, as the book worms rejoice with their favourite
books
, here's what
Papia Sengupta
exclusively shared about celebrating the day and her love for
reading
.
Papia Sengupta, who essays the role of Kanchan in
Jamai No. 1
said, 'Growing up, books were my secret escape, my daily dose of inspiration, and sometimes even my quiet rebellion against the ordinary.
Sidney Sheldon
's books, in particular, introduced me to bold female characters and layered stories full of ambition and suspense.
Her book Morning, Noon and Night is one of my favourites, and I enjoy reading it even now. Those narratives helped shape the way I view the world and the people in it. For me, reading isn't just a pastime, it's a way of understanding life and its complexities. It teaches you to pause, observe, and reflect in a world that's always rushing.
I truly believe books have the power to shape who we become. On this World Book Day, I encourage everyone to make time for reading.
Pick up a book, any book. Dive into its world. You'll be surprised by what you find and perhaps by what it awakens in you.'
Earlier, Papia got candid about her bond with co-star
Abhishek Malik
, she said, 'Working on Jamai No. 1 has been an incredible experience, and it's always a joy to collaborate with co-stars who bring great energy to the set. One of my favourite team members is Abhishek, he is not only a talented actor but also a wonderful human being.
On set, we often spend time together discussing our characters, rehearsing lines, and even sharing meals. Interestingly, while our on-screen equation is full of tension, off-screen, we share a bond of encouragement and mutual respect.
I feel incredibly blessed to have a co-star like Abhishek, who is dedicated, supportive, and always eager to learn. His enthusiasm and professionalism make long shooting hours easier, creating a positive and motivating work environment.'

Starring Sanjay Dutt in the unforgettable role of Balaram 'Ballu' Prasad, the film remains a cult classic cherished by fans for its powerful dialogues and chart-busting songs. While many remember the movie's on-screen magic, some behind-the-scenes facts are lesser-known. For instance, the legendary director originally envisioned a different actor for the titular role. Read on to uncover this and more fascinating trivia about 'Khalnayak' on its special anniversary. Read on to learn everything there is to know about the casting change. Nana Patekar was supposed to play Billu in 'Khalnayak,' not Sanjay Dutt Subhash Ghai discussed 'Khalnayak,' how he came up with the concept for the movie, and the actor he originally had in mind for the title role in an earlier interview with ETimes. The director disclosed that Raavan gave him the idea to make the Sanjay Dutt-starring movie because, at the time, no character-based movie had been made. Initially, director Subhash Ghai envisioned 'Khalnayak' as an art film and had Nana Patekar in mind for the lead role. Ghai's original intention was to write a more subdued story. However, his writer convinced him to change course, suggesting they create a more commercial and grand-scale movie instead of one that would appeal to only a niche audience. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo The director claimed that he had originally signed Nana Patekar to play the lead role because he wanted a middle-aged actor to play the part. Sanjay Dutt was cast because, while writing the story, Ghai realized he needed a misguided young man to make the story believable. Subhash Ghai on Anil Kapoor desiring to be a villain Subhash Ghai disclosed in the same conversation that he is absolutely certain Jackie Shroff will portray Ram. But he also mentioned that Anil Kapoor was eager to play the antagonist in 'Khalnayak.' 'He came to my house two or three times and said, Subhash ji, I want to do this role," the filmmaker said. "I said that the scenario will not suit you. You will go, I will go, and the film will also go.' According to reports at the time of production, Aamir Khan was also considered for the villain role. But Aamir wanted to do Saudagar, not Khal Nayak, Ghai explained. All about 'Khalnayak' Subhash Ghai wrote, directed, and produced the film, which starred Sanjay Dutt in the title role and Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, and Rakhee Gulzar in supporting parts.
