Will Ranbir Kapoor and Yash not share screen space in Ramayana? details inside
According to a report in Zee News, a source shared, 'The makers have chosen to stay true to the original Valmiki text, where Lord Ram and Ravana do not encounter each other through most of the epic. Their worlds remain apart, their stories unfolding in parallel until destiny brings them face-to-face in the climactic battle.'
The source further added, 'As per the original narrative, Ram learns of Ravana's existence only after Sita's abduction, and the two never meet until the battlefield confrontation in Lanka.'
While there haven't been any official announcements of the cast, reports and set leaks have confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi are in the role of Lord Ram, Sita and Ravana respectively.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Yash confirmed his role as Ravana and called it the most 'fascinating' role he could have played. He also shared that he is the co-producer of the movies, and he aims to take it globally.
Earlier, a source close to the development told Pinkvilla, 'Yash will be shooting for his part in Ramayana for almost a month, which includes portions of part one and also some bits of part two.' The source further added that he has begun filming his solo scenes and will soon shoot with Sai Pallavi and Ranbir Kapoor. Sunny Deol, who is also a part of the film, will begin shooting from June this year.
For the unversed, Ramayana: Part One is all set to hit the theaters during the Diwali 2026 weekend and Ramayana: Part Two is set for a Diwali 2027 release.

Coolie vs War 2 advance booking: Rajinikanth's film sells 500% more tickets than Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's film
Coolie vs War 2 advance booking: This week is set to witness a massive box office clash, with Rajinikanth's much-awaited film Coolie releasing on the same day as Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2. With advance bookings for both films now underway, the competition has grown even more fierce. For now, Coolie holds the lead in advance booking sales. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, War 2 has secured more screens than Coolie across India. While Rajinikanth's Coolie has 7,338 shows pan-India, War 2 will be screened at 8,510 shows, as of 9 am, 12 August. Despite leading with a larger number of shows, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2 has sold 1,26,287 tickets in advance booking sales for day 1. Comparatively better, Coolie has sold a whopping 8,35,850 tickets for day 1, which is about 561.7% more than the YRF's spy-thriller. Coolie is likely to have a bigger opening day business than War 2. However, there's still time for Hrithik and Jr NTR's film to catch up with Coolie's numbers. In terms of revenue, War 2 has raked in ₹ 4.11 crore from advance booking sales for its release day. Considering the blocked seats, it is set to premiere with a business of ₹ 8.54 crore. On the other hand, Rajinikanth's Coolie has minted ₹ 17.72 crore alone from day 1 advance booking, which is already higher than the total estimated business of War 2. Considering blocked seats, Coolie is eyeing a debut with ₹ 24.28 crore, which is an impressive figure. War 2 will release in Hindi (across 2D, IMAX, DOLBY, 4DX, and other formats), Tamil (2D), and Telugu (2D, 4DX). Coolie will release originally in Tamil with dubbed versions in Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada languages, in 2D formats. While the Hindi 2D format of War 2 leads with the highest number of Day 1 tickets sold, Coolie has recorded the maximum sales among its Tamil audience. War 2 is directed by Ayan Mukerji. It stars Hrithik, Jr NTR alongside Kiara Advani. The film marks Jr NTR's Bollywood debut. War 2 was passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A 16+ certificate. It has a runtime of 2 hours and 50 minutes. Coolie is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. It features Rajinikanth with Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Aamir Khan. It has been certified 'A' by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). It has a runtime of 2 hours and 48 minutes. Both are releasing on 14 August.

Mobile theatre revolutionary Hemanta passes away at 83
1 2 Guwahati: Assamese dramatist Hemanta Dutta, whose theatrical rendition of James Cameron's Titanic on the stage of the Kohinoor theatre group in 1998 brought a revolution to Assam's unique travelling theatre industry, breathed his last at 83 on Monday. Dutta achieved the seemingly impossible by recreating cinematic spectacles like helicopter landings and the sinking Atlantic on a modest mobile theatre stage while staging Titanic. The eminent cultural figure of the state, Dutta was undergoing treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. He was awarded the state's second-highest civilian award, Assam Sourav, earlier this year. Born in 1942 in Kharupetia, Darrang district, Dutta penned over 100 plays and composed more than 500 songs. He was widely admired for his innovative adaptations, including bringing James Cameron's Titanic to Assam's mobile theatre stage — an achievement that demonstrated his creative daring and commitment to popularising theatre. Director Tapan Lahkar, son of Ratan Lahkar — one of the pioneers of the mobile theatre industry — told TOI that Dutta's demise will create a vacuum in the mobile theatre industry as no one would be able to measure up. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo "Dutta Khura (uncle) and Ratan Lahkar, founder of the Kohinoor mobile theatre group, were the two sides of the same coin. Working in tandem, they took the mobile theatre industry to the next level through dramatic and thematic innovation, besides introducing technical experiments on the stage," he added. Lahkar said staging Titanic in 1998 brought a revolution to the mobile theatre industry, as until then, nobody could imagine such technical work on a mobile theatre stage. "Besides Titanic, the plays Ramayana and Mahabharat were classic examples of their imagination, experiment, and dedication. There was no television in households when those plays were staged," he added. He said Dutta's notable works include the plays Eta Nasta Lorar Galpa, Path, Titanic, Hendur, Akakhor Dore Mon, and Mukti, and film songs for movies such as Hiya Diya Niya, Jiban Surabhi, and Nayak. Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, while mourning Dutta's demise, said the state has lost a torch-bearer in the cultural field. Besides him, people from every section of the society mourned the demise of Dutta. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
