothers could crochet,' Butrym said. 'In the 1960s, during communism, there was not much in shops, no nice dresses or cute baby pieces — that pushed women to make things at home if they wanted to stand out.' Butrym feels there is a certain Slavicness in the romanticism of lace and crochet. One of her brand's recent campaigns was called 'Slavic Chic.' For her, the challenge is making the look feel relevant to the present moment. 'It was very hard for me to do it without looking too folk-ish and outdated for a modern woman,' she said, emphasising the importance of sharp styling and tailoring. What stands out about the handcrafted aesthetic is its unequivocal female dominance in a world where most big brands' creative direction is still white and male. The labels driving its resurgence tend to be female-founded and led. Both on the creative and the consumer side, lace, crochet and embroidery are resonating with women globally. It's helping Butrym connect with a growing number of female shoppers, as well as partners like H&M, despite not being a household name. 'I was surprised,' Butrym said about being approached by the Swedish retailer, 'but H&M told me that when they surveyed who to collaborate with next, my name came up the most.'

Bonnaroo music festival co-founder Jonathan Mayers dead at 51
Jonathan Mayers, an innovative music festival creator known for co-founding Bonnaroo and Superfly Entertainment, died at the age of 51. 'Our hearts are extremely heavy as we mourn the loss of one of our co-founders, Jonathan Mayers,' Bonnaroo wrote in an Instagram story posted on Tuesday. 'For more than a decade, Jonathan was a creative force behind this festival that so many of us have held near and dear to our hearts now for more than twenty years.' Mary Lou Retton 'determined to learn and grow' after DUI conviction
Mary Lou Retton is "determined to learn and grow" following her conviction for driving under the influence (DUI). The Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast, 57, was arrested by police in West Virginia last month after she was found behind the wheel of her Porsche in a parking lot with a bottle of wine in the passenger seat and she appeared in court on Tuesday (10.06.25) where she pleaded no contest plea to a non-aggravated DUI charge. She has now released a statement via PEOPLE apologising for her actions. It reads: "I take full responsibility for my actions. What happened was completely unacceptable. I make no excuses. To my family, friends and my fans: I have let you down, and for that I am deeply sorry. "I am determined to learn and grow from this experience, and I am committed to making positive changes in my life. I truly appreciate your concern, encouragement and continued support." Retton's attorney Edmund J. Rollo added the former sports star "asks for privacy as she moves forward with her personal and professional life". Police claimed that during the incident in West Virginia, Retton refused to have her blood tested for alcohol but three field sobriety tests confirmed she was too impaired to drive. She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or drugs; penalties and released from custody after posting a personal recognizance bond of $1,500. The former Dancing with the Stars contestant was fined $100 for the offence. The incident comes less than two years after Retton was left fighting for her life in intensive care after she was struck down with a rare form of pneumonia. Retton's daughter McKenna, 26, launched an online fundraiser to help pay for her mum's treatment because she didn't have medical insurance and it pulled in more than $459,000. The former sports star - who is mother to four daughters - went on to make a full recovery and shared an emotional open letter thanking her loved ones for all their support during such a tough time. In a post on Instagram, she wrote: "I want to express how truly blessed and thankful I am to be slowly improving and to be home with my girls, especially after my time in the hospital. "The love and support of my four amazing daughters have been a source of strength and inspiration throughout my journey. Their presence in my life is a testament to the incredible bonds of family. "My extended family, all of you, have shown me immeasurable kindness, offering prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support during my challenging times. Your love has been a beacon of hope in my life."
