Paul Walker's character returning to Fast & Furious 12 years after his death
The 57-year-old actor – who has portrayed Dominic 'Dom' Toretto in the Fast and Furious franchise since its debut in 2001 – admitted one of his 'conditions' for returning for a final movie in the series was to bring back Brian O'Conner, played by Walker.
The cop-turned-street racer was played by his friend until he died in a car accident in 2013, aged 40.
Walker was in the passenger seat of his Porsche Carrera GT – driven by friend Roger Rodas – when the vehicle spun out of control, crashing into two trees and exploding in a fireball.
Speaking at Fuel Fest in California over the weekend, Diesel said: 'The studio said to me, 'Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast and Furious [in] April 2027?
'I said, 'Under three conditions.' First, is to bring the franchise back to LA. The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing. The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O'Conner.'
It is unclear how the character could return to the series, and Vin didn't expand on whether archive footage or a digital creation would be used.
Walker was brought back to life in Fast 7, the seventh film in the Fast and Furious franchise, which was released in 2015.
In the final moments of the film, the actor can be seen driving away after giving his co-star one last smile.
The stunt was pulled off by using deep AI and CGI technology to place the late actor's face onto his brother Cody Walker's face, who was driving the car.
The actor's daughter, Meadow Walker, had a cameo appearance in Fast X to 'honour her father's legacy.'
The last film in the franchise was Fast X, which was released in May 2023 and was initially advertised as the first of a two-part saga, but it is now unclear whether Fast 11 will pick up the story after such a lengthy delay. More Trending
Alan Ritchson was a newcomer in Fast X as Agent Aimes, and he recently admitted the next movie has been delayed because it takes so long to coordinate the schedules of stars in the franchise, such as Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Jason Momoa.
Alan told Screen Rant: 'We talk about it quite often. That is one of the biggest challenges that the franchise faces is that you've got a lot of guys like Dwayne and Vin and Momoa and myself and everybody's super busy. So trying to get the stars to align so we can make that happen is a feat of nature.
'So we'll see how it goes, but this is a passion project for Universal and it's one that I had a blast doing, so I'd love to get in there, and I'll bring it to life again.'

Broken schemes, qualms with the Crown and Rod's Reform: Readers discuss
Do you agree with our readers? Have your say on these MetroTalk topics and more in the comments. The government, the opposition and the country in general seem to be discussing the 'broken benefits system' in order to save money. But why is no one talking about the 'broken tax system' with all its tax avoidance schemes? Pedro, Hammersmith So people are having a go at Rod Stewart for both his performance and his politics (MetroTalk, Mon). His set was brilliant – I'd rather hear 15 great/classic songs from an 80-year-old than some of the other nonsense on offer! And as for him suggesting we 'give Nigel Farage a chance', I may not agree but don't the latest polls say that Rod is in the majority? Lighten up out there!Steve Tomkins, London John Lawrence's view (MetroTalk, Wed) that a certain word regarding iconography should be banned from all publications is spot on. It's cheaper than getting a cat, and you certainly don't have the responsibility of the upkeep for a little moggy! Maggie Small, via email Martin Lawrence does not need to get a cat. Just go to a zoo and ask for some tiger dung. Spread it over the flower beds and the cats will disappear as they will think that there is a 500lb cat in residence. Many of us will never ever meet the head or deputy head of state, but the sight of the train passing through the countryside was a morale-booster for many. The yacht visited remote parts of Scottish islands where the royals could relax, the train is stabled in quiet sidings and loops to avoid disrupting freight and passenger trains. That's been lost. The green credentials of the Royal Family have been ruined, too – helicopters and cars are not the answer. Channel 4 star reveals truth behind Sex Experiment vomiting scene
A man who threw up on TV before his girlfriend slept with another man has claimed that the true reason behind his chundering episode was 'cut'. Channel 4's reality series Open House: The Great Sex Experiment sees couples try to open up their relationships to include other partners – with mixed results. The series began in 2022 and recently aired its third season, which ran for eight episodes across May and June and came to a close on last Friday night. In the third season, Devon couple Tom and Lauren were one of several pairs who tried out the risky but potentially exciting experiment on Channel 4. However, things didn't quite go to plan, with Tom and Lauren making headlines when Tom threw up after chatting to the show's relationship coach Effy Blue. During the episode broadcast on June 13, the couple agreed to take things to another level in the bedroom after a candid discussion with non-monogamy expert Effy. She told the couple that they would need to have sexual experiences without each other, before Tom was shown looking disoriented before going off-camera to be sick. Tom's retching over the bathroom sink could be heard from the bedroom, where Lauren was waiting, asking her partner if he needed a glass of water to help soothe his throat. 'This is going to be horrible,' Tom is then heard saying, before Lauren admitted that she 'just wanted to cuddle' him after the pair were given the difficult instructions. However, the couple have now set the record straight (via MailOnline), saying that the cause for Tom's unfortunate episode was not what viewers might think. 'So Tom throwing up, they actually cut the scene,' Lauren said. 'So, that was actually because he had to be a life drawing model.' Tom admitted to the publication that he was 'really nervous' and that he 'got so overwhelmed' by the prospect of being a naked still life model that it got the better of him. After getting off to a bad start – with Lauren confessing that she was worried about coming across as an 'experienced sex pest' – the couple thanked the show for helping with their relationship struggles. More Trending Tom lives with a condition called bicuspid aortic valve, a congenital heart defect that means the heart valve doesn't work properly – the couple were concerned at how their management of Tom's condition in relation to their sex life would be portrayed. However, Tom now says, 'We're both more confident in going out to parties, and we're much closer as a couple,' while Lauren says their sessions in conversation with Effy were 'really helpful'. Tom concluded: 'Going on Open House has helped me massively, and it's also helped out a lot of other people as well. I've been getting lots of good feedback from other people.'
