BGT's Bruno Tonioli issues blunt response to Ofcom complaints about ITV show
The Britain's Got Talent judge didn't hold back when it came to responding to criticism
Britain's Got Talent judge and former Strictly star Bruno Tonioli has addressed the slew of complaints received by Ofcom from ITV viewers regarding some contentious performances this year.
At 69 years of age, Tonioli, who sits on the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and guest judge KSI, reacted following a wave of disapproval over several acts. Notably, Auzzy Blood's act drew approximately 700 complaints to Ofcom.
Auzzy Blood, the stage name of Austin Punton, left audiences reeling with a horror-themed audition that saw him inserting metal items into his face.

Equally startling was Akira Ohashi's performance, which involved nudity and elicited about 90 complaints.
Responding to the uproar, Bruno proposed that detractors might be better off engaging in quieter pastimes, such as "reading a book", reports Belfast Live.

Speaking to The Mirror, Bruno expressed his outlook: "I don't focus on the negative. Social media? Forget it. Life is too short. Read a book!"

Bruno has previously come to the defence of performer Auzzy Blood, telling Metro and others: "It's presentation, to me – it was a bit like the Hammer House Of Horror feel, these movies that had this kind of wonderful, gothic feel to them."
He extolled the virtues of the controversial acts, remarking to the press: "These acts are huge in Vegas. It does make you squeal, but I don't think it's offensive. There is a lot of skill in what he does, and the way it's presented is quite fascinating."
Bruno revealed his enthusiasm for Auzzy Blood's performances, highlighting their thrilling unpredictability: "What is incredible, and what I like about the show is he's exciting. We didn't know what was going to happen, and it's open to all parts of what we call variety.

"There is historical precedence to it. It's not [just] shock value. It is something that is out there and it has been around within this canon of variety for hundreds of years."
In 2023, Bruno secured a spot on the Britain's Got Talent judging panel, taking over from David Walliams for the programme's 16th series after spending 18 years critiquing on Strictly Come Dancing.
David stepped away from his role on Britain's Got Talent following the release of off-screen comments made about participants. The statements, disclosed by The Guardian, were deemed derogatory and led to his exit from the popular talent show.

Richard Madeley presents Good Morning Britain in cast after ‘double fracture'
The 69-year-old was asked how he got the injury by co-host Susanna Reid, who remarked 'that looks sore', at the start of Monday's edition of the ITV morning show. He replied: 'It's a double fracture of the wrist. I was walking quite quickly down a steep pavement in France, actually, on Friday, and the pavement was loose, and it flipped up and it flipped me forward. and I thought, am I going to win or is gravity going to win? And gravity won. Richard Madeley was forced to do 'one hand clapping' on the show thanks to his injury (Anthony Devlin/PA) 'I hit the ground hard, so yeah, I've got a double fracture and we'll see how it goes.' Reid then asked whether it was still sore to which her co-host replied: 'I'm not discussing the pain threshold.' In Monday's show, Madeley's cast could be seen as the two went on to discuss Greta Thunberg's aid boat which had been travelling to Gaza and has been boarded by Israeli forces, the NHS's recent calls for a million new blood donors to come forward, and protests in Los Angeles. As he interviewed comedian turned artist Jim Moir, best known by his stage name Vic Reeves, who showed him how he can make his bed in eight seconds, Madeley praised him with 'one hand clapping'. Madeley has co-presented the show since 2017, after previously launching ITV's This Morning in 1988 with wife Judy Finnigan, with whom he went on to present chat show Richard And Judy from 2001 to 2009. The presenter also worked on The Wright Stuff as a guest host between 2012 and 2017. Madeley's co-host Reid joined Good Morning Britain in 2014, having previously worked on BBC Breakfast and Sunday Morning Live.

BBC bosses' battle to save Strictly as 2025 'no more scandal' line-up leaked
The BBC are demanding a 'no more scandal' policy on Strictly and are determined to make sure the 2025 line-up is the safest yet with a royal and Blue Peter stars being considered There is a "terrible, terrible fear" among BBC executives that Strictly Come Dancing will be struck by scandal again this year - and every effort is being made to ensure all contestants are squeaky clean. The show has been dogged by shocking headlines in recent years, and this weekend EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick - on the show in 2024 - was suspended by the BBC after using a slur against people with disabilities on the set of Strictly while filming in Blackpool. That came after Giovanni Pernice ws involved allegations of bullying and aggressive behaviour made by his partner Amanda Abbington, forcing the corporation to launched an internal investigation. In May, radio host Wynne Evans announced he is leaving his role after the broadcaster decided not to renew his contract. He apologised for making what he described as an "inappropriate and unacceptable" comment during the Strictly Come Dancing live tour launch in December. The crude sexualised remark was aimed at dance pro and It Takes Two host Janette Manrara. Now the BBC want to go risk free and are leaving no stone unturned to make sure the line-up is as safe as possible. Blue Peter presenters Joel Mawhinney and Shini Muthukrishnan are said to be under consideration - as is Tom Parker Bowles, the son of Queen Camilla. Georgia Toffolo - the I'm a Celebrity Jungle Queen - is reportedly being lined up, as is Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts. Newly married former Love Island star Dani Dyer is being considered, it has been reported, with former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan another name high up on bosses' list. "There is a terrible, terrible fear among those high up that these awful things are going to keep happening and the show will be brought into disrepute again and again," one well-place BBC insider has told MailOnline. "With that in mind, they are taking no chances. "There will be stringent checks, and asking around, and digging into potential stars' backgrounds to make sure that they're not choosing anyone who might damage the show. For years, there was the whole Strictly 'curse' where the contestants and professionals kept having affairs. But that stopped. "Changes were made to the partnerships and it worked. There have been other issues in the past couple of years, though. What's been even more embarrassing for the BBC is that Wynne and Jamie have been from their own stable of stars. Going forward, those at the top want a wholesome image to shine through. No more scandal – just joy." This weekend EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick declared he is "deeply sorry" for using a derogatory term about disabled people. The shock news came six months after he was competing on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing - which is when the incident is said to have taken place. The 30-year-old actor has appeared on EastEnders since 2006 in which he plays Jay Brown. However, it is stated he is on suspension from the soap following the revelation he used offensive language in a video that was allegedly shared with friends. He has issued a grovelling apology which has been shared by The Sun on Sunday, stating: 'I want to apologise sincerely and wholeheartedly for the words I used in the video showing my reaction to making it through Blackpool week on Strictly. 'I am deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused. It is no excuse, but I did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning. That is on me completely. 'Now I am aware, I am deeply embarrassed to have used the term and directed it in the way I did. It was wrong." He went on to issue an apology to the people of Blackpool and reiterate his regret over his words. The Mirror has contacted a representative of the star for comment.
